Sell Diaz for 70m
Buy Guehi for 40m
Offer Konate+30m for Rodrygo?
Too much to hope for?

If we are shopping at M&S for attacking players why would we shop at ASDA for centre halves
Up the pool.
18 Jul 2025 21:09:39
I’d have thought we’d need 2 centre halves if we sold konate as well as Quansah.
Also don’t get the hate for Guehi.
If he signs I’m confident he’ll be very good for us.

Because we're hungry?
18 Jul 2025 21:27:25
The fox, then the chicken, then the grain?
18 Jul 2025 21:41:02
Konate to Guehi is a steep drop off in quality, in fact it’s not so much steep as vertical. Guehi isn’t ASDA, he’s happy shopper or Poundland.

Stop overrating Konate, average player at best when virgil not next to him.
18 Jul 2025 22:31:32
I'd take that.
18 Jul 2025 22:41:47
Imagine bigging up a barely mediocre player who plays for a mid table side over a top class defender who plays for us,
18 Jul 2025 22:44:15
VVD makes people around him look better, he's got that kind of presence on the pitch .
18 Jul 2025 22:45:26
Errrrrm because Roll backs are back. ?.
18 Jul 2025 22:58:37
The telling point for me is that both Konate and Guehi have the same length on their contracts left, Real Madrid, PSG, Barca, Bayern would all be very keen to sign Konate, but yet none of them are remotely interested in Guehi. That tells its own story.
18 Jul 2025 23:10:31
Guehi? I don’t get why .
18 Jul 2025 23:11:57
I don't think Konate is top class and he certainly wasn't before he came to us.
We might be looking at 'barely mediocre' players because Konate won't always play for us.
A top class replacement mightn't be available to us so we are looking for a much fabled hidden gem.

It isn’t hate with Guehi. People wrongly conflate legitimate criticism of his various shortcomings with hate.
He’s simply not very good defensively, he’s physically weak, he loses concentration at vital moments and he’s very poor in the air. So far the only arguments being put forward for him being good enough to replace Konate are that he looks less awkward on the ball, that he’s Palace’s captain and he plays for England, none of which are remotely persuasive. We would become a soft touch at set pieces with him as our starting centre half that’s a simple reality.
As a squad member and bench option he’s fine. As a starter? He’s not good enough for us. If he wasn’t English no one would be interested.

Poor turn of phrase selected by me Viktor. I don’t get the criticism would have been a better phrase.
Those criticising Guehi have a very different view to the Crystal Palace journos/ experts I’ve listened to lately.
They describe him as their best player alongside Eze and some have gone as far as to describe him as one of their best ever players.
They describe his as a leader, great on the ball and a great reader of the game.
I’ve only really watched him properly in the Euros
When he was England’s best defender by some distance. I also remember palace went on a really bad run last season when he missed a couple of games.
Newcastle seem to have to have a great scouting/ recruitment team and they also desperately wanted him last season. That’s telling for me.
Finally Konate is often great but can be prone to having really bad games. He can get too tight to his opponent at times, almost overly impulsive, trying to win balls he’s not going to win and getting pulled out of position.
Id love him to stay as he has some great attributes but if he doesn’t I’m confident we can find a replacement without a drop off in quality. and Guehi might be that player. Plenty of experts seems to thinks so.

Ousmane Diomande and someone like Ait Boudlal or Zeze.

Guhei getting hate and isn’t even signed, if slot likes him that’s good enough
There always has to be a scapegoat on here.
