Hello all,

Not transfer related.

Does anyone know of any pubs near Anfield or in town showing the 3pm Liverpool game on Saturday?

Ta.

I don’t but whilst you’re here, any transfer news? ?.

25 Sep 2025 17:03:12
I believe that's illegal, even for pubs.

{Ed001's Note - can pubs not show it? I never knew that.}

There is a few Carra, just don't go in the city or the nicer areas and you will find one.

3pm Saturday kick offs were stopped by a ex Burnley chairman I believe.
He’s thought process was that the English public wouldn’t actually crowd the stadiums and fill out the capacity and generate money for each individual club due to supporters choosing to be at home instead of
FA have upstood this ruling since it came in
Can’t remember the year or the chairman name

Can't wait for this stupid rule to inevitably be rescinded. Really hacks me off that regardless of how expensive TV subscriptions are there's never a guarantee the game you want to watch will be on in the UK, but anywhere else in the world? Every game on demand no problem. Absolute nonsense IMO.

I think any pub that gets recommended will be filled with the call of punters turning to random strangers asking “Is it you? Are you the one? ”.

Honest question. Are all the matches not televised in the UK. I have Paramount, Peacock and I believe ESPN has the FA cup. But I can see every game. Like over here the NFL broadcasts every local game on TV in the market so long as the stadium is sold out.

Hi 420. 3pm games, where most of them are played, have a media blackout in the UK regardless of sellout unfortunately. As above this rule was initially created to ensure stadiums stay full. Utterly ridiculous as they started early and late kick off games so they could be televised and it has no effect on stadium tickets being sold.

I would be interested to know what games you can watch through what providers (or any other people's input for that matter? ) as I would be happy to use a VPN and pay for a foreign service if I could watch every game legitimately, but over here Sky Sports and TNT are the providers, are stupidly expensive and never a guarantee you'll actually be able to watch your team so I refuse to pay for it!

{Ed001's Note - you can't do it that way, that would still be illegal using a VPN like that. And it is not about the Premier League stadiums, it is about lower league teams, who rely on getting local fans coming along when their usual Prem team is away from home that week.}

Fair enough Ed, thanks. I didn't think about the local team benefits. I do understand but still think it's a tad silly. There will always be people that do as you say and that's great, but from a personal perspective I still think it's a bit mad.
I love LFC, and whilst I live in the south midlands I cannot easily watch the game in person or telebised, but someone across the pond can? Dunno, doesn't seem right to me. Eventually I can see them changing it, or at least I hope so. Either way I'm not paying Sly Sports prices for the option of watching teams I don't care about play half the time!

{Ed001's Note - it is something they need to figure out, maybe the way forward is to allow access to televised games only at licensed football clubs? So that the non and lower league clubs could show it and bring in some extra money, even if their team is playing an away match?}

I personally believe the rule is very important to keep. I apply for every Liverpool ticket going but hardly ever get one for myself and kids. So I go to watch my local side in L2 along with about 6-10k others. If we could watch PL games at 3pm, their attendance would be less than half and the club would die. That would be terrible for the higher leagues too with fewer clubs to send loan players to, less opportunities for players and managers coming through the system and other issues in the future.
Let's keep the rule for as long as possible.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, but money will win out, which is why I was wondering if it could be altered to suit those lower league clubs and ensure they don't miss out.}

Westwood
I literally can watch every match. They are just broken into different services. Regular Cable TV and NBC show prem matches. If it's not on then stream on Peacock. Paramount shows Champions, Europe and conference. Pretty Sure ESPN+ does FA cup. League cup. was Paramount or ESPN. The streaming works out to around 50 US monthly, maybe more with ESPN. Cable is stupid.
