If it is indeed true that Hughes is the one that wants Salah gone, then I am worried that our rot will get much worse than it gets better.
Pure guesswork, but Hughes could be telling Slot that he (Slot) has his (Hughes) backing to drop Salah, and even though the results and performance remains s**t, he will not remove Slot from his position.
How did we get ourselves into this utter mess when we should be pushing on after winning the league last season?
FSG might need to do a full reset on the football structure, removing Edwards, Hughes and Slot if the situation worsens, otherwise once the bad culture gets engrained, it will be tough and take a long time to turn around.

Sorry if I’ve missed something.
Where has the narrative come from that Hughes is the instigator in getting rid of Salah.
I genuinely can’t believe a title winning manager would allow himself to be dictated to by a director of football on who he can and can’t play.

Kaisuke, you've just made a whole scenario up there purely based on nothing but guess work, as you've admitted yourself.

I will say I’m frustrated by Mo’s comments, though I do think he has a right to be upset.
The things he said only divide the team and the fan base, at its core it’s selfish of him. More than ever this team needs to stick together, not be more divisive. Soccer, more than any other sport in my opinion, is about the collective.
The way he did what he did goes against that very principle; yes Salah has been unreal, imo best player the club has ever had, but it doesn’t give him permission to put himself above everyone else in the teams darkest hour. His words were honest but take that honesty to the manager, owners, and leadership at the club. It’s wasted filling headlines and social media posts and only hurts the team more.
Very frustrated with Mo this morning.
{Ed025's Note - good post TKE, but Salah is nowhere near the best player you have ever had mate...imo..

I doubt it runs that deep, the managers day to day decisions are not supervised by the hierarchy. Slot doesn't need the support of anybody to drop players. A managers decisions generally aren't questioned unless something really out of the ordinary occurs.
I think, if anything, it's Slot's position that's being questioned. For a title winning squad to fall apart in such a short space of time doesn't point to individual performances, it points to the manager. Personally, I believe the club has been looking at alternatives for a number of week, it just unfortunate that nobodys really available. Anybody who would fit the bill would have to be coaxed out of their current role and negotiations would take quite some time.
Gerrard should have been brought in weeks ago in my opinion, it's been evident Slot lost the dressing room since the very start of the season. I know a lot of fans, myself included, have been questioning countless decisions made by Slot back as early as February. If half-wits like me can see fatal tactical errors, then what do the players see? And more importantly, how do they feel about it?!
Unfortunately, I don't see the club valuing Gerrard's ability to ignite drive and passion along with the credibility and respect he has in the dressing room, above his tactical shortcomings or lacklustre CV.

Ed01 JK implied that Hughes is a key instigator in wanting Salah out.
