If we do sign Guehi in January, it would be interesting to see the leadership dynamic between him and VVD. I don't rate VVD as a leader, I may be wrong but he comes across as unassertive and He is not cool headed when things go awry. Many have spoken favourably about Guehi as a leader, not much positive reviews about VVD. Does anybody think Guehi could show up VVD as a leader?

Not too many Moaning about his leadership last season when we won the title or the season before when he guided a young inexperienced team to a league cup final win.
Yes he’s had a downturn in form this season but most of the rest have as well but people forget that when for the vast majority of his time with us he’s been a brilliant player and undoubtedly loves the club .
Didn’t see Bobby Moore ranting and raving at players much in his day either and he was the ultimate skipper.

Lets see how Guehi settles if he joins, for instance its taken Kerkez a few months to settle after making the jump from a smaller team. Guehi would probably be more concerned with actually getting minutes on the pitch and getting used to playing in a back 4 than trying to lead the side.

Guehi is being made out to be the second coming, it appears.
This version of Virgil is still the best CB in the world btw.

Or @starseeker, we could just wait and see if Guehi signs at all before we start promising him the armband while at the same time, cussing out VVD who was a great leader last season when he cpatained the team to a league title against all odds.

{Ed025's Note - at the moment..Tarks and Keane mate, but only because Jarrad Branthwaite is injured otherwise VVD would be 4th, but this is probably a temporary situation because when hes at his best Virgil is the best in the world..

If he signs ( Guehi) he can’t be made captain. Virg Ali, Robbo all before him, then you got Mo, jones who know the club inside out, won everything there is with us and deserve a shot before any signings get the armband. Unless that signing is hendo, gerrard, milly type ex player.

Me personally as future captain after the inevitable end of our big jumbers 4 reign it has to he szob he has that never say die attitude and has been leading by example this season when other stars have faultered.

{Ed025's Note - we are doing ok for a team in transition WDW, we need a few players but which team Doesn,t?, but we are going in the right direction and with our new owners and new ground it was never going to be a quick fix but its all about perspective, im happy the way things are going actually and having been fighting relegation for the last few years its a welcome change to be able to hold our own even against the better teams mate..cant complain..

@Rigsby, nah, we weren't 3rd faves. You remember stuff very differently, as usual. I propose you do some research before the start of last season cos many were saying we would be lucky to be 4th (many of our fans thought this, btw) if not, for Slot to get the sack just like they thought Ten Hagg would.
Some where certain that Slot would struggle taking over from an icon like Klopp and would fail just like Moyes did at Utd. Do your research bro. Third favorites? None of that happened, mate.
