Evening ed001 Heard anything re the below? Cheers Drogie Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has just announced that the club has partnered with a major investment group for a massive $1.5 billion Anfield upgrade project ?️. The ambitious plan promises to transform Anfield into a defining sporting landmark of the century – with a luxury hotel, an expanded entertainment and shopping complex, and a one-of-a-kind Liverpool heritage museum – sending shockwaves throughout the football world and celebrating the history, trophies, and legends that have made the "Reds" famous.
{Ed001's Note - isn't that what they announced when they started the rebuild of Anfield? I am sure all of this was planned from the start.}

None of that mentioned extending the stadium Drogie. I also don't think it will likely ever be extended because it has to have the infrastructure around it (rail links) to go above its current capacity. Not having a go by the way, just flagging it's likely not very exciting news for us as a club.

Where did you hear this? I'm not sure I remember him saying this, I thought they had effectively finished up with any Anfield development for the meantime which would be disappointing as I would like to see us expand the Kenny and the Kop, although expanding those would require jumping through a lot of hoops with the LCC and they might not see the value in getting an extra 15/ 20k seats.

They should work more closely with the council and invest in the infrastructure around the stadium. Our city working the with the club should be pushing cross-city train lines and better bus systems because getting to and from the match via public transport is a joke.

Ed001 What are your thoughts on how the stadium is looking, with only 2 sides being developed? Surely when FSG were looking to either build. New stadium or upgrade Anfield ( which they went with) they would have had plans to do all 4 stands. Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - they are limited by the area's infrastructure, but they have been talking with the council for years about a redevelopment of the area. If that goes ahead, the plan is to extend the stadium further then.}

Same question to Oli. You seem to be holding the club, head coach and players accountable on every post. What are your thoughts on how the stadium is looking?

From memory, I think it was linked to that if the club wanted to do a full expansion, they must invest in the local infrastructure and transport links etc to ensure it doesn't cause chaos on match days. After reviewing the cost implications, I think the club decided against a full rebuild type. Could be wrong, but vaguely remember something like that.
