Now that it looks likely that Guehi is going to Man City for just over £20m + add ons (confirmed by Ornstein), does anyone think that we are looking at bigger names and quality in the summer? Olise and Bastoni spring to mind as opposed to Semenyo and Guehi. I would say Olise and Bastoni to be the top quality long term replacements for Salah and VVD respectively. The pair would probably cost in the region of £150m as opposed to the near £100m being paid by Man City What I think is happening is some kind of upheaval behind the scenes and as some ITK's on here have alluded to which is Slot and Hughes gone by June and Xabi Alonso to come in? Hence no real movement on players and pushing to finish at least 4th and we can have a genuine push on all fronts next season with a new manager and quality players added.

I've a feeling we will indeed try for bastoni.

Will Bastoni come to a club not in the CL? Because that's the way this rubbish show is headed.

If so, that's a dangerous game to play. Top 4 is by no means guaranteed, especially with our defence at its bare bones. Dropping out of the top 4 has financial implications which means there's no guarantee of getting back in next season either.
Reinforcements are needed now, and if the long term plan is for those players to be Xabi-picked players, then talk to him about his preferred targets now!

Dream on, bastoni? Never going to happen and we had chance at a very good cb prem proven. And you think Alonso wouldn't love to have had guehi in already for his arrival. Aren't hughes and Edwards the ones choosing the players, allegedly.
So I'm summer we need to replace vvd and salah also, konate and more than likely Gomez too, so why wasn't the build started.

We are not getting Bastoni if we are not in the champions league next season's and the way we are playing I would not bet on us finishing top 5.

We probably won't really know why this happened until his book comes out, but it's hard to overlook the negative vibe about the club at the moment and, for me, addressing that with clear heads at the top is paramount.
