How difficult must it be to give everything as a Liverpool fan right now? It just feels so flat. Knowing the club supposedly have Xabi lined up, knowing the players probably know, Slot knows, and the entire world seems to know it.
Put yourself in that position as a player. You have to be professional and keep fighting for the club, but you can clearly see the effect something like that must be having.
It’s such a bizarre scenario. I honestly don’t understand what the club are waiting for when it feels like the decisions have already been made. It almost feels like the most pointless season — a waste of a season — yet there’s still so much technically to play for.
If Xabi is ready and Arne wants out anyway, surely it makes more sense to get things done sooner rather than later.

Then you think about players like Curtis. Imagine being Curtis and not getting any minutes on Tuesday. What must be going through his head? Probably thinking he’ll just wait and see what the next guy thinks.
It just feels like an absolute shambles at the moment.
This is basically a post about nothing really — just sitting here every day reading things, thinking about it all and wondering what a mess it feels like.
And if we are writing this season off, then at least get things in place early so it looks attractive for potential future signings. Otherwise, who the hell is going to want to come?
Anyway… what a croc.

There has to be a valid reason why the owners haven't made the change just yet. I don't think they're that naive to what's going on, or to what the general feeling is around the majority of the fan base. It has to be something financial. Maybe they are waiting for the new tax year to start (April) before doing anything. What else could it be? Maybe Alonso is just not ready to arrive until the summer, and the higher-ups see no point in getting an interim in for only a few short months.

I would have binned Slot after losing to Plymouth in the FA Cup last year, but hey ho.

As for Jones, he may be wise to stick around until the new manager comes in and assess the situation then before looking to leave. Surely Alonso would appreciate having a local Scouse lad in the team, as they're as common as rocking horse s***.

The future's bright. The future's red.

Firstly, we don't know if Slot is leaving or if Xabi is lined up. It's all conjecture, so if that is not the case then most of your post is based on incorrect assumptions. I'd just wait and see.

Secondly, why are we writing a season off? Because we haven't won the league? I hate to tell you this, but Liverpool have been in existence for 134 years and won the league 20 times. Does that mean that the other 114 seasons have been written off? (I know war time seasons don't count before anyone says).

I get the disappointment, I really do.

Having been champions last season, we were all hoping the new signings would help us go back to back, but for whatever reason it just hasn't been our season. It happens. It's happened 114 times before and it will happen many more times in the future.

We all expected a roller coaster after Jurgen left, and we massively exceeded expectations last season, but here is the roller coaster and I see way too many people turning green and wanting to get off. Just stay on until the end, it'll all be worth it.

If Alonso doesn't win the quadruple in his first season, a lot of posters who think he is the second coming are going to be disappointed. Firstly, none of us know what approach has been made by the club. Secondly, none of us know if the club even wants him. All speculation at the minute.

This is a ragebait post, right?

12 Mar 2026 17:37:01
Elliot, I don't think most supporters expect the quad every season, but we do expect a vision for how the team are trying to play, attacking football, and improvement when things don't go right, which have all been missing with Slot for at least the entirety of this season.

12 Mar 2026 17:52:48
I think people want to see a trajectory. It's difficult to see that when the results don't align with whatever development arc the team is on.

The easy thing is to 'only' blame the manager. The truth is closer to the manager having just a part to play.

12 Mar 2026 18:31:34
Elliot, Alonso's first job might be to get us back into the Champions League, then maybe the season after we can think about the quad, eh.

12 Mar 2026 19:18:40
How will it be worth it, Varry, if we win nothing and finish 6th in the league? Playing the moral high ground doesn't do anyone any favours.

12 Mar 2026 20:55:38
Oh, but whinging and moaning about everyone and everything helps in some way, does it, Frode? It's a bad season, we all expected better, but it's certainly not the first time nor will it be the last.

You're so short-sighted, mate, truly. When I said stay on until the end, I wasn't talking about the end of this season (in which we are still involved in 2 cup competitions btw, so giving up on it now is just a coward's attitude). I was talking about the end of the roller coaster as we build this new team to dominate domestically and in Europe. Klopp's rebuild was very up and down, and it took him 3 years to get to a point of consistency.

Slot is starting from a higher base (if it's Slot that oversees it), so I don't think it should take 3 years, but it's natural to have inconsistencies at the start of the process, especially given what happened in the summer.

We've lost some important players which has affected us, but we've signed some quality players who could be important for our future. They must be wondering what they've come into with all the bitching and moaning the fans are doing.

I'm not Slot's biggest fan right now, but 6 months ago we all thought he was the way forward. He's struggled this season, and maybe we do need a change, but whilst he's here let's just get behind him and the team, and try to help them do something this season.

12 Mar 2026 21:20:14
Barry I don't want a roller coaster lad I want a train. All pushing not riding it. If there was a plan or a way of playing ( don't blame injuries when the squad is not used) I'm sure most fans would be behind it.

But if me sitting on the couch at home can see what's needed but a coach on the sideline training ground can't .well. I also blame the runt who's playing top trumps ( Hughes) get him further away than slot from the club.

12 Mar 2026 23:09:03
It's pretty arrogant Scouse to assume that you, an armchair manager who's only claim to managerial experience is probably a league title on Football Manager, knows more than an actual manager who's won top tier titles in 2 of the worlds biggest leagues.

We all have our opinions and we are entitled to them but don't for one second believe that you know what's needed more than Arne Slot does. You really don't mate, if it was that easy we'd all be doing it.
