So Haaland wants a £78m package over five years in order to move to the prem this summer according to sly sports.

With the obvious German / Klopp / Dortmund connection, could we dare to dream?

I know we're not that financially flush at the moment, but could we sell a bunch of players to raise funds for the purchase? I know who i would get rid of.

1.) 22 Feb 2021 09:07:35
That figure does not even include the ridiculous signing on and agent fee that Raiola would want. And there is the 100 million euros plus transfer fee to consider as well if we want him this summer.
I'd happily sell Mane and Bobby to fund a nice for Halaand, but it's never going to happen.
We need to freshen up the squad a little with 3 new players and Elliot and Minamino to come back after solid loan spells.
Cannot just go throwing all the money we raise on one player.

2.) 22 Feb 2021 09:26:59
Haaland ain't coming cos we all know we cannot afford the whole pay package, financially. No point talking about it, IMO. It is wishful thinking at this point.

3.) 22 Feb 2021 10:19:47
I think Haaland is a wonderful player and is going to be one of the best players itw over the next 10 years.
However, if we were to go out and sign a quality striker, I’d look at Lautaro Martinez at inter Milan. He’s doing fantastic things currently and while he’s also be on the expensive side he’s be the one I’d go for over Haaland.
That being said if we sign a forward in summer I suspect it’ll be somebody to be a back up, Raphina, Patson Daka, somebody that can push the other players but won’t consistently play.

CB - 1 if of: Konate, DCC, Botman, White.
CM - 1/ 2 of: Bissouma, Zakaria, Sanches, Barella, De Paul
Forward - 1 of: Daka, Watkins, Raphina. (In a fifa world I’d have Martinez over any of them) .

Definitely need 3 solid signings to freshen things up.

4.) 22 Feb 2021 10:26:38
And the fact we won't have champions league football next season.

5.) 22 Feb 2021 10:55:47
Personally think we will get DCC, Bissouma and one of Raphinha/ Neto.
Money can hopefully be raised by selling Shaq, Origi, Wilson, Grujic, Awoniyi, Ojo, Millar, Karius, Woodburn etc.
If one of the current front 3 goes, would not mind Patson Daka or Balogun at all.

6.) 22 Feb 2021 11:08:06
Just going for squad fill out is getting us in this mess, Haaland is a no brainer for me, Gini is off, sell Bobby, Origi, Shaq, Matip, Wilson etc, get there large wage off the book and a bit of transfer money, we have players out on loan who can replace (Elliot, Mini, Grujic) and players around the squad already so no need to buy squad players for the sake of it. We could get Haaland and not break the bank imo.

7.) 22 Feb 2021 11:40:23
It's funny isn't it? Apart from the fact that we were not able to replace Lovren with an injury-resistant CB, we were all pretty happy with the summer business of Tsimikas, Thiago and Jota.

I do agree that we need to make a few more invasive tweaks in the summer.

My picks would be Kounde, Botman (yes two CBs), Bissouma, Raphinha, Haaland. Presumably we'd need to sell at least one big name to fund Haaland.

8.) 22 Feb 2021 12:24:06
FlyPelican, I think Kounde would be too small to be an effective premier league centre back and would be dominated by anyone in the air, given the rather agricultural approach from most of the teams.

9.) 22 Feb 2021 12:52:28
I thought that too but he's aerial stats suggest otherwise. You're right that he is small. But he's super tenacious. Guaranteed fan favourite. And alongside a Botman or VVD he'd be fine.

10.) 22 Feb 2021 14:38:03
Is still not fancy him against the aerial bombardment you get from most of the teams in the premier league. Winning a few headers in Spain where they tend to keep the ball on the deck and don’t really play long ball stuff is one thing, but put him in against the likes of West Brom, Burnley, Sheff United or whatever and he’ll be made mincemeat of.

11.) 22 Feb 2021 16:51:17
I'd sign Haaland's dad just to wind up Roy Keane.

13 Feb 2021 23:09:49
I am assuming this Klopp resigning spiel is just fiction and nothing more. I also had no idea his mum passed away recently so this is all news to me.

From a football perspective it begs the question why Klopp insists on keeping Hendeson as a CB. Not to slate Hendo for any particular reason, but does anyone think that Allisons mis-haps have been partly due to him not trusting the defence in front of him? So much so that he feels the need to come out and "take care" of things?

It's clear we're going through a rough patch, but are people really calling for Klopps head after all he has acheived with us?

1.) 14 Feb 2021 05:53:04
Yes people are calling for Klopps head. It is because people are fickle and have no faith or loyalty. This man spent years building the club and now after a few disappointing results people are ready to give him the flick for the next shiny thing. Its embareassing.

2.) 14 Feb 2021 05:57:27
If anyone should look into themselves its the 11 players on the pitch. How the shoulders dropped and how the intensity just vanished was appalling.
Klopp has worked so hard on these players to get them out of that box they were in and get them winning and now with few injuries some players are again hiding in that box.
Shows how important leaders are. How important some players are.

3.) 14 Feb 2021 07:18:42
TIB, I have no prob with Hendo playing CB next to Kabak cos you simply cannot leave him on his own vs Vardy. Also, we needed organisation back there so it makes sense even tho it is not ideal. As for those saying Klopp out, I’m not even going to address such nonsense from such people.

Akrubbish, I disagree. The players have their all in the game and were pretty much in control. I think due to lack of confidence (Klopp is suffering from this as well) their heads dropped after conceding an unfortunate equalizer with a more than questionable VAR decision and their fragile confidence was rocked. Blaming players who are lacking confidence for lacking confidence, is pretty useless, IMO.

That has to be click bate rubbish. What player that is 29 could command such a fee? Let alone in a team such as Liverpool. I'd take it with a pinch of salt. If it was true, then i'd say thanks very much, you been great, but see you later. It will never happen and i think we all know that to be true.

Why on earth would we want Coutinho back on loan or otherwise? He lied about injury and downed tools to get his dream move because he thought the grass was greener on the otherside. Now he wants back now we're challenging? I'd only take him back if Barcelona paid his wages and we spent zero money whatsoever. Hopefully the prospect of him re-joining is just the eds on a wind up.

Just my 2 pence but i think we will sign Sarr instead, who will be bled into the team over the coming season, in preparation for when Mane is sold next year. I can't see Traore happening, and to be honest i hope it doesn't. Yes he's quick and has brawn but that's all IMO, and for what circa £35-40 mil? Sarr looks like he has more about him tbh.

I'd rather keep him than spend £40+ on Sanchez. I mean, Is Sanchez (assuming that's who we're going for) really that much better with all things considered? I'd rather the club utilised the squad for this season and saved up for next year or when we can afford our number one targets. Shaq is not that bad a player, but Keita would be the first out the door for me.

I agree. He seems like a good lad and it's unfortunate he's injured this seriously and this early in the season. He's been a mini revelation so far. I hope keita and chamberlain can step up and prove their worth in his absence.

No Ed i'm not being deliberately anything. It's clear that we have differing opinions on how things will pan out this season but that's no reason, nor is it very polite to use your standing on this forum to name call or belittle another poster.

{Ed001's Note - you still don't get it do you? I give up. It is nothing to do with opinions, it is to do with the stupidity of the statement you made. If you can't see that, then there is little hope for you. If it is not trolling, then I have no words.}

So Ed why is it incredibly idiotic to have the opinion that we will finish outside the top four? I want to be wrong but i do not see that our overall squad will be strong enough to make it, especially in light of how much stronger the opposition will be this season. You can all mock all you like but the proof as to whether i am justified in my "doom and gloom" prediction will be at the end of the season.

{Ed001's Note - are you being deliberately obtuse? No one can really be this stupid surely? You have to be trolling.}

Not by next week but next season maybe. It's clear for a lot of us already that many members of this squad are passing or have past their best. On top of the fact that there a numerous players who should have been replaced or let go in this window, yet haven't. I think we will be lucky to finish in the top 4 this season with this squad. All our main rivals have strengthened and we haven't. Chelsea last week was a wake up call. A full house, at home, and with the opposition weakened and a draw was the best we could do. There was no one on the bench that could come on and change the game, and that's the problem. Lack of quality in depth. Chelsea, City, and Man U all have strength in depth and quality off the bench. That is why will will finish outside the top 4 IMO.

{Ed001's Note - so because 3 clubs have strength in depth, LFC will finish outside the top 4? Do you realise how incredibly idiotic that statement is? This is just embarrassing.}

We lost because Southgate isn't a very good manager. After dominating the first 20 minutes we sat back and let Italy grow in confidence. Our negative play and careful approach cost us. Not to mention the fact that the media jinxed us the day before saying we were going to win on pens and it's coming home etc. I never want to hear that stupid tune again until it's actually come home. And then getting putting the fate of the game on the shoulders of a 19yo kid who was clearly in no right frame of mind to take a pen. Jeez. What a shambles. You could see it coming a mile off.
