Hello, I never post but read all your comments at least once a day (thanks for all of them). If Slot leaves us this season then I am sure we will remember his first year a lot more than his second and if we are all honest, when he signed we would have took a title and champs qualification in first 2 years.
But due to his playing style and obvious reluctance to change I would like to thank him for his service, wish him all the best and give him our love and appreciation and let him leave us with his head held high.

He deserves that not only cos of last season but because we are Liverpool and we set our bar higher than the rest.

I only hope Edwards and Hughes's self preservation doesn't stop them from making a change. Having the 2 people deciding the fate of a manager who came in, agreeing to give them full control of signings etc against someone who could change the dynamic and potentially cost them their very lucrative positions is not ideal is it?

I'd remove Slot from our banner of iconic managers, he doesn't deserve to be on it. The man is a fraud.

If Slot is a fraud for finishing 5th, then I have some bad news for you regarding Rafa Benitez, Jurgen Klopp, Bob Paisley, and Bill Shankly. Funny story. Shankly won the league, and then finished 7th the following season. I wonder if the best supporters in the world were calling him a fraud back then.

I doubt they were Arnie.

It's not the results, it's the performances, it's the disconnect to the fans and the city, it's the total lack of respect to the squad and youth players. It's the inability to motivate our players to get up for big games (cus they mean nothing to him). Now you tell me, can you say the same bout Shankly?? I don't think so.

I'm ok'd and my memory is dodgy, and it was different times, but I don't recall anyone bad mouthing managers back in the 60s, Shanks, Sir Alf, Matt Busby, Jock Stein, Harry Catterick, Ron Greenwood, Joe Mercer, Bill Nicholson, as examples, were all respected.

The one that does stand out was Don Revie - he was respected but probably a bit more grudgingly. It changed in the late 60s when it started to become a bit more tribal and towards the end of the decade violence started (or restarted apparently) amongst (unsegregated) fans.

What Jimjim said.

Arnie did any of them that finished low after a title win have £450 million doubled up the wall?

A title winning team strengthened to finish forth due to inept fitness and tactics?

13 May 2026 23:08:25
Didn't Don Revie leave the England job to take some lucrative one abroad, can't remember who team though, that's why he wasn't liked.

13 May 2026 23:39:20
I'll remember this time for how emotionally immature and incapable many adults are at having coherent conversations beyond one variable.

13 May 2026 23:59:05
Strom, I think Revie was disliked before then. There were accusations that he tried to bribe officials when he was Leeds manager. Pretty sure some players in that team got accused of trying to bribe opp players as well.

14 May 2026 00:17:55
WYR.. I knew his team Leeds wasn't liked because of how they played, but didn't know about the bribing though. But did you see the interview with him n Clough on the TV.. a proper old skool.debate, no holding back, fascinating stuff.

14 May 2026 01:46:06
I have seen that interview a few times over the years. It was excellent. Fair play to Revie for doing it, if I was him I wouldn't have. Clough was funny and brutal at the same time back then.
Don't know if I am remembering this right, but did Clough use to go on Match of the Day around that time?
