Just having a look at experienced CBS to come in and here is who Transfermarkt have shown.
Schlotterbeck - good age and a release clause active for us of £45-£50m. Age 26.
Lacroix - done well at Palace. His estimated value is £40-£45m. Age 26.
Zabarnyi - just moved to PSG and has Prem experience, plus not getting much game time.
£50m plus I suspect.
Inacio and Diomande of Sporting. Experienced due and linked with both before. 22/24 in age and again £40-£50m estimated prices.
Do we really spend £40m plus on a Virg replacement? For me we don't. I suspect Gomez will be retained for his final year and some of the promising youngsters will be given a chance.

Going into next season with 35-year-old VVD, injury-prone Gomez, 19-year-old Leoni coming off an ACL, and 21-year-old Jacquet in his first season in the Premier League would be absolute madness.

Cookie Monster, we've not paid £60m for Jacquet just so that he can spend 2 months gaining experience. He's going straight into the first team.

We should carry 5 CBs next season.
The current 4 plus another experienced first team player. Ideally from the Prem already, but otherwise someone capable to step right in.

I wouldn't mind Gomez, Vvd, Leoni, and Jacquet bring our main four options for CB going into the season. We did buy highly rated youngsters like Ndiaye, Adekoya, and Ndukwe in Jan, so they can fill in for injuries if there are any.
They are around the same age as Leoni anyway, so shouldn't be too young to play a few games here and there. I don't think we should buy a CB unless one of the starting four leaves.
