I think that is the issue, KP, Dom, Gravy and Wirtz are not a good midfield mix as good as the individuals might be.

I think the problem with that 3 kp is that they're not aggressive enough. Not enough bite in them. As Souness would say, good son-in-law material. Need 1 with a bit of 'nastiness' for the want of a better word.

There is no problem with Grav and Wirtz together in midfield. The problem was the moronic tactic of emptying the midfield and asking Grav to push higher up the pitch without somebody alongside him who can fill in for him because Macca was too busy rolling on the floor.

Grav needs to become a permanent progressive 6 and pull up his socks or he'll be out the door. He was appalling last season and did nothing to warrant that contract.
Currently Sob is a starter. Macca and Grav can easily be improved on. I.

I don't understand all this talk of Gravenberch as an out and out 6.
He doesn't read the game defensively very well.
He cannot tackle and isn't very good in the air.
He is fairly press resistant, as the modern terminology goes, but that is it.
Szoboszlai, Wirtz and a proper number 6, and the whole team is more balanced.

Gravenberch has all the attributes to be an excellent winger/inside forward imo.
Get a solid DM in, or play Endo.

Gravenberch is not that good in my opinion. No exceptional skills other than a nice turn and driving run once a game.

As Ron says, we need to strengthen the midfield pronto. To me, that's the most important part of the game, control that you have a much better chance of winning the games. Not sure about Wirtz n Grav in the middle, can't see us winning things with them 2, esp on last season's form.

As it is highly unlikely Dom-Grav-Wortz would start all 55 games together, then the other two would play plenty.
