I mean, I get your point, Irish Rover, but the last World Cup final is a bit of a counter argument here also.
And, as a fellow Irish man (not English, my point being), I think England should celebrate this.
I know their aim was to win, but like, this is their best outcome in 15 attempts.
I don't know why everyone is so anti anything but the win.

I think the disappointment is more about the way we went out on Wednesday.
France went out tamely, too, and I'm interested to know how the country reacted to that.

A pointless match that I'm sure none of the players want to play. They all claim to be burned out with the huge amount of games they currently play for club and country. This is just another money cow for FIFA to sell tickets and advertising.
Plus it's padding stats, like improving Mbappe's goals tally in a meaningless match. Surprised Kane didn't start so he could also increase his tally. It's like a school sports day with participation medals for all the losers.
