Considering the number of "can't defend" and "constantly being run through" posts on here it's interesting reading the statistical analysis on the BBC website. We currently have the 3rd lowest xGA in the league (only Arsenal and Forrest have a better xGA) and the joint-best defensive record.

Does anyone really think that these XG stats mean anything. I prefer what my own eyes tell me which is that we have improved defensively from last season but that we still lack a bit of discipline/bite in our midfield. XG stats don't tell me that.

If that's what stats say, then I have completely changed my mind. Who needs a midfielder that can tackle or has some defensive discipline. Always thought them talents were overrated in a midfielder. Haha.

SHipley apart fro m the XG stuff I do not really care for in general, it just shows that at the end of the day, football is a team sport.
So defensively, we are doing well because guys are doing a better job of tracking back and covering spaces esp. out wide on the counter.
A player can help but the team is ultimately what makes things tick over.
