Red card aside, munez looks the correct type of signing. The old klopp style that worked out long term. Good price and enough to work with to improve and most importantly, the right attitude on the pitch.
These 100 plus million signings need to stop. I'm not getting into the obvious, but it's not worked for us and doesn't ever seem to work.
Replace the scouting system if this is the fruits of it.
Wirtz and barcola were never proven superstars to be worthy of them prices. Rather Take the risk on players that Bournemouth for example sign then we and others come in for ludicrous money.

Thought he was decent today. Needs to work on his final ball/end product but bags of potential.

Munoz looks great. I think it might be time to admit that Wirtz is a dud and move him on.

I just thought the fixture outplayed us today. We were so focused on city being charged we forgot to play. First half we contained them but as soon as Gravenberch got that red card we fell to bits.
We were missing influencial players but if we could have gotten the first goal who knows how city would react. If we could only string together a few passes and make better choices in the final third.
City can put three on any opposition so I am not too dejected, it still smarts though.
With a bit of luck out injury record will get better and we can go on a run before the next international disruption to the league.

I haven't even contemplated this in my head let alone to post it here but Wirtz is not and will not work for Liverpool. And the worst thing is his body expression is starting to say it too. The things he was already good at is fading away too.
But I disagree with this big money singing is a problem narratives. The issue is this opportunistic approach instead of addressing the positions we desperately need.
Remember we won the league because we decided to sing VVD and Alison, the most expensive defender and goalkeeper when they were signed.
Anyways today we were in a tough situation. 3 important players injured and our best performer on the pitch getting a red card.

In those times we also supplemented the greats with an excellent supporting cast that gelled into a team with a clear identity. Players like Robbo and Henderson were almost as important as VVD and Alli.
The issue we have right now is that very few of our buys in the last five windows have been successful. The identity has been lost, and the end result is disjointed. Occasionally good, but more often than not it's been pretty poor in the last eighteen months.

Nah, I disagree. We actually did not play the occasion. We played the game with the tools we had at our disposal esp. when you consider how shorthanded we were going in with losing Szobo in the warmup which made things worse.
I was relying on him to be the entidote to Anderson as they are essentially the same types of player with great technique and athleticism in the press. Sadly, it didn't happen. Neither did the first goal because well, you are missing the players who could get you that. One leads to the other, my friend.
And even without our big guns in attack and CAM, I thought we were good esp. when we upped the tempo in the second half as Grav was killing them whenever we won possession in their final thrird.
As for the red card, Klopp said once that City is the worst team to play when you are a man down. We just saw the result once again.
It is what it is.

If Szob had been fit then Grav wouldn't have been killing them.
One leads to the other.

OliRed, is that the same Szobozslai that you said doesn't have a creative bone in his body, no?
12 Oct 2026 06:38:35
Rigsby, you're not supposed to mention that, mate.
We also didn't lose Szoboszlai in the warm up, but I'm being picky.
