What has happened to all the wingers and attacking midfielders in world football. There seems to be a huge shortage of good wingers. On other news, a couple of guys from the Gulf I work with are adamant Allison is off that way. We are seeking a new goalkeeper this summer. I would be surprised if Liverpool let another leader go though.

PSG are snaffling them all.

Think they be out there, just got to find the ones that fit our play and will improve. Ala Sadio. Let's stop going for the big names and go for the good fit.
17 Jul 2026 13:55:45
Spot on, Scouse John.

Sadio was already top drawer imo, although he did manage to somehow find another level. I don't think there were ever questions about his technical or physical level, but there was an external perception that he had attitude problems. I don't see many opportunities like him in the market. He was an absolute bargain.

Saw an interview with Allison the other day in which he strongly implied he's committed to staying and looking forward to being one of the leaders.
More importantly, what's happened to all the RBs and DM/6's - we don't have a credible RB to start the season (AI already said Bradley's still long term injured) and I think we all agree a proper DM is essential for an Iraloa team with full backs and rest of midfield bombing forwards.
I suppose Grav could be played as a 6, but not ideal, as for Frimpong as RB, maybe as cover or in the early cup rounds, but not in the PL, surely...

Semenyo was the one we really should've got.
17 Jul 2026 14:42:42
@IraolaCoaster, I strongly believe we will be replacing Endo with Kaishu Sano, who is a proper DM. He will be our starter and Grav will be predominantly a box to box #8, and we'll see the best of Grav there.
Our Midfield will have incredible depth after this.
Add in Rayan (fingers crossed) and a capable player who can play RB & CB, and we are sorted.
17 Jul 2026 14:53:34
Sorry Skezza, but Grav's best version is not as a box to box. We tried with Klopp, and, to an extent, last season with Slot, and neither was good. Grav needs to be deep as a #6, which was his best version.

Don't think that Alisson will go this season, as reported elsewhere by clickbaits and ITKs so, in the words of the late great Ed002, I think your friends are teasing you.
I could see us getting another keeper anyway, but only if we sell Mamar, to be anointed as Alisson's heir. However, I do not know how well regarded and/or how the development of Jaros and Pecsi is coming along as one of them may end up following Alisson.
Interesting article (albeit it's on Anfield Watch!) that we did have the opportunity to sign Jaoa Gomes and that he wanted to come to us, but we turned it down on the basis that the profile of midfielder we want is more a high press, DLP like Wharton.
We may not get the dedicated destroyer - Sadiki, Camara etc - that a lot of folks here are crying out for, as that is not what Iraola wants, so brace yourselves!

I'd go for Kounde RB/CB, good link with Jaquet. Guess £55m.
Maybe Nusa, guess £60m. Norwegians have good links with LFC.
Maybe Stiller, the German DM, guess £50m?
All prices are just from what I can remember reading/seeing.
If these are correct and we sell someone like a Gakpo, Elliott or whoever, we could then move on Rayan £80m £90m.
Not a big spend window. AI can work with the squad, which I'm looking forward to. Low spend then, if something required in January, we're in a good place.
17 Jul 2026 15:11:37
Nusa is off to Roma.
17 Jul 2026 15:11:21
Skezza check out why Sano got arrested in Japan. Wouldn't want him anywhere near this squad. Gomes was the best option for ages, profile and fee but we said no. Perhaps Jones, Elliot and Macca stay then. Priority is wingers at the moment and a fit RB.
17 Jul 2026 15:29:22
Sano's background is 'complicated' as KP has said.
I posted elsewhere that one of the clickbait sites is currently asserting that we turned down the opportunity to sign Gomes (and he apparently wanted to come to us) because we want a different profile of player - Wharton was who they suggested.
17 Jul 2026 16:06:22
Given the reported asking prices for players, some of whom are fairly average imo, it makes you wonder how much we would have needed to buy prime Bobby, Mo and Sadio if they were in their early / mid 20's today.
{Ed025's Note - £3 million each?.. :)
17 Jul 2026 16:00:26
Sano can stay where he is, not need for us to be signing deviants.
17 Jul 2026 16:54:34
Sano would be a very bad signing. The very fact he plays for the national team has disappointed a lot of (mainly female) football fans in Japan. Can you imagine the endless scrutiny and bad image for the club in England, let alone Asia, where we have a big following? Incidentally, his younger brother at Nijmegen (and probably off to Hoffenheim soon) will grow into a much better player, I think.
17 Jul 2026 16:57:28
Just seen Sano stuff people are talking about, seems troubling, which is a shame as I liked the look of him for this team.
I still think Grav is best as a number 8 with more freedom, we need a tenacious battler in there as our 6, who doesn't get caught out time and time again like Grav did last season.
We have not seen Grav with a destroyer type player alongside him in a Liverpool shirt yet. When this happens, I really think he'll be unlocked and will drive us up the pitch.
