Quick update on the names I mentioned yesterday. Still nothing concrete linking Liverpool to any of them, which is kind of the point of the theory.
El Mala has had another Dortmund bid go in, Fernández-Pardo now has Atlético pushing with City and Spurs sniffing around, Camavinga looks like he could actually be available if Madrid decide to sell, Lewis-Skelly is still being offered around, Bergvall is still one to watch and Frattesi looks Lazio-bound.
So if Liverpool are going to do another Muñoz/Araújo type move, Fernández-Pardo and El Mala are probably the two situations I'd watch closest right now. Other clubs are doing the negotiating and basically setting the price for them.

Bergvall's not crap, Victor. Bit harsh. 50 Premier League games under his belt by 20 years of age. Don't know how anyone can be written off at that age as crap. Certainly not someone who's done as well as him. The two years he was at Spurs, they've nearly been relegated and been a s***show.
We're given experienced winners a pass for last season because they had to endure the "trauma" of playing under a coach who had clinched No.20 the season before.

Unfortunately, I've seen him play, Florian. Nothing special about him, headless chicken at best and to make matters worse he's a Man United supporter, apparently, he's desperate to play for them, which is fine as I'm all for United signing crap players.

That's no bother, Victor. Have to say the Utd thing wouldn't bother me one bit. Just don't think that we, as a fanbase, can look at Bergvall and see crap while a lot of us are happy for Endo and Trey Nyoni to be two of our 6 midfielders going into a 60 game season. Think we need to give our heads a wobble sometimes.

Bergval is mediocre and not a huge improvement on what we have.
Camavinga is a sick note, and we're already linked with Gavi, who is another one of them.
I would give anything to sign Sadiki or maybe take a punt on Bsleba, even.

There's not a young midfielder we've been linked to in England like Scott, Wharton that you could just say would be a definite success and even get into our 11. You're buying them for what they could be as much as for what they actually are now.
I'd put Bergvall as having as much potential as them two. Archie Gray too I'd have up there with them.

I wouldn't want Bergvall at number 6 any more than I want Endo there or any more than Nyoni could play there, as I don't want Endo playing there because he's too old and doesn't have the legs, and Nyoni simply isn't a number 6 (there's no one in our squad capable of beating competently playing there).
Bergvall has always looked s**** whenever I've seen him, playing at number 6 requires intelligence, discipline, and he's got none of that. Nothing special about him and about as Spursy a player as I've ever seen.

Victor is very harsh at times, but he's right about Bergvall. He is a head less chicken with absolutely no quality on the ball. Players like Bergvall and Spence playing so much in the last 2 years is the reason Spurs are where they are. They're part of the problem.

I agree with Victor. Nothing special whatsoever about Bergvall. He would not improve us in the slightest. In fact, he'd do the exact opposite. If we're intent on winning the big trophies, we require much much better than him, and there are much much better out there. Move on.

I wouldn't want him at 6 myself. That's not his position. And MK, look again. I think it's harsh. Bergvall is just over a year older than Nyoni, who has 21 Premier League minutes to his name. He's been in the Spurs 1st team since he was 18, and nearly every time you, me, or Victor would have seen him play he would have been a teenager. So to see phrases like headless chicken used when describing a kid footballer is laughable.
Especially from you, MK, who usually backs academy age players getting a chance. It's also why I laugh when I see posters on here saying the kids should play more. It's the same people who then slag and write off a kid if he's not the finished article by 18,19 or 20. Well, agree to disagree, lads.

Headless chicken is ridiculous. He's a 20-year-old who has looked very comfortable in the toughest league in the world. He would be a solid rotation option for any club.
But, ultimately, I do agree he's not good enough now to break into our team, and he's definitely not a capable 6.

I love how we seem to want players who have never been injured. Like that exists.
Whenever we are linked with any player, the same posters pop up with 'injury prone', 'sick note', it's actually quite funny.
There is a process in place whenever you sign anyone, it's called a medical. You'd hope that would pick up any injuries a player has or any long standing problems.
You have to understand that injuries are part of the game and are inevitable with all players. Mo Salah was one of the most robust players around, but he is not the norm, and even he got injured on occasion.
I get people's concerns about injuries, I really do, but I think we have to let the club do their due diligence. Sometimes we'll be unlucky with injuries, that's just how it goes.

That's fair enough, Riosstepover, but there are also players like Sturridge, Agger, Thiago, Keita, Gomez, even Redknapp whose body just can't hack it. They all would have passed many a medical in their day. They all must have passed one with us, but they were disaster injury-wise. If people are using phrases like sick note and injury prone, there's usually a reason for it.

I'm not saying they are world beaters but they definitely ain't crap! I've not seen much of Sadiki and I'd hazard a guess that neither have most people here but jump on the back of ed1 liking him. I'm sure he's decent of course but just not seen him play really. The continual slagging of players etc does wear thin

Absolutely, Florian, I'm not saying some players aren't more susceptible to injuries, but it seems every player we are interested in, the first thing some do is check their injury record, and if they've had more than 5 games injured in the last 2 seasons they are labelled injury prone, and it's used as reason why we shouldn't sign them.
The club aren't stupid, they're not going to sign a player who they know will be injured most of the time. Sure, it happens sometimes like with the players you mentioned, but that's part of the game and always a risk when buying a player.
Keita, for example, had a really good injury history when we signed him, Frimpong the same, but missed most of last season.
Redknapp is different, as we signed him as a 17 year old kid.
Isak had an average injury record, and was labelled injury prone, but the injury he ended up getting had nothing to do with any previous injury and could've happened to anyone.
Thiago was a risk worth taking that didn't work out.
We just have to trust the club to do their due diligence. Let's be honest, we know nothing about what injuries players have had and what caused them. The club employ people to know this stuff in minute detail.

Didn't we buy Aquilani when he was injured, prob wrong spelling, also club are a bit daft as they have kept sick note Gomez for years too long and he's always been injured half the season, most businesses would have had him in to HR and given him his cards.
Now looks like the club going to do it again this season and then let him go on a free, now that is crazy stupid.
