Hey guys, been following this site for years but rarely post - but one question that's been on mind is about our midfield. I completely appreciate that our midfield is mainly about industry and graft to win the battle in the middle of the park and to play the ball quickly.

However, do we think there are players out there who would be able to fulfil that role while also having greater technical attributes than our current 3 of Wiji/ Fab/ Hendo? (All 3 players I love btw)

I know we have Keita and Ox to return to full form and fitness, but a lack of goals and assists from our midfield is always something that can be improved upon - and are the any (realistic) options out there that the club would look at in the summer?

Sorry for rambling but I hope my question makes sense.

Cheers all,

DC.

Am sure there are players out there that could do better. The one I wouldn’t swap for anyone is fab. Now he’s s settled he’s outstanding.

I agree, although I feel Ox and Gini can fill this role if required. Ox driving at the defence before his injury was fantastic! However the more central positions Trent has been taking up this year could be a tactical tweak to accommodate a more creative force in the middle. Is this something anyone else has picked up on?

I’d personally like Saul Niguez from athletico. He has everything and that touch of class too.

Just read The Athletic article James Pearce wrote on Pep Lijnders. Really fascinating stuff - would definitely be interested to see if he has the potential to take over from Klopp in the future.

Of course, being a great coach and being a great manager are very different things, but I think it makes sense to keep things in the family as a club. Look at the success it brought to the club from Shankley through to Dalglish!

Be interested to get other people's thoughts though.
