Evening Eds. Thank you for all the hard work you all put into to keeping us up to date with all the knowledge that you can pass on, I know there seems to be well documented interest in
Huijsen from Bournemouth but would Murillo from Forest be of interest? He has looked good this season again and he's still only 22 and fits the FSG profile of buying young talent.
{Ed001's Note - there have certainly been some looks at him. I would assume they will maintain interest but I can't see Marinakis allowing him to be sold unless it is an exorbitant fee. They are very good in the market these days, you only have to look at the summer, when they bought Anderson from Newcastle. Even though they were taking Newcastle's best young player, who they were only selling reluctantly to sort out their PSR issues, they still stiffed them on the deal by making them buy an unwanted keeper for a ridiculous fee as part of the deal. So I wouldn't hold your breath for any move from us for him.}

Huijsen has a fixed buyout whereas Murillo doesn’t and like Ed said, the forest owner would make someone pay stupid money for. So just on that front Huijsen is a more attractive prospect. My fear is that we miss out on Huijsen and end up going for dross like Guehi.

Not like VV to make a negative comment zzzzzzz.
3.) 21 Apr 2025 21:41:17
Watching the match analysis and carra reckons 5/ 6 players and at 1st I thought he’s mental but after thinking I do think 5/ 6 are needed 2 forwards 2 defenders probably 3 if/ when Trent leaves and still a combative 6 aswell .
4.) 21 Apr 2025 22:09:11
Admittedly I haven't seen much of Murillo but I thought he was very very good against us. Is he left sided cb as well? Either him or Huijsen would be excellent VVD heirs imo.
5.) 21 Apr 2025 23:23:47
Murillo strikes me as the sort of player that looks amazing when sat deep being physical and heading crosses and deep balls away all game long. Nothing wrong with being good at that but so is Harry Maguire, TBF so is Nathan Phillips! We don't play that way so I am not convinced it would be a good fit. Huijsen seems better suited but just my opinion.
6.) 22 Apr 2025 08:15:07
With Trent leaving we lose a load of creativity going forward and I think we could do a lot worse than take Kevin de Bruyne as someone to bring off the bench ??.
{Ed078's Note - KDB "off the bench", really? Paying those wages for an "impact sub", who wouldn't come anyway.
7.) 22 Apr 2025 14:48:37
How do you know Trent is leaving Shultzy? Are you privy to information that nobody else is?
Just curious.

Assuming Trent does leave, for arguments sake, and Bradley get first shot at the RB role we gain a fair bit in terms of defence (which is always useful with a defender) . Remind me again which Real Madrid superstar was it that the lad floored in the CL?

Have seen a random click bait link tonight which says we’re interested in Max Wieffer from Feyenoord. Is this as it seems to be or are we changing our targets as the last week approaches? Not a name I’ve seen mentioned on here. Again as always I’m extremely grateful for any the Ed’s can shed on this.
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of an approach from Liverpool although other clubs are keen - and Liverpool signed Endo.}

A name mentioned quite a few times very early in the transfer window was Gabriel Veiga from Celta Vigo. Has this interest died withthe 2 midfield purchases of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai or would he be an option now we seem to have lost out on Lavia to Chelsea?
{Ed002's Note - Gabri Veiga (CM/AM) Attracting scouts from PL and La Liga - and critically PSG. Real Madrid offer an option but the player wants to be a starter and he won't be there, so interest has cooled subject to departures. PSG will likely push as they reshape their attack. Newcastle have made an offer and expect that they can complete the transfer but it seems very unlikely, but he would be a starter and that is seen as critical. Arsenal can now be discounted. For Manchester United and Liverpool, an alternative to Bellingham but both have moved on or dropped interest. Others interested in Bellingham could also turn to him - Manchester City as a Bernardo Silva replacement and Chelsea as a Mason Mount replacement, but both have preferred options. Ironically, the goals have started flowing as he has switched to CM from AM. Spurs are being kept informed of the situation whilst the figure out how to replace Hojbjerg. Wildcard will be Barcelona but they are constrained over wages and have other priorities. Napoli offer a very attractive option as a Zielinski replacement and are likely to win out. Celta Vigo will not look to sell but will perhaps not refuse a very good offer matching his €40M release clause.}

Not what we need shut the shop.

Saw a story on one of the click bait sites which has mentioned Xavi as a replacement if Klopp could be tempted away. How would that go down with everyone?

Is this not the best way for the club to do it's transfer business? Keep it quiet and between clubs involved. Look at how the Caicedo and Lavia deals worked out for the club and the media coverage it sparked. Let's wait and see how it pans out. I'm as nervous as anyone about the impending closure of the window and us failing to bring in anyone else, but I have faith in the fact that the eds have said the club are trying to get deals done.
{Ed002's Note - Perhaps saying nothing would be better.}

Don't you think Jorge knows a thing or two about German football and the player, who by the sound of some people is highly regarded in the German league?
Reading in the daily rags that we are also looking to Docoure Gravenberch and Amrabat at the same time. Could be a busy week if they want all 4.
{Ed001's Note - do people forget that Klopp makes the final decision on every signing?}
14 Aug 2023 11:32:49
Feel sorry for Lavia. It's been a long saga with us chasing him and then we drop the interest overnight and go for someone else at over twice the price. Wouldn't blame Lavia for walking away from LFC now if Southampton have accepted the offer.
11 Aug 2023 22:23:58
I don't think it was deliberate but maybe we bid for Caicedo as Chelsea showed interest in Lavia who we had been pursuing for months. This whole mess has been a bit shambolic today. We've missed targets before and will again. Move on and find a better fit for us now. Whether that is back to Lavia and pay the fee Southampton now want or Gravenberch or someone we haven't considered.
Can I add my thanks to the Eds for the amazing job you do here, putting up with the constant questions, frequently repetitive as they often are. I have been a long time reader and watcher for news here and couldn't imagine a transfer window without this site.
{Ed002's Note - Thanks, we have tried to explain but there has been a great deal of abuse today.}
