Hi ed001,

As simply as you can, how do we go through against athletico?

Anfield alone is a big advantage but we know they will happily play for the 0 0 and they are very good at doing it.

We have struggled against defensive teams in the past. So in your opinion what team would you put out and how would you go about getting the result?

Cheers.

IGAH

{Ed001's Note - the key will be not conceding on the break, so we can't go all in. It is only one goal, all we need is to have players in midfield willing to break into the box and run with the ball. Hopefully Ox will do that, as I expect he will start. Other than that, I am not sure we need to do anything different from usual unless we do concede or time starts ticking down in the second half and the game is still 0-0.}

I really hope we don’t concede, that could be curtains for us unfortunately. Fingers crossed we can make a good start in the first 30 mins, I’m glad the game isn’t behind closed doors, that would have made Atletico’s task so much easier.

2.) 10 Mar 2020 14:06:32
Thunder shock them with lightening attack and press for first 30 minutes and score 3. Then do an athletico over them for the remainder.

3.) 10 Mar 2020 15:15:13
They will sit back tight, time waste, feint injury, whilst trying too hit us on the break, we have too be very switched on, patient and clinical, easier said than done this athletico team are very streetwise.

4.) 10 Mar 2020 15:33:03
I really hope Hendo is available, and Ox starts, as he can drive at them and also get beyond when bobby drops deep and creates space.

If we can set a good tempo early on. Goodnight and thanks for coming Diego, better luck next time!

5.) 10 Mar 2020 17:01:22
The fans need to boo them loudly everytime they get the ball / start cheating for the whole game like the City game. They won't be ableto take it.

6.) 10 Mar 2020 17:56:44
Maybe we try a quickly taken corner?

It's worked in the past.

7.) 10 Mar 2020 19:24:28
You think, Hailstones? Lol. On a more serious note, there is no need to panic esp. early on. We as fans, have to be very patient early on cos AM will not roll over and just escort us into their defence without a challenge. Passes will go astray, balls will be given away and most importantly, there is only one goal in it so as long as we don't concede then we are in the tie.

Also remember that this may go to extra time, just like we did in 2010 vs AM when Forlan scored the all-important away goal and we were eliminated in the EL semis via away goals. Keep calm, support the team, don't turn your backs on them regardless of what is going on and stick together. Come on, You Redmen!

8.) 11 Mar 2020 01:21:21
Getting the first goal is crucial, . AM go 1 up we need 3 and they will defend and time waste to an extreme. If we can go 1 up anfield will erupt and atletico would be hurt badly without their lead to protect and will have to rethink their game plan to an extent which would likely play in our favour.

Hi ED001,

In one of your podcast recently you mentioned something Leicester tweeted before our match, which basically did the team talk.

What was the tweet as I haven't seen it nor can I find it.?

Thanks.

IGAH

{Ed001's Note - I can't remember now sorry, it was a while ago and my memory has gone blank.}

1.) 19 Jan 2020 12:43:15
They basically tweeted that they would beat us and titled themselves as the saviours of football.
Google it for the full explination.

2.) 19 Jan 2020 12:51:28
I’m sure it was along the lines of let’s hope the foxes get some liver bird for super.

3.) 19 Jan 2020 12:52:07
*supper.

4.) 19 Jan 2020 16:22:25
I uploaded it after we smacked them, it's still on the sightings page near the end.

#SAVEFOOTBALL.

5.) 19 Jan 2020 20:46:53
If you look in sightings at the top of the page you will see what they tweeted and then quickly deleted it from their website.

Hi ED001.

With klopp staying until 2024, how do you see the league panning out the next 4 years if guardiola leaves end of season?

Obviously a lot can happen in 4 years but I just can't see anyone compering with us.

Lampard ogs arteta are all projects. Whoever City get won't be as good as pep.

So what's your general consensus of the rest of klopps legacy?

IGAH.

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say. Why couldn't the new City manager be as good as Pep? He might be even better for City for all we know. Are you ruling out Ancelotti with Everton? I am shocked, apparently he is one of the best managers in the world, which is why he has taken the Everton job, or so I have been told anyway. Now they have him as manager, apparently they are certain to win everything so we are just all playing for second place!

Honestly though, it is hard to say as we could get hit with long term injuries to van Dijk etc and struggle.}

1.) 21 Dec 2019 15:13:34
Every season we imagine it's going to go the same way as the season before. It very rarely does. I hate to say it but I think utd are only a few signings from competing and I think they'll be there next season.

I agree that Liverpool will be the team to beat but there is no guarantee that we will run away with it. Anyway, we haven't won this one yet. Like Dublin said on focus, a couple of bad results and city and Leicester are right back in it.

Ancelloti and Everton, good appointment Tbf.

2.) 21 Dec 2019 16:58:28
Is pep leaving city at the end of the season Ed?

{Ed001's Note - don't know sorry.}

3.) 21 Dec 2019 16:59:13
Unless Man United get a decent manager I can’t see them realistically challenging for the Premier League for the next couple of years! Lampard hasn’t had enough time to be judged but Ole doesn’t look like he can bring Man Utd up the level of Liverpool or Man City now.
Man City will always have the money to compete and will no doubt have a top manager wanting to come in if Guardiola does leave.
2 years ago everyone was wondering if Man City were going to dominate for the next decade they were that good! Sport is so unpredictable and that’s what makes it so great!
At the moment for the first time in a long time all the Liverpool players are happy, the manager is happy, the fans are happy and everyone working behind the scenes are happy so anything is possible to achieve this season!
It will be interesting to see if Salah will push to leave in the Summer, or if Real Madrid make a big offer for Mane as we know Zidane would like him at the club.

4.) 21 Dec 2019 18:30:29
To be fair Ed01. Everton might have a chance of winning a derby now as Ancelotti knows how to set a team up against us. Let’s be honest if he wins a derby he will instantly become an Everton legend. If he wins at Anfield they’ll be building him a statue and naming the new ground after him. Seriously though I like Ancelotti and if he’d of spent the money on players that Everton have the last few seasons I’m sure they’d be miles ahead of where they are now. They’d probably be top four for me.

5.) 21 Dec 2019 21:34:11
Chelsea have the money to compete but.

6.) 21 Dec 2019 22:29:42
Liverpool and Man City have the best two managers in the world right now so if pep does leave then I’m not sure who his could be. Not to say they couldn’t come in and buy success just like the rest.
