Is the man u interest a worry or will we agree it b4 they have a chance to think about it?

2.) 12 Jul 2015 22:40:23
Take your word for it! Haha as i have said benteke will NOT become a liverpool player! FACT!!!! Sturridge, ings, origi and balotelli will be all we have come the start of the season! Sinclair going on loan, lambert and borini will both be sold!

3.) 12 Jul 2015 22:46:55
With how long our Medicals take i'd say Wednesday/Thursday would be more accurate!

4.) 13 Jul 2015 07:10:47
Sienna. highly unlikely that we will start the season in that position. Ballo and origi may even be loaned. Benteke will be coming I reckon. if not then I fully expect us to sign a proven goal scorer. We have too. don't forget that studge is injured

5.) 13 Jul 2015 08:32:01
Sterling played 129 games with 23 goals. 1 goal every 5.6 games. You tell me was he a success.

07 Jul 2015 08:02:15
I have it on fairly good authority that Christian Benteke will be in and around Melwood for a medical before Friday.

Tim Sherwood albeit has said he wants to keep him, but also knows Benteke has already set his sights higher.

A fee of 26.5 million has been agreed between the two clubs with a further 3.5 as add ons.

Crikey, that actually sounds believeable!

Either Tilly has some really good info, or is an exceptional story teller. lol!

2.) 07 Jul 2015 09:13:48
I hope it's true!

3.) 07 Jul 2015 09:46:38
I work in a small village in Cheshire and friends with a scout for the under 19s for LFC.

I'm not saying he always gets things correct but I'm pretty certain on this one guys.

Nod nod wink wink!

4.) 07 Jul 2015 10:15:15
Hope its NOT true

5.) 07 Jul 2015 10:20:31
Thank you Tilly

6.) 07 Jul 2015 10:29:40
So now there's a vacancy for an under 19 coach at Melwood? Cheers Tilly.

7.) 07 Jul 2015 10:40:10
I heard a few days ago that £22m with £3m in add-ons had been proposed and people at the club were feeling confident we could do a deal. This isn't too far away from what Tilly has heard, so there is likely some truth in it.

8.) 07 Jul 2015 11:02:29
Still far too much and not the player for us happy with our transfers until now if it's true

9.) 07 Jul 2015 12:38:10
why not clee red?? explain. i am at a loss to why people are so against benteke? he scores goals!! i like to hear peoples opinions on but i am not getting this one. who would you suggest?

10.) 07 Jul 2015 12:58:05
Because he doesn't suit our style of play.

He is a target man, we hardly ever put crosses into the box.

11.) 07 Jul 2015 13:14:51
All these people saying he doesn't fit our style of play have probably never seen Benteke play. While he's good in the air, he's certainly very adept on the ground. He scores a lot of headers because Villa are a crossing team, not because that's all he's good at.
Also, Rodgers spoke about a change in direction in terms of style of play. Its very possible he'll get us crossing that bit more. With players like Milner and Hendo I am sure he'll get good service.
The main issue with Benteke is his price but if he completes our team then so be it. We already have a fast tricky striker in Sturridge. Benteke offers a different option.I really don't get all the hating. He wouldn't be my first choice either but he's still a very good player.

12.) 07 Jul 2015 13:19:46
@Milky Joe

I'd hardly ever put a cross in the box too if I had Sterling playing upfront. When Balotelli/Lambert played, we did tend to cross more.

13.) 07 Jul 2015 13:23:09
Maybe our style of play will change? Let's be honest we've not won anything I know we came close the season before last but we had one of the worlds best players.
Milner delivers a good cross and I'm pretty sure Clyne will be expected to put crosses in from deep so maybe Benteke is the right man. To be honest I can't think of another proven premier league striker who would be available right now

14.) 07 Jul 2015 13:29:24
May be we hardly cross because we haven't got a target man (who plays regularly)

15.) 07 Jul 2015 14:57:16
You guys that want benteke have lost your marbles!

It will be the same as the balotelli and carroll scenarios mark my words, benteke will struggle to score in our team and the way we play, then by next july we will be trying to off load him for a fair loss.

More than half of bentekes bpl goals have been from crosses into the box while last season lfc were 20th in the table for crosses put into the box(by a fair bit i might add)

Its a recipe for disaster and a club like ours should be targeting players that fit with how we do things especially for 25 mill, not making huge gambles. If he joins i will have no choice except to back him but please FSG don't do it.

Great site though all the other footy sites are a joke.

16.) 07 Jul 2015 15:57:30
We hardly put the ball in the box for the following reasons
A. We didn't have anyway capable of getting on the end of them
B. Our wide players and full backs were not capable of putting a decent cross in and rarely beat the first man
C. If you watch Liverpool matches we rarely go out wide, full backs rarely overlap the winger to give that option.
All that together you wouldn't put crossesin the box. However with clyne and moreno, coutinho firmino and milner providing width, Henderson is no mug when it comes to crossing, benteke provides the perfect target man. Also as a player who wins most headers and holds the ball up well, the advannced midfielders should have a field day. This is going to change our style of play and I have such a good feeling about it. My biggest concern is our defensive frailties but that's another conversation

17.) 07 Jul 2015 16:20:48
World class mate Benteke is very different from carroll please understand why by using your marbles. He has scored those kind of goals because that is how his team were playing. Its not his fault to score many headers. He goot good first touch, his passing is good, got good pace and ability to stretch the defence.Only thing he might be short off is his off the ball movement because his team never intend to put the ball in free
space behind the defence. His movement can be coached and improved and after missing out Bacca he is the only viable option. As for Balotelli he is totally uninteredted in the game.

18.) 07 Jul 2015 17:25:49
Why do you all want more of the same type of striker? We currently have Sturridge, Ings, Origi, Lambert, Ballotelli, Borini and Sinclair, we have different types of strikers capable of playing different types of formations and systems. Benteke will be feared by a lot of Central Defenders, he is a beast, like Drogba was for Chelsea, I hope we get him, he will not only be a threat in the air and in the box, his strength and hold up play will create space and chances for the attacking mids to get in on the scoring. Great Signing.

19.) 07 Jul 2015 18:28:49
Benteke has destroyed our defence on numerous occasions. He's a top player. And he's still relatively young. We could get 10 years out of him.

20.) 07 Jul 2015 18:43:06
I think people need to have a look at some of bentekes goals, he scores a lot more than just headers

21.) 07 Jul 2015 19:08:16
Benteke is strong, holds the ball up well, takes two maybe 3 defenders out of position to deal with him which opens up spaces elsewhere. Not saying he is my first choice but maybe most realistic. Also don't forget O'Driscoll likes the passing game with players thinking for themselves and if the best option is to lump it forward the New do so. Will keep the opposition thinking for once don't you think?

22.) 07 Jul 2015 22:53:36
All other footy sites are a joke ? Seriously user "world class" that's a really bold claim; You know only what you know.
All this agreeing to disgree over something we have no control , I really think it's his attitude that matters. IF he desires to succeed , there really nothing that will stop him.
Hi eds, hope you're hanging in

23.) 08 Jul 2015 03:59:53
Crosses are a crap shoot at best. Hardly work and just hands the ball over. Complete waste. 1970s tactics for sure

24.) 08 Jul 2015 12:06:35
Prem Stats are that takes 3-4 times as many final third passes to score as compared to crosses. Arguably part of reason we don't score from many crosses is we don't have any dominant player centrally & Sterling tends to cross about 4 feet above, in front or behind the forward after skinning the wide man.

Benteke has raped us on how many occasions? Need different types of striker just Balotelli n Lambert didn't cut it - Benteke, Sturridge, Ings, Origi. different ways to skin a cat?

25.) 08 Jul 2015 16:24:05

Worth a watch for all the Anti-Benteke fans. He clearly shows he's more than just a target man. He can adapt to whatever way Rodgers wants him to play. Be in hold up play to open up space for the on coming attacking midfielders, the balls in the back of the defenders for him to chase onto, the plan B where we whip crosses in for me.

To be honest, I was apprehensive but having thought about it - it could be very handy. He's no Carroll or Ballotelli - they are both horses. This lad, is a real Beast who can bully defenders . I have faith in Brendan, SeanO'D & Pep' - they can get him to work with the team & get the best out of him. let's see if Tilly's right first though before we get excited

26.) 08 Jul 2015 22:28:36
IF Benteke gets a run of games he will score goals and he is a menace for opposition defenders but will he play consistently if sturridge is fit? Probably best striker available given no UCL next season or for the foreseeable future

The Solanke deal being looked into by the looks of things now!

Are LFC really that senseless to burden every deal they try to do?

Tilly2479

He was a free agent and able to talk to other parties wasn't he?

2.) 11 Jun 2017 09:36:38
Calm down. The media are just preying on the situation. They only care about hits on their page or papers sold. The truth is a rare bonus.

3.) 11 Jun 2017 09:58:16
It comes from the Sun I wouldn't worry.

Can I just refer to the post I sent 3 days ago (below) . say no more!

I know this wasn't to do with greed from the player front, but never ever allow yourself to be drawn in to a done deal until they have signed.

I have been supporting LFC nearly 40 years and in my experience, we shouldn't celebrate or welcome in any new faces until they are signed and sealed.

We also need to calm down and allow the Eds to get all the relevant information to pass on first before we all start making our own assumptions as to what LFC are doing and planning on doing.

I have my own wish list in terms of players coming in and indeed those going the other way, but I am also a realist in this crazy market place as to what actually can and will happen. Money talks now, loyalty and the want to play unfortunately, usually comes second or even third etc.

It's nice to hear about these so called "done deals" however, if they go through and the likes of VVD and Salah sign the relevant paperwork, then for me the only way we could possibly be looking at a good transfer window is to also hold on to the current group of players too.

Keeping Phillipe C, Sadio M, Adam L, Emre C, Roberto F, Dejan L, James M, Nathaniel C, Daniel S, Simon M, Joel M, Jordan H, Divock O. etc and also keeping them fit has to be a priority! With the additional games we will be involved in and the added success we need to be competing for now, the squad has to consist of quality but also the LFC mentality Jurgen Klopp has tried sow in the minds of our current first team. The guys will need to re-in force to the new guys that hard work, passion and the will to win is the Lfc way or they needn't bother signing anything!

Tilly you could have just said "Keeping Couthino etc" we all know who they are :D.

Is Mcheean rated Eds?

Remember watching him the FA youth a few years back and looked quite good.

Much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - at the level he plays at he is, he is not seen as being a Prem player for the future. I would expect him to step up at least one division in time though.}

The best way is to approach the official LFC ticket office online. It's a difficult exercise for the Prem league but early cup games and CL games may be the best option to start. Failing that online ticket companies, but be aware you will pay hugely inflated prices.

We just need to change the clubs name to AARON LIVERPOOL or AARDVARK LIVERPOOL. I'm sure that's a viable option!

Can i promote my pennies worth? I have a feeling Emre Can will go, which will lead to Wiji having the freedom to peruse that slot in the middle. I know he is a slightly different model to Can, but I do think he has more of an alround game.

I would like both Wiji and Emre to be part of the "squad" being as we have the Champions league to contend with, but I'm a little concerned at why the contract extension has not already been signed. This makes me think he will indeed move on.

If we sign a left back then I suppose Milley can do the job for 2017/ 18.
