Ed002 apart from Bobby Ox and Naby that are leaving on free transfers Ed is the club looking to move any other players on.
Matip or Gomez I think a loan move for Gomez would be best Ed to see if he can regain his form in maybe a different league think the Italian league would be a great move for him Ed would help him improve his defending and if we are lucky we could get a player back a year later who is a lot better.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Marcelo Pitaluga (G) and Caoimhin Kelleher (G) will want first team football. Expect to see Kostas Tsimikas (LB) eased out to gather funds.
Nat Phillips (CB), Joel Matip (CB) and Rhys Williams (CB) could all leave. Fabinho (DM/RB) may make way in the summer if a DM player arrives - and Liverpool have been looking. Nobby Keita (CM) and Alex Oxlade Chamberlin (RW/AM) are out of contract and will go. .James Milner (CM) could get another year - but I suspect it would be largely as cover. Diogo Jota (LW) With the addition of Gakpo and Diaz performing well, Jota may be sacrificed to bring in much needed funds. Mo Salah (RW) has his agent is hawking him around for one last big payday but he will likely stay after signing a new contract. Roberto Firmino (AM/F) will go.}

Salah’s agent must be like an annoying fly you can’t get rid off to some of these clubs, begging for them to buy him. Would add some well needed funds wouldn’t mind both him and Jota leaving makes sense. I feel we will become a much tighter knit squad without Salah’s swollen head about. Great though he has been he is clearly on the decline. I think it will be the busiest summer of ins and outs ever.

20 goals and 7 assists so far this season Str8talker in an underperforming team. And has been playing as part of a different system for half the season. You must watch a different team to me. He also got a goal and assist in the Charity Shield but let's not count that. I wish the rest of our forwards were in such a "decline". And not to mention breaking the record as our leading all time Prem scorer.

Str8talker - I think it’s par for the course with agents of these ‘big’ players.

Say what we like about Salah, he has been our highest scoring player (again) and without him this year we wouldn’t even have a sniff of a top 4 chance left.

Yeh, Mo Salah would have to beg clubs to have him in their sides.

I'm sorry but where has Salah actually shown that he has a big head? Works hard in training, makes himself largely available each game, puts in effort during games, and is still currently our top scorer. I get that you may want him gone to raise funds but I don't recall any occasion where he showed he was overly arrogant.

True, his agent may have been hawking him around Europe for the past few seasons but I see that as just the agent doing his job, to get the best deal for his client. That has never caused Salah to throw his toys out the pram and force a move a la Suarez and Mane, who I should add are still somehow loved by most Liverpool fans. Boggles my mind.

Would like to see Kelleher leave and get his chance as he deserves it, same with Phillips. Gvardiol or Ndicka could both cover at LB when needed if we sold Tsimikas. Preferably Gvardiol but more realistically Ndicka. They could aslo take the burden off Virgil.
Keita and Ox leaving should free up some high wages. Wouldn’t be against Fabinho, Jota and Matip/ Gomez leaving to try bring in some funds. Hopefully with some good signings and some players returning from their loans we can have a more trimmed down dependable squad next year. Back challenging for titles!

That's 9 potential departures (I'm leaving Pitaluga and Milner in, because I think they will stay) . That's a hell of a lot of players moving on, if all 9 happen, and more importantly, a hell of an overhaul.

While a lot of people will get the massive overhaul they have wanted, Klopp has a huge summer on his hands in terms of putting together a new squad using both new purchases and internal promotions from the U23's and U18's. Because we'll struggle to buy the 2-3 players everyone seems to want (Bellingham, Mount and Gvardiol), so buying 9 players is even more far fetched.

If Adrian moves on after the end of his contract in the summer, then that number of potentials goes up to 10.

I remember Klopp's first summer window with us. He moved on 16 players. So, basically nothing new for him. I just hope he gets it right, one more time.

Ed002, if Jota is sold, could we expect liverpool to bring in another forward or will someone from the academy replace his absence? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The problem is the club have several players who play in the same position already. Cover should come from fringe players in the squad and academy players - I can see a replacement for Firmino arriving.

Is Gomez being kept as he's english and willing to hang about without playing?

{Ed002's Note - Being English is of no consequence. Newcastle have spoken with his agent but as I understand it, not the club.}

10.) 30 Mar 2023
30 Mar 2023 18:18:33
Thank you ed002 hope the club do price players out of moves again it has cost us massively in the past by keeping players that don’t play a lot wasting wages then like ox and Naby losing any fee at all.

Good post that Dracred. Only thing I disagree with mate is did Mane force a move? I thought he told the club he wished to move on after his service to the club and he was sold.

Suarez forced a moved and so did coutinho. But mane seemed to leave on happy terms.

Aray, it might be a lot of players but how many of them impact the first 11. 1, maybe 2. We also need much better players in reserve pushing the first 11 more.

Howe loves an LFC cast-off. Hopefully he can pay ridiculous money for Jogo and Diogo.

Warmachine73, read your post again. In the first sentence you imply that those 9 are not that important, only the starting 11 matter. And then in the second sentence you imply the remaining 14 in the squad are just as important because they have to push the starting 11 (implying they have to be good too) . Contradictory, no? ?.

15.) 30 Mar 2023
30 Mar 2023 21:50:56
No, point being made was it won’t be a hell of a massive overhaul as only 1-2 are 1st teamers and buying 9 players isn’t far fetched as you think. And yes it’s def. needed.

16.) 30 Mar 2023
30 Mar 2023 22:26:48
@JK, my perception of things could admittedly have been skewed. I do recall him going out in the media and making a few statements like "a lot of Senegal fans want me to move and I'd do what they want" plus his "all will be revealed" statements just before our CL final with RM last season.

You're right though, maybe Coutinho would have been a better example than Mane since he clearly refused to play until his move.

But I hope my original point about Salah still stands! Salah has never pulled any of those stunts and always seems to go about doing things professionally and through the correct channels. I don't see him as being arrogant.

30 Mar 2023 22:28:59
Pretty much agree with Ed’s summary of the outgoings. Only surprised that we might still be looking for a Bobby replacement after signing Gakpo and the Carvalho project.

When talking about numbers, I just recalled the crazy times when we signed 9 players in summer 2014 - Lambert Balotelli Markovic Lovren Lallana Can Moreno Manquillo Origi and then a year later signed another 8 players - Benteke Ings Clyne Bogdan Firmino Gomez Awoniyi Milner. Crazy when you think about it.

I don't know about you guys, but I really like Tsimikas. I think apart from the first season, most of the time he's played, he never really made me miss Robbo that much. What I meant was, I think he's a really good backup for Robbo and it would be a shame to let him go. I've always wondered why we can't play him as a right back when Trent is off form. Or maybe he could take the left flank and Robbo can play on the right. Of course, its not their ideal position but I think they'd still do a better job than putting Gomez or Milner on the right side.

I believe Fab deserves another chance. He's had a horrible season with us so far, but I think with all the possible departures, it would be wise to keep him. Having too many new faces in midfield may not be the best solution. Often times, players need the chemistry and that doesn't come automatically. It takes time to learn to play with one another seamlessly. Making major changes to the squad might backfire if things don't go as planned.

He is nowhere near Liverpool’s greatest ever player and does of course have a swollen head. He spat his dummy out when the more favoured by fans Mane was getting all the attention. He has never learnt to pass a football to a team mate because it is all about him and has been instructing his agent to find a big boy move for years. I respect and appreciate all he has done but I would definitely press collect if someone offered good money especially with him on the decline. And once again please he is nowhere near Liverpool’s greatest ever player but may be in the top 20.

31 Mar 2023 12:07:45
Ideally, our LB cover would also be cover for CB, which is a reason i could see Kostas being replaced, along with a potential desire for him to play more.

Mo deserves one last big move, to perhaps a less demanding league, and i really wouldn't blame him for wanting that. He's got to be worth 100m on stats and durability alone.

Lads, lots leaving there maybe, but in fairness how many minutes do they play?

- Pitaluga: never plays first team, cover from youth
- Adrian: again, 3rd choice - could a youth option cover or would you want to sign another, more experienced keeper? I'd be happy with youth personally
- Kelleher: big decision, great prospect. I'd want to keep but do we loan him out? Play more, maybe in both domestic cups?
- Phillips: never plays
- Williams: never plays
- Ox: hardly ever plays, minutes could be covered by Morton or Clarkson
- Keita: like Ox
- Firmino: tbh doesn't play a lot anymore does he?
- Tsimikas: would need cover
- Matip: would need cover
- Gomez: would need cover
- Jota: would need cover
- Fabinho: would need cover

Out of 13 outgoings, given the minutes they play, 8 could be covered by youth - I'd try and keep Kelleher though

The 5 left, I'd keep Tsimikas but if he was sold along with Matip, could Ndicka cover both those minutes?

I get Matip plays, Tsimikas not a lot, but one poster suggested signing both Ndicka (who is on a free) and Gvardiol - if we got both, that would be 4 quality centre backs, the 2 new ones who could also cover left back

Fabinho, we have been looking at replacements so if he goes then we'd have somebody already to replace him

Jota is a curious one, with losing Bobby I'd think we might be a bit light if we sold him so would need a replacement but who and for how much? If we used the likes of Doak, Carvalho, Elliott or even Jones as cover, would that not leave us light in terms of senior forwards?

Awk lads, yes a lot of potential outgoings, but in terms of minutes they play, there's only really 5 or 6 that need replacing with purchases.

When Mane, Firmino and Salah were in their pomp they were rarely rested/ injured. However when that need did arise we only had the likes of Origi, Minamino or Shaquiri to step in. That’s wasn’t adequate cover.
We now seem to have genuine competition for places in the front 3, with strength off the bench and if someone is injured it isn’t the end of the world.
Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo, Jota and Salah are 5 really good options to cover 3 attacking spots.
I wouldn’t want to be selling any of them if we really want to compete in all comps next season,

25.) 31 Mar 2023
31 Mar 2023 15:37:47
Is there any mutual interest between LFC and Marcus Thuram as a potential Firmino replacement?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have no interest in Thuram to replace Firmino.}

Genuinely curious Str8talker, when has Mo Salah spat his dummy out? I honeslty can't recall an instance of it so I would appreciate it if you could enlighten me. He didn't fake an injury, go to the press to whine about things, or bite another player to force a move. From the way I see it, he has acted professionally in all his time here and his performance on the pitch shows that. True, his form may have dipped but he's still putting in decent numbers despite that.

You point to him never passing but season after season, he has over 10 assists in each. Not bad for someone who doesn't pass, is it? True, he can be selfish at times but almost all great goalscorers have that selfishness in them so I don't hold in against him. I think the whole don't pass thing is just something the media came up with to sell stories and each time he doesn't do that, it gets blown out of proportion.

Furthermore, we were all collectively celebrating his new contract last season. Don't just change the narrative just because he and the team have been struggling this season.

I do agree though that he isn't our greatest player ever since we have truly been blessed with the some of the bests in the game. But you have to admit that in the PL era, he is definitely up there with the best. His numbers are truly insane for a right-winger, although admittedly, he does drift to play centrally most games.
