So spaceman, just because a player wants to leave the club that means he was always going to have a mercenary attitude? I don’t know how you can come to that conclusion? Or how you can know he in fact does have a mercenary attitude. I think he has underperformed and had a lot of injuries and maybe it is time to move on. But just remember, he has no ties to the city, English is not his first language. He went from a club where things were going great for him to a club where he is having to train harder and play in tougher matches. He hasn’t made the jump up. That doesn’t mean he is a mercenary? Unless I’m missing something.

Unfortunately people like you, make me visit this page less and less. You are sounding like all the ball bag fans you all claim to despise. I would maybe guess there are other reasons why you don’t like Keita, but would not say it on this page.

People have to start realising, this is just a job for people, and if they get offered a new chance somewhere on better wages and better weather, why would they stay here? Especially if so called fans are slaying him at any given opportunity. I have no special interest in Keita or any other player, I’m just sick of seeing fans get on their own teams backs all the time.

If he doesn't want to sign a new contract then I would sell him. I don't like players with any type of value leaving on a free at the end of their contract. For me it isn't personal, merely business. Take what we can get, maybe it might accelerate that new midfielder everyone is hanging out for.

The majority of fans want him to leave and now he wants to leave fans are still unhappy ?

I honestly believe you could give some people a bag full of money and they would moan the bag was too heavy ?.

Keita hasn't worked out unfortunately for whatever reason. if we can get an offer take it.

I think maybe if Keita had had an impact somewhere near to Mo then he'd get a lot more grace. Mo has been angling to leave for years according to ed2, but he's bagged goals etc so that does make a difference to fan perception.

{Ed002's Note - They play in different positions. Aside from Sarah having a questionable friend he has been trouble free whilst his agent has been wandering around other clubs. Keit was trouble before he was purchased and then serious trouble in the year before he joined the club. He is a different type of player who perhaps needs to be more humble about what will no doubt be a good offer from the club.}

That's why I always give our moneybags stuffed with notes, JK ;-)

had he given the team more in the period he has been here instead of the next to nothing he has done, mybe he would have abigger and better bargaining chip. as it is, it has not worked out for either club or player, and personally i think he is one that will not give everything in his last year and will try and save himself for his next club. with that in mind i would rather sell now than hang on to him. would much rather us have a player from the young lads that wants to be here, playing with naivity maybe, but with passion and will to win than someone waiting on and cruising through for their next pay check. sell him now and drawa line under the whole sorry affair.

Keita prob wants salah kind of money for doing nothing the last 5 years…. Sell him and be gone.

Wouldn't it be easier all round if we want to get rid and he wants to go? I completely agree with Naby Lad; I've not been happy with his playing time either. I still have flashbacks of his volley in the CL final.
See you later, Naby Keita.

I'm pretty sure if Keita had bagged 8-12 goals a season on arrival with a handful of assists, then the perception would be slightly different. it's just how it goes.

The volley in the CL final was the final nail in the coffin for me lazy, brainless attempt. Ship him him on now. Ed002 warned us about him years ago. Completely different attitude to Mane who gave 100% in his final year until the last (although I wish he shut his mouth before the CL final), Keita will do nothing.

I certainly don't blame him for the CL final defeat. In fact, we may have been better off starting him over a half fit Thiago. Thiago and Fabinho were incredibly rusty in that game.

Faith, he wouldn't necessarily need 10 goals a season. Consistent effort would remove a lot of the criticism.

SR - just making the point about fan perception. Bit like Mo had hardly done anything for most of this calendar year but goals matter in fan perception.

You sure 3 years of being the best forward in the league hasn't impacted fan perception?

Why would the club even offer him a new contract. That's what's wrong with liverpool. Sell him quick and get a decent midfielder in that we need.

Faithinworks, given that the main objective of a forward is to score goals then I’d say Salah had met his objectives fairly well. I can’t say that Keita has done the same in his position. Salah has actually contributed regularly and significantly. Keita has not.

Monty, could you please elude to the other reasons please? Especially when we have such a diverse team that the fans get behind and support. I honestly can’t see the problem for wanting a player out who doesn’t try?

lol, yes and hence my point about goals influencing fan perception. Like some on here say Eliiot has "no end product" but his overall game in the first two rounds has been excellent. Mo has done jacksh*t in the first two games except pop up for a goal and bag an assist that in the end was a lucky deflection. But you have to be good to be lucky! So anyways, my point is that buys credit, which is clear in the speed of the defense of Mo.
