Ok two draws against United and Arsenal, we didn’t play well against United and they did a decent (park the bus) job on us.
More disappointed we didn’t beat Arsenal as I felt we played well and dominated them in the second half (TAA miss was a shocker)
That being said, we are two points clear at the top, going into the final round of games in 2023 and I am really pleased with our position, especially when I think we still have way more to give.
If we were to sign a player for this window, it would be a LCB, also able to play LB.
That would also allow JG to cover RB and give TAA the option of moving to the CM role were he is most effective!

I think a lcb is more needed in my eyes to allow both to have a well earned rest now and then. As we don’t want to run him in to the ground.

We also have the benefit of Arsenal and City competing in the Champions League

Liverpool could easily rest in Europa and have a chance of qualifying through each knockout. They will have to go full throttle once February hits as we know.

City went full throttle in 3 comps last season and won them all.

I don’t think CL affects the league that much. Over the last 30 years apart from Leicester and Blackburn every team that has won the league were playing CL that season.

Sorry just to add the title is currently in our hands.

City and Arsenal are very good teams but they will drop points from now until the end of the season. As long as we don’t drop more points then the title is ours.

City are the ones to beat, Arsenal are far too inconsistent and beatable. If city get a run going they’ll be hard to stop. We need to be as close to perfect as possible. We’ll comfortably get top four, have always felt that was our after the summer. Winning it might be a bit of a stretch, but it’s possible and we’re very well placed. Plus we have got the most difficult game out the way (City away) . City at Anfield is a proper six pointer. Beat them at Anfield and then we can really kick on.

City are the danger.

I'm hugely worried about losing both endo and salah. Who are both starters. I don't see us being able to rely on our other forward players when we lose salah. no one is in scoring form, and even with salah looking off the boil his assists are essential.

City won the lot because Arsenal didn’t push them to the last day. It comes as no surprise to me that their best season was when we dropped off.

Arsenal and villa away
City at home
Are the hardest games left
But apart from that yes their are tough games but we should be confident of beating anyone if we turn up close to 100%

Everton away I always hate just cos they will just kick us all round the pitch.

Viktor, my sentiments exactly. I seen many Arsenal fans discounting City a couple of weeks ago. Klopp said it best, "Anyone counting City out of the league is a joke" or something like that.

For us, I've been saying it: let's see where we are at in March. If we are where we are now then, strap it on cos we are definitely going for it.

Testiment to endo playing well that people have completely forgotten about dm recruitment. Am so happy for I'm as I wanted him to succeed.

Jota being back and hopefully ?Nunez getting that goal might soften the blow of losing Salah . Hopefully McAllistair is back soon too.

Weird that there-four weeks ago Endo was “not good enough”, “too slow for the Premiership” but now he is a “starter who will be missed while the Asian Cup is on”.

We coped fine before Endo hit form and we will cope without him. Salah has been solid but not setting the world alight, we should cope OK without him too.

@StEtienne, Klopp got a plan. We got Klopp? We're good.

And great to see Macc in training today as well, @JK23.

It’s draws that have cost us in previous seasons, and we’re on 6 already.

And we sit top of the league as we speak. Arsenal and City would swap places with us and take our 6 draws .

18.) 29 Dec 2023
29 Dec 2023 20:52:38
Six draws but only lost once and that was down to one of the worst refereeing performances in the history of the game. Last season at the same point we were out of contention for pretty much everything. Although we can’t rest on our laurels and we’re not perfect by any stretch, but things are going well and there’s lots to be positive about.

@Dhfc, not sure how you can say what the three hardest games are going to be. The fact you’ve listed the other three teams in the top four (at the moment) doesn’t mean they will be the hardest games. Imho it is better to adopt the approach that the next game is the hardest and put all our effort into that.

20.) 29 Dec 2023

Drogie, that may be true BUT you have to use context here. Was a point at the Etihad a bad result esp. at the time? Was the Chelsea draw a bad result with the way we went into that game being undercooked and with the sharks circling around us after the Caicedo/ DM fiasco? The Arsenal draw we were unlucky and robbed at the same time. So that's 3 draws I have no prob. with. The other 4 3 draws at Brighton, at Luton and v Utd, I can accept those are poor results.

On the other hand, we have won about 15 points or so from losing positions. To me, that is why we are where we are today and had VAR done it's job at Spurs and Arsenal (and prolly at Chelsea with the Jackson blatant handball), we are further ahead right now.

On balance, our position and how we got there is clearly a net positive at this point, IMO. So let's keep working hard, get better every day and take it one game at a time.

30 Dec 2023 01:57:21
I agree with that Oli. Can you really count draws at City away, Chelsea away (on opening day) and Arsenal at home poor results?

The Utd draw can happen as Utd is basically a derby so as we all know sometimes the occasion means you get some dodgy results.

You can point to Brighton and Luton as poor results but to put that into context City lost at Wolves and Villa and drew at home to Spurs and away at Chelsea. Arsenal lost at home to West Ham at lost away at Newcastle and drew at Home to Spurs and also away at Chelsea.

So our 2 really poor results are just 2 away draws (the Spurs game doesn’t count and will never count) which isn’t to bad when you compare that with our direct rivals.

22.) 30 Dec 2023
30 Dec 2023 08:57:41
Problem is Beckers the Spurs game does count and it still will at the end of the season when all business is done mate.

23.) 30 Dec 2023
30 Dec 2023 09:56:57
The two notable season’s in recent years where we lost the league with too many draws, both city and United lost more games.

24.) 30 Dec 2023
30 Dec 2023 13:19:11
Drogie, that is true but you are agin ignoring the context. City have drawn and lost a lot more games this season than they did in both those seasons so saying what you are saying without applying context, is like speaking in a vacuum. You cannot do that and then, dismiss the context surrounding it. That's my point.

Look will we win the title? I have no idea and I don't do predictions either however, we are in a more than good spot right now so let's keep it going and see what happens cos we got to get thru Jan w/ o Endo and Salah first and move from there, IMO.

25.) 30 Dec 2023
30 Dec 2023 21:04:03
Yes JK it will but we can’t count that if we are talking about points we’ve dropped and trying to argue that there’s a problem. That game was a farce and I still maintain it should be replayed.

It might have done us a favour in the long run because if it weren’t for the corruption in that game we’d still be unbeaten with the media ramping up the pressure talking about an invincible season.

30 Dec 2023 21:36:01
Beckers yeah my bad. When I read your comment back I misinterpreted it the first time.

I thought you were saying the result doesn’t count. And then when reading back i got what you meant.
