Club looking to pay out the rest of his contract too his family. lovely touch from the club! This is one of the reasons I adore this club. because it’s bigger than a football club, it’s always felt more like a family. That love goes across too the neighbours also because Everton might be out “bitter” rivals but they are a classy club and they know that this city is means more than just football ?.

This is fairly standard and is covered by insurance policies.

No $ is ever going to compensate for a lifetime without a husband, a father and a son.

How incredibly unlucky that the lung issue (pnuemothorax) that Diogo had was the reason he was driving and not flying. Then for a tyre to blow out, at speed, in a car that can go 200 MPH and has had various safety issues reported over time.

Life is a F wierd trip sometimes.

Bless Rute and the kids.

Well said we always have been a club of class acts.

I wonder if Jim ratcliffe would ask people to bring a packed lunch to the funeral?

That legend of a lady that worked at Man U for years! He had someone phone and ask for the season tickets back after she passed away. Classy that was Jim!

Vango, intentionally or otherwise you are getting dangerously close to speculation and presumptions.

I hope no-one actually does try to go down that road and Eds will be alive to it.

So sad, RIP Diogo J.

Diogo Jota had been courageously battling a lesser-known condition known as pneumothorax, or collapsed lung, in the weeks leading up to his tragic passing.

That's according to his physiotherapist, Miguel Goncalves. The physio revealed that Jota, 28, was so determined to help Liverpool secure its second Premier League title that he postponed his surgery for pneumothorax.

He also had a strong desire to play in Portugal's Nations League final against Spain in June, a game his country triumphed in. Jota persevered through the health issue and met with Goncalves just five hours prior to the fatal accident in Zamora, Spain.

Excellent from lfc to do that and 100% the right thing to do. i would expect nothing less from this wonderful club than carry it itself correctly.
If u remember another player who died recently in tragic plane accident, the 2 clubs involved in his transfer got involved in an unsightly and to be honest disgusting argument (possibly went to legal case, not sure) over money.
Not all clubs would do the right thing.

My thoughts exactly digs ?.

The club is insured with the loss of player through death. Jota may have had life insurance which is separate. No i don't think it is covered to pay the family of the deceased the rest of his contract. Very decent thing to do by the club.
Reguardless it's such a deep blow to a lot of people. The club moving forward but my heart extends to his wife kids and parents.

Since ed002 passed away a lot of people talk with too much chest as they’re not called out as much on their rubbish. The sheer number of ITK we have now is a response to that. I miss Ed’s brutal cut downs.

Ed is playing dominos with jota now teaching him how to rodeo.

I agree Sailor Jerry, it’s like a power vaccum and a few are trying to be the new Ed02.

And some people just read threads which present intersting information that add context to the narrative and post them here. The information about Diogo's lung condition is not speculation. People can not fly with the condition that he had (this is my field of work, which is why it interests me) .
