Just let the players do what they do best, aggressive attack, ever since we went to this side to side. Slow predictable build up our players have suffered. What are we saving the players for when the only important match is the one we play next. I would understand if we were lacking talent for our performances to have dipped so much, but this purely down to tactics. Let the horses free, they will deliver a result.

I think we beat Chelsea tonight or at least draw with a very good performance. Big games are different and for me our best game was against Arsenal this season.

Why are players like Mac Allister, Salah and Gakpo starting when they are clearly not in form yet? Why make a weakend midfield (by Mac Allister) weaker by taking Szoboszlai out of it and sticking him in the back? Why buy Frimpong? Why not sell Chiesa this past summer if you're not going to use him? So many questions.
Time to use Isak and Ekite together upfront. That midfield is like a sieve and it's time to try out a 4-4-2.

I thought we looked better in the 2nd half when Wirtz came on. I still don't think we are good defensively. No excuse to give away that last goal and no excuse for Canceido to be that open for the first. Still, I think we will be fine. It will take some time but I'm not worried.

Sorting the forwards might win us a game or 2, but the midfield and defence are what's losing us games

Stone - you don’t “think” we’re good defensively?
We are, objectively, utterly and unacceptably poor at defending. There are a myriad of reasons for this, but the two biggest ones are that the players are being poorly coached (yep, Slot has been dreadful so far this season), and they simply don’t care about defending enough (including Virgil, who has been the best of an awful bunch so far) . Picking up regular 2-0 wins is beyond this team because they are simply not focused or hungry enough, and Slot needs to get it sorted because he’s been terrible so far this season.

Sorry but Wirtz had his best moment after 30 seconds, unless you count misplaced passes, the ball bouncing of his leg in a good position and shirking out of a challenge.
We had a 15/ 20 minute spell when we were marginally better but far from great.
Jones played quite well when he came on.

I think the move after the international break will be to tell Salah and Gakpo to help the defense out a wee bit. I think they are told to stay up, but the link up play isn't happening and the press looks like the UTD press under Ollie! I think for the time being we should stop the slow and laboured build up. It sucks the joy out of football and especially when you are losing, you feel such disjointed with such a style.

I know, Irish. I'm more concerned about some of the coaching decisions I'm seeing. I don't understand how you take your most creative forces in midfield (Gravenberch and Szoboslai) and move them back to CB and RB. And replace them with Wirtz (who's still trying to find himself, but what a pirouette with the ball that was) and Jones (who is a squad player not of Mac Allister's and Szoboszlai's level) .
I'd normally be the first to roll up my sleeves and tell you to step outside to the street, if you said "time to sit Salah on the bench". But he is way off from where he should be and I actually think he needs it now. Chiesa and Rio simply have to be trusted more and get involved more. I don't buy the "age thing" excuse for Rio or the "fitness thing" for Chiesa. We're at the highest level of professional football in this country and excuses are for amateurs.
The high pressure is certainly showing on Slot's face now; I don't think he sat down for a moment during the game, and it looked red and stressed the entire time. Let's see how he handles it and what solutions he comes up with.
