Slot is giving Benitez/ Ange vibes in his ramblings, the only excuse he hasn't used is his dog ate the tactics sheet. I don't think he believes he has what it takes to pull himself out of this, there is a panic and inevitably about what he is saying. Rather than an actual confidence behind it.
He's like a duck with a broken leg, desperately scrambling beneath the surface to stay afloat, but ultimately fully aware he's going to sink.
He doesn't have the ability to even incite any kind of emotional response from the players and more worryingly from the supporters. He lacks that aura, that galvanising factor that Klopp had where supporters truly believed they could really become the 12th man, because they believed Klopp would turn it around.
That's been completely lost by Slot, his decisions, his excuses and ramblings have largely lost the confidence of the supporters and the team. Without some monumental unbeaten run, he's gone. I feel FSG will be ruthless, largely due to the fact that Iraola only has a year left on his contract. I think it will be another Rodger's/ Klopp situation, right man at the right time.

I don't think he does make excuses. He seems to tell the truth as he sees it. Its true that teams are playing more long balls against us. Its true that teams are changing their line ups and systems when they play us. What I want to see, is him do something about it. If he knows what's happening I want him to stop it happening now.
I think he almost too honest. That might be ok when you're winning but when you're on a losing run I can't help thinking that telling the world about your players conceding throw ins after a minute is not helpful for them.
I wonder if he can motivate players like Jurgen could. I wonder if he would put an arm round them if they needed it?
So I suppose i agree a bit on the lack of inciting an emotional response. But I don't agree that he makes excuses.

I read it completely differently, he is as calm and confident as he has ever been, if you want to find fault with him, find fault with him being so assured about sticking to his guns with whatever it is that he is trying to do with emptying the midfield, having kerkez tuck in for the build up and play as a dummy decoy up the field, putting on bizarre substitutions when we are chasing the game etc.
He was calm and confident explaining why he made changes for the league cup, he looked calm and confident speaking to the press about how they make it out to seem like he's making excuses when he's just giving honest answers like he always is.
I really don't like folks like you spinning this to seem like he's desperately groping in the dark for any kind of excuse, it's simply not true and is like some sort of bizarro parallel universe emanating from the football troll sewer.
I know it seems like I'm on here defending Slot every day, when a lot of the time I feel like I just want us to be fair. He doesn't at all look like a dead man walking, he has been temperate throughout. Folks can dislike the answers he gives or the tone that he gives them in (though I can't for the life of me understand why everybody loved his deadpan approach when we were winning and thought he spoke his mind, and now he does the same when we are losing everybody thinks he doesn't show any sort of urgency and has lost the plot? ), but let's not make up scenarios in our head just to correspond to our own fevered desperation for our team to succeed.

Calling him Ange is absolutely, ridiculously disrespectful as well, I think you should think about what you're typing. Ange is historically one of the least successful coaches in the prem, he was adversarial and acrimonious towards the press a lot of the time defending himself, Slot has done absolutely no such thing, he has yet to snap at the press despite constant rage-baiting and trolling on the part of the gutter press and their headlines and social media content, and in the last presser he specifically addressed the insinuation that he is making excuses for our performances.

As a member of the press for thirty years, I think the fact that Slot has overseen the worst set of results for a Liverpool team for 72 years is the reason he is under scrutiny. We have become the latest side to suffer from toxicity. Papers like The Mirror are not fanning those flames. The **** can go fun itself.
