Long time reader but first time poster. Lifelong supporter and been going to Anfield since Shankly's days so I have seen plenty of good and some bad during the years.
There have been some poor players and teams in that time but the current squad is the most underperforming in terms of player quality. The players have to take some responsibility for performances and results but they appear to be hampered by the manager's tactics and methods and his unwillingness to make effective changes in an attempt to improve things.
We spent £450m on quality players in the summer with apparently little to no idea how to integrate them. These players have not become poor overnight and clearly we are not playing to their strengths.
The team lacks structure and direction and apparently motivation. The players do not seem fit or strong enough and they play at such a slow pace with little intensity making it easier for the opposition.
It is awful to watch.
Really thought that Klopp was the modern day Shankly and Slot the new Paisley and expected us to dominate for the next few years. Complete error of judgement in respect of Slot who appears to have no idea what needs to be done to address the slide.
Slot has to go now to give us a better chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season which really should be the minimum requirement with this squad of players. Otherwise the financial implications may cause additional problems.
Hoping the board will act quickly and swiftly and appoint a manager that will get the best out of these players, play some attractive football and turn us fans into believers again!

I am similar to you, KK, in terms of time watching and attending the games.
Like you, I saw an analogy with Shanks and Sir Bob but I guess that it's not to be. Incredibly disappointed at what has happened and can't really fathom why. Contrary to what some have posted, I don't think that Slot just struck lucky in winning the League. There have been many occasions when a manager has inherited a top team and failed to win anything, so Slot does deserve respect and credit for what was achieved last season. Anything else is just disrespectful, imho.
I don't think that it's healthy that his family has remained in the Netherlands and think it likely that this has played its part, although it's unlikely to be the only reason. In my opinion, there is no truer statement that "Behind every good man is an even better woman".
I think that Slot is gone but will always wish him well and welcome him back as a legend for what he achieved.
In terms of future mangers, all are risky, as was Slot and Klopp but the the same could have been and was said for Shanks, Sir Bob, KK and look at how things turned out :) .
There are some great names being banded around and I am sure that whoever comes in will do their best. Unlikely as it seems, I would love to see Carlo Ancelotti here. I think that he was the alternative to Klopp, all those years ago but may be wrong on that. An amazing manager and a great individual, by all accounts. Obviously, he won't be available until after the World Cup but definitely my first choice, even given his age.
In the interim? I am not keen on Gerrard but wonder whether Thiago Alacantra could be an option? Very mixed feelings, at the moment, as I hate to see the club changing managers, especially after such a relatively short time but unfortunately, like most on here, I just can't see things improving under Arne, so change is needed.
