Hi Eds
Have we shown any interest in Andre Silva of Frankfurt?
I just found out a very interesting link that he has with LFC?

langland

{Ed002's Note - No. Andre Silva (S) was recommended to several clubs, certainly including Everton, Wolves and Manchester United, by a very high-end independent scout who used to play in the Premier League. This dates back to last summer before his loan became a permanent move. Atletico Madrid have declared an interest.}

1.) 22 Feb 2021 20:25:13
Shame, he looks as good as his brother.
Diogo Jota.

2.) 23 Feb 2021 01:57:03
Pretty certain the Andre Silva of frankfurt is no Diego Jota's brother. His brother, also named Andre Silva, plays for Boavista and is 5 years younger than the one who plays for Frankfurt.

{Ed077's Note - you are correct👍

3.) 24 Feb 2021 18:15:33
Just want to say welcome to Ed077, I was a bit dubious when I saw that he was a Penalty United fan, but I am happy to give him a 3 months trial.

{Ed077's Note - VARhester United sounds more natural to me🤣

And thanks Langland. Let's hope I get a long term deal after the trials and don't get rejected for some weird reason like Mbappe at Chelsea}

Hey Eds
Heard anything about Minamino to Southampton on loan?

langland

{Ed002's Note - I know they were offered him and it would likely do him good.}

Express reporting that Tony Kroos wants to work with Klopp.

Maybe wants to start a specialist boating and horse riding company - Kroos and Klopp.

langland

1.) 21 Jan 2018 18:11:31
The express have reported some daft stories this window.

2.) 21 Jan 2018 18:42:47
Express just prints garbage on the front, back and middle pages. If it’s not immigrants, it’s princess Diana or statins.

3.) 21 Jan 2018 18:44:11
The Express, says it all, don't believe a word .

4.) 21 Jan 2018 21:43:02
They took the quotes out of context. It came from Don Ballon, but what the express forgot to mention is that Kroos was urging Klopp to join him at Real Madrid, not issuing a come get me plea 😂.

5.) 21 Jan 2018 23:12:05
The only use for the express is if you run out of toilet paper. Same goes for Don Balon.

6.) 22 Jan 2018 16:50:09
You are right MK haha
Im shocked they didn’t link us with Ronaldo too since he wants Klopp at Madrid also 😂.

7.) 22 Jan 2018 16:54:34
The Guardian is so much more satisfying, tho, Mr Dennis. And softer too.

I see that a job opportunity has opened up for Frank Lampard (supposed to be a better manager that Steven Gerrard by some experts on here) in Glasgow.

langland

{Ed077's Note - Frank's wife and her family are supposedly big Rangers supporters so Celtic may not be a job Lanyard would fancy.}

1.) 24 Feb 2021 17:19:47
If they offer him the job, I hope he decides quickly. Wouldn't be polite for Lanyard to leave them hanging.

2.) 25 Feb 2021 03:56:24
Lol love it Zed.

21 Feb 2021 13:45:39
The way forward.
Play as many defensive players as we have against RBL and play one attacker, either Salah or Jiota.
Do not try to win the game (like the majority of teams that we play do) .
With a bit of luck we will score a breakaway goal. Champions League is our main goal now.
Play as many fringe players as we can in the league to make sure that we have our top players fit and rested for the next round of Champs League. In the first leg of the 1/ 4 finals play a defensive game to ensure that we are still in the tie, the second leg is middle of April.
Who knows which injured players we will have back by then?

langland

1.) 21 Feb 2021 14:30:49
We will absolutely be out of the Champions League if we set up 541 or something like that against RBL. Play 433, just don't overcommit.

2.) 21 Feb 2021 15:32:09
The way RBL plays suits us, they open up for us even when they don’t need to, that’s the only opposition we seem to have success against at the moment. So while they are 2-0 down they will most certainly open up and attack, so if we play the same way we always do, we will have chances to score, it’s just whether or not the forwards know what a goal is and how to shoot which is in question (bar salah of course) . It’s other types of opposition that we have no hope against at the moment, if we face athletico for example in the next round, you can kiss CL goodbye.

3.) 21 Feb 2021 16:04:28
Kman we will not be playing any other CL teams other than RBL for at least a month.
A lot of players can get over injuries in that time if we concentrate on that game alone.

17 Feb 2021 11:18:14
Hi Guys
Great result last night coincided with Liverpool getting a bit of luck.
RBL header that came off the post and went behind Alisson would surely have gone in last week, and the two goals where defenders made big mistakes were also lucky.
But we haven't had any good luck for a few weeks now so we were due for some.
Has anybody actually seen a definitive picture of the ball being over the line when Mane pulled it back for Firminho to head it in.
The pic that I saw last night on BT sport did not convince me that the whole of the ball was over the whole of the line.
Well Done Reds let's keep it up.

langland

1.) 17 Feb 2021 11:42:11
OP, I fully agree with you. We deserved some luck cos IMO, our boys have never stopped working hard on the pitch so I agree there. As for the goal, I still do not know if the whole ball went out of play. It is funny how no other replays were shown of the incident. Did VAR check it? Not sure, either.

2.) 17 Feb 2021 13:45:27
It did check it. And we are kinda spoiled as in England VAR takes ages to make a decision. As for CL it is working how it is supposed to. VAR checks it, it does not spot a clear and obvious error and it calls its decision.

3.) 17 Feb 2021 13:55:43
Their defensive mistakes weren't luck, they were caused by our pressing on their high line. I mentioned on the live chat at half time that I think we will score from a defensive error, it was just a matter of time. Our pressing was very good last night as was the mentality of the whole team it seemed.

4.) 17 Feb 2021 16:14:44
So Stuie the fact that the defender slipped over with no Liverpool player within 5 yards of him for the opening goal was not lucky?
Give your head a wobble son.

{Ed0666's Note - yes but the truth doesn’t fit some people’s narrative

5.) 17 Feb 2021 16:24:38
Sometimes you have to create you’re own luck Langland mate. It’s not as though he slipped with nobody around him. He was being hounded by Mane and knew if he messed up it would likely end in a goal.

6.) 17 Feb 2021 16:49:29
Not sure what game you were watching, the player playing the bad back pass was being pressed and forced into making that pass, even if the defender didn't slip he would still have been under pressure from Salah who was straight on it. And please don't patronise me with your 'give your head a wobble' comment, it is just embarrassing and I am most certainly not your son, thank god.

7.) 17 Feb 2021 22:22:55
Stuie
A player slipping and leaving Salah through on goal is a huge stroke of luck and if you do not recognise that you do need to give your head a wobble.
Mane pressurising the guy who made the pass had no impact on the other defender slipping over.

8.) 18 Feb 2021 14:48:12
I rekon we should embrace any luck we get! we need it, all of it and more of it!

15 Feb 2021 22:02:27
When VVD got assaulted and it became clear that he was not going to be available for a long time, I think that nearly everybody thought that we would not be having a good season.
Miraculously we were top of the league on Christmas day, however there was only about 6 points between top and 10th.
We are still in that place (no VVD) and he gives us 20-25 points per season.
If we do finish top 4 we will have had a good season.
2021=2022 will be a better one.
YNWA.

langland

1.) 15 Feb 2021 23:09:43
Assaulted 😂.

{Ed047's Note - a similar Kung fu style lunge to Cantona’s into the crowd all those years ago. 🤷‍♂️

2.) 16 Feb 2021 00:19:42
20-25? Think 10 is more realistic, but how to quantify such a thing? I guess you look at the instant impact he made, the average of points gained when he plays etc. But, it's hard to determine the confidence he gives the rest of the team. I'm sure someone can provide solid statistics to illustrate the point, but statistics are useless, 73% of all people know that.

3.) 16 Feb 2021 07:02:31
Well Stand-United, how else would you describe a knee high challenge with absolutely no intent to play the ball? Just like Roy Keane did to Haaland all those years back.

4.) 16 Feb 2021 07:46:16
6times it was a bad challenge yes, but the way some on here are still going on about an “assault” on here is embarrassing, like none of your players have ever made reckless challenges before.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair Stand, the consequences of the challenge are still being felt, so it is difficult to just forget about it and move on. Especially when you consider the ill-feeling caused by the referee not even considering it a foul and the VAR ludicrously agreeing with him. It is one thing to make a reckless challenge, but you expect to see a red when one of your players do so and, when it is in the box, concede a penalty. Instead Liverpool were deprived of their best defender for the season and it could be argued that it cost them 2 points in that game as well.}

5.) 16 Feb 2021 09:31:22
Pickford did a similar challenge on Mandzukic in the WC semi final.
Plank. He should have been banned for that.
Highly dangerous and totally stupid.
If that was a tackle anywhere on the pitch it would be a red card.

6.) 16 Feb 2021 12:24:09
Stand-United, Ed01 is spot on. Players make reckless challenges and even they expect to be punished for it by the officials. Had any of our players done that, I would fully expect the book to be thrown at him based on the laws on the books. That is not the issue.

What pissed people off even more and Klopp said it at the time, was that we all saw what happened. The refs and VAR saw what happened and NOTHING was done about it. The culprit got off scott-free and got to play the next game w/ o being duly punished for his reckless act on the field. That is the problem and I'm pretty sure that if that had happened to one of your players, you would not "stand" (pun intended, lol) for that either.

7.) 16 Feb 2021 12:50:12
Stand United if it was one your best players and they had been put out for the season you’d be saying the same thing. Hypercritical, pathetic, typical Manx.

8.) 16 Feb 2021 12:13:15
Bang on Ed and what makes even more difficult to swallow is when you see some of the other penalties and red cards that have been given this season.
We’ve got players going over under minimal contact and some even falling over their own feet but because there’s ‘contact’ it’s given. Pickford nearly rips Virgil in half and nothing.
It seems to be the way of it since VAR was introduced. The only consistent thing about it is it’s inconsistency.

{Ed001's Note - it is run by morons who do not understand the game sadly. Nice to see Wenger has said the same as I have been, as he is the guy making the decisions now, and saying that VAR should not be manned by refs but by specifically trained VAR operators.}

9.) 16 Feb 2021 13:23:51
Well said ED001, and potentially it conceded the title too!

10.) 16 Feb 2021 14:32:15
Wenger is 100% correct, and you are to Eds. You don't have Pilots or Cabin Crew working in Air Traffic and vice versa. Whilst VAR is inherently less complex than transport systems (although by looking at how the refs are using it you might think twice), it's still a technical system. Referees aren't trained to use a technical system, they're trained to officiate football. I'm not saying it's beyond them to learn, but you should either be a ref or a specially trained operator.

11.) 16 Feb 2021 15:56:20
Everyone knows it was a bad challenge, everyone knows VAR is rubbish. But wallowing in self pity over it doesn’t nothing for anyone. Move on, get over it and deal with the situation would be a better idea IMO.

{Ed001's Note - no one is wallowing in self-pity, the suggestion is offensive quite frankly. It is quite the opposite. People are pointing out that there is no need to get too worried about the team's form as it will improve and that there are good reasons for the struggle. It is more about saying to just accept what is going on now as a consequence of the injuries and looking forward to next season.}

12.) 16 Feb 2021 16:13:36
Absolutely Ed. I know you’ve said from the start that the refs should not be running VAR and you’ve been proved correct.
Leicester’s first goal on Saturday was another example of the VAR not knowing how to use the system. The guy has gone of a shadow produced by Bobby’s foot rather than his foot and has gone off the attacker’s shoulder rather than his sleeve. On top of that his knee was further forward than his sleeve anyway but was ignored. When you look at that again it’s hard not to think he’s manufactured on onside decision from an offside situation.
The reality is probably just that he isn’t that clever.

{Ed001's Note - agreed.}

26 Dec 2020 16:25:19
i wonder if LFC will look at Geoffrey Shlupp if Gini doesn't renew?
Similar player also on a free at ebd of season.

langland

1.) 26 Dec 2020 16:41:01
Not remotely similar and not even close in terms of quality. Thiago and Curtis Jones take ginis minutes on the pitch for me. If one of Keita or ox leave then we’ll need a CM.

2.) 26 Dec 2020 16:51:19
Lay of the magic mushies please!

3.) 26 Dec 2020 17:24:09
Wow. Shocking comparison.

4.) 26 Dec 2020 18:57:17
Yeah hopefully we look to sign Jason Puncheon on a free aswell to replace Salah if he leaves in the summer.

5.) 26 Dec 2020 23:44:30
Lowest form of wit Bigvirg but that did make me laugh. Jason puncheon 😂😂.

6.) 27 Dec 2020 08:37:08
OP, why not look at James McCarthy while we are at it.

7.) 27 Dec 2020 09:15:13
No chance of us buying from Palace. We only buy from the worlds best teams like Newcastle, Southampton, Sunderland, Roma, Hoffenheim, Monaco, Shalke, Stoke, Charlton, West Ham, Leipzig, Lille, Wolves, Salzburg and that team in the relegation fight this year. Arsenal that’s the one.
Not saying we should look at Schlupp but more how LFC fans seem to turn their noses up these days because we’ve had some success. Just remember where the rest of our squad came from.

8.) 27 Dec 2020 10:27:28
The team they come from is an absolute irrelevance. We’ve been linked with Bissouma from Brighton, a much lower quality team, but I wouldn’t knock anyone for wanting him.

From your list I will accept the Dutch League title and the Copa Libertadore but the rest is all a pile of poo really.
Ignorant indeed.
And are you saying that you really do not think that Rangers have won the title this season?
Dutch top league winners have won the Champions League/ European Cup as have Scottish top league winners.
Don't remember any Austrian Teams, German second division, Spanish Division or English Championship teams winning the Champions League though.

langland

{Ed077's Note - managers can only win the leagues and trophies they compete in. Scottish league nowadays is not much better than Swiss league or Austrian league considering teams from Switzerland and Austria get into the Champions league more regularly than Rangers or Celtic. And just give some credit for even coming up with those names.}

I absolutely hate it when fans disrespect ex players, especially ex players that have won trophy's for us i. e 2001 FA cup.
I was as disappointed as anyone when Owen moved to Madrid, but I appreciated what he had done for the club, and that he had not run his contract down and gone for free.
He realised that he had made a mistake and asked to come back, but Liverpool would not match RMs valuation but Newcastle did. He had no option, but to move to Newcastle. When his contract ran out he asked to come back to Liverpool, but they did not want to sign him. He had 2 offers Hull City and Manchester United. He still wanted to win a league title so he went to Man Utd and won one.
Liverpool had the opportunity to take him back twice so maybe they are the Judas?

Are you suggesting that if we return to Melwood that we will win the Premier League again?
The reason that I say that it is not relevant is.
We were still at Melwood after the restart and we were not in the best of form then.
We are not going back.
Where we train can not possibly have any bearing on our results.
