I am genuinely not sure if Xabi Alonso is a better Coach than Arne Slot!
However had Xabi been available when LFC lost 9 out of 12 games in October and November I suspect there is a more than a fair chance LFC make that change!?
If FSG sack Slot in the Summer and appoint Alonso it would be because LFC have had a poor end to the season! Therefore I back Arne because he is LFC's head coach.

I'm with you. Totally backing Slot. Alonso would be my first pick but if he wasnt so handsome and a former player we wouldn't be this pumped.

@funky061, speak for yourself. Had Alonso not played for us and had done what he had done at Leverkusen with trophies and an undefeated German league season, pretty sure we would have been looking at him. After all, we are looking at Iraola who has won nothing, aren't we?
How do we know? A certain Arne Slot was looked at after being successful as a young manager at Alkmaar and esp. with Feyenoord the trophies to boot. Did he play or Iraola at LFC? Exactly.
I think your theory applies to Arteta who like you said, played for Arsenal BUT was just Pep's cone man with absolutely sweet nothing to show for it before he got the Arsenal job. Now here, you can most definitely argue that Arteta ONLY got the job cos he played for them. That does not apply to Alonso nor Slot, IMO.

Tough call man. 1 had a premier league titile to show while the other had a bundesliga. lol. Well, honestly, I like Slot. A lot of people seemed to be criticising his press conf, but I taught I see a lot of honesty, and perhaps just a bit of defensiveness Notwitstanding, it is not just the results need further improvement, Liverpool is boring. We need to play better. For a long long time, I fine it perfectly fine to miss Liverpool games, as I do not think I will miss much.
But who can blame Slot for prioritising results, right? Beside he did win us #20. Wouldn't pull the trigger now. If he managed to win FA cup and even the Champions league, what do we do? Unlikely as that seems, we must then keep him. Anything else, can't blame us for taking a gamble on Alonso. It is a gamble, no question about that. Should Slot not deliver anything if not, a cup or 2, a player he improved and broughr through (Grav is a notable success), he would also be a gamble then.
