Considering Cody has better numbers than Gordon, even when Gordon has played games as a number 9/as the focus of Newcastle's attack, I think the answer is fairly obvious. Gordon needs big, open spaces to attack, and is much more limited in small spaces.
Gakpo is somewhat the same in that he is not a neat, intricate, technical player per se, but he is better at running at players with the ball at his feet, and there is also the fact that he is decent in the air.

I'd take Gordon over Gakpo. More intensity and workrate to his game. Actually has a bit of fire in his belly. Links up very well with Isak as well, which is a bonus.

I would sell Gakpo, but would not waste the money on Gordon, though.
There are better players out there. Can't say anything about Diomande or Malick Fofana.
As I have not seen them play, I would rather gamble on them based on what people have said about them, over Gordon.
The only real positive I can give Gordon is he is a Liverpool fan, and it looks like we would get 100% every time. Not sure you can say that about all players nowadays.
