The season after Klopp won the title, it was followed up with a defence producing 70 points.

We could end up with 67 points which is almost the same as Klopp achieved after winning the title.

I read this recently, but the big difference is the level of our performances, which have been utter tripe for most of the season.

I don't know how we can go from where we were a year ago to a team that played relegation standard football for most of this season. It is beyond astonishing, and unbelievable that no one is taking responsibility for it.

Unfortunately, we can expect plenty more of the same with Mr Slot at the helm next season.

Obviously, the jump from Dutch football to the PL has proven to be far too big for him, but in his delusional mind, I'm sure he will celebrate finishing 4th/5th or wherever we do end up.

I bet if Anfield was empty for just 1 home game there would be action taken. Otherwise, how do we move forward without change?

What must Slot be feeling in his head? Does he actually think he has the backing of the majority of supporters? Or maybe he doesn't care because he seems to have the support of the people who employ him.

He's running the whole club into the ground.

Klopp was using Sunday league centre backs for most of the season thanks to genius Michael Edwards. Slot was given half a billion worth of talent.

The mentality is not one of winners, but that CL qualification is good enough. That comes from above, it's in the DNA now, including some fans.

Many players, unfortunately, are just passing through.

They don't get the importance of the shirt and are happy just to take part regardless of outcome or style of play. They don't seem to care even about win bonuses, they're paid so well it may not matter.

Was that the season we lost all our centre backs... tried putting in midfielders... Fabinho and Henderson as CBs... didn't really work... so... hold the phone... seen it didn't work... so changed it?

That was the Alisson header to secure CL, was it not?

@Mighty, that was the one and I seem to remember it very differently. Kbl, why are you comparing 20/21 to 25/26 all of a sudden? Or are you gonna ignore what befell this team and Klopp and Ali (esp. in his personal life losing their mom and dad resp.) during that horrific lockdown season? Sorry, not all bad seasons are created equally, so let's not act like they are.

See, this is what I will never accept and many are falling into this trap just cos Slot is a failure this season. I will never accept comparing this season to any of Klopp's seasons. Ain't having it, esp. when you look at the 400m plus spent in the summer to provide top talent (some of it) to this failing manager, whereas Klopp got nowhere near the stratosphere of such an amount.

We had tragedy that season too (see above), and both Klopp and Ali, even in grief, were able to rise above it and make that season respectful even with academy players at CB in the Run-in.

This is something we seriously need to stop doing cos we are minimising the damage this man has done to this club, while at the same time imo, reducing some of the great work Klopp did even in seasons where we were off it. None of those were this bad. Again, not all bad seasons are created equally.

OliRed, why don't you read my post correctly, instead of trying to be the all knowing.

I didn't do the comparing of the seasons. I clearly stated that I read the comparison recently. I also went on to voice my complete dissatisfaction with what Slot has done to our club. But hey, if it makes you feel superior, carry on.

04 May 2026 14:25:43
Slot hadn't lost most of his defence and Klopp didn't spend 400m either. Klopp also played better football. At the time, FSG were rightfully getting grilled for not investing at the time.

KBL, it's nothing personal. Oli has a way of winding posters up with his self righteous rants. He had a go at me the other day for saying something, when I hadn't even said it.

04 May 2026 14:54:22
KBL, sorry if I was a bit harsh. I had just seen stuff being posted about the very thing I was referring to and felt I needed to react.

I did read your post and indeed, you didn't do the comparison. Again, my bad.

04 May 2026 15:00:43
Rome, you do the exact same self-righteous crap whenever you try to flex about being a match-going fan hence, your opinion should matter more than non match-going fans. Remember that? Yeah, who's self-righteous now, genius? Glasshouses, and all that.

04 May 2026 15:16:58
Correct me if I am wrong, but by definition, "judgement" or "judging someone or something" is always as a comparison to someone else or something else, right? There is nothing that is an absolute truth to anything on this Planet. Everything is perception. So what's all the commotion about? ?

04 May 2026 16:40:45
Oli, as the saying is, opinions are like ar*e holes, we all have one. Mine is no more valid than anyone else, it's just my opinion.

What I can say, with the utmost conviction is, I'm more of a supporter of Liverpool Football Club than you are and ever will be, regardless of whether I attend games or not. And as Rafa said, "that's a fact".

04 May 2026 17:34:16
OliRed, thanks for going back over my most and re-reading it. Sometimes it is easy to react too quickly to some of the posts on here and get hold of the wrong end of the stick. I've done it myself a few times.

Keeping things civil is sometimes not easy, but it usually is the best way. Thanks.

04 May 2026 19:57:44
Rome is right. You can only be a true fan if you attend the game like he does and I do too. Otherwise you're just a web-bound mouthflapper. No offence.
