Hi eds
Madrid sniffing around wirtz?
Any news or details? Apparently alonso pushing
I'm trying to remain calm . BUT its Madrid. absolute pain in our backsides for the last decade!
Thanks in advance!
1.) 28 May 2025 19:24:18
I won't relax till it's announced. My desperation on Wirtz has reached fever pitch.
2.) 28 May 2025 19:25:59
Makes me very nervous, the connection with Wirz and Alonso.
3.) 28 May 2025 19:30:12
I think its more Spanish press putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with cr*p. I hope.
4.) 28 May 2025 19:46:28
Done deal lads, jesus the fear of Madrid on here is getting tiresome.
5.) 28 May 2025 20:15:34
I’ll relax when I see him in a Liverpool shirt.
I remember Caicedo.
6.) 28 May 2025 20:51:19
Wirtz is coimng to liverpool, he likes the vision of the team being crafted around him. He has probably been guranteed first choice, he won't get that Madrid too many egos over there for a new younger lad to be the main ma. He is coming Liverpool for sure
We will know before 1st june, Talks are a plane from cologne to Liverpool airport tomorrow maybe wirtz medical?
7.) 28 May 2025 21:51:14
Wirtz is not going to Madrid. He has his heart at Liverpool. Hi decision is final. The family’s plans are advanced to make the move soon.
8.) 28 May 2025 22:07:37
Conspiracy theory is that RM don't want to pay anything for the early release of Trent so have put out this story with the intention that they'll drop their interest in Wirtz if we let TAA go early and for free. That's just what I've read today online.
9.) 28 May 2025 23:55:28
Re RM, Bellingham has been moved more deeper central to accommodate Mbappe, so Wirtz doesn’t really fit their style as it is imo.
10.) 29 May 2025 00:16:35
If we sign Wirtz then we do. If we don’t then we don’t. We’ve just won the league easily without him so if we don’t sign him we’ll be just fine.
Chill, one player can never make that much difference anyway.
11.) 29 May 2025 00:30:24
The Alonso factor makes me nervous.
Wirtz thrived under Alonso.
12.) 29 May 2025 03:27:00
It’s the Spanish press Sh#t stirring. Does anybody seriously think that Wirtz didn’t know about Xabi to RM for a while now, or that RM wouldn’t have told him to try and turn his head?
If the lad has chosen Liverpool because he likes our vision for the future then he’s not going to be interested in what AS or Marc’s or any other press organisation that RM own.
13.) 29 May 2025 10:11:40
Football is all about teamwork and cohesio. Liverpool can win more trophies merely by adding quality players to solidify the depth of the team. Wirtz is a good player that will cost much just like Caicedo. Without him we can sign other good players without paying that much. I wish we also sign Malick Fofana and Rayan Cherki from Lyon. They are good and cost effective.

Hi Eds
So I'm seeing Ornstein is posting that Amorim is in talks with west ham and isn't likely to make our short list? . any updates on this please
This is becoming intolerable . I wish I didn't start following the new manager search and just waited to the end of the season!
Cheers.
{Ed002's Note - West Ham have spoken with his agent but it strikes me as an umlikely move.}
1.) 22 Apr 2024 18:08:02
I wonder if Smough has any leads on who our new manager might be.
17 Apr 2024 09:53:09
Hi Eds
Just thinking . any interest in Ivan Toney from us?
With our below par finishing we prob need something of a goal getter .
I think i would sell both salah and lucho in the summer . replace with a proven goal getter in Toney . and perhaps leave a bot of space for some game time forna couple of the younger lads?
Would also like Neto . but his injuries suggest another Jota . brilliant when avai . just not avai as much as needed .
Cheers.
{Ed002's Note - No.}
1.) 17 Apr 2024 13:30:22
Surely that would be a huge gamble?
2.) 17 Apr 2024 13:49:40
Yeah VV. you can bet on it!
3.) 17 Apr 2024 15:50:21
Too lazy. Too costly for what he is. Not happening.
4.) 17 Apr 2024 17:40:37
Hardly worth punt, the odds are against him.
5.) 18 Apr 2024 22:41:31
Mo is already on the plane to Saudi imo and has been poor for a long time now and a shadow of his former self so cash in now and I’d love to see Isak at Anfield! Darwin is proving not to be the goal scoring answer sadly as much as the fans love him. Different manager and different system might give him a reprieve ??.

Hi ed
Hope ypur well and fingers poised to hit send re player profile.
I've read that zubimendi has not entirely committed to arsenal and that he has options .
Now I don't think we should go back in for him . BUT would we consider another move if he gives any kind of encouragement to do so? (In your view)
Hopefully the club are in the mindset of saying you had your chance . but again if it was a signing based on statistics and analysis . I wonder if he would still be ticking the boxes we want.
Cheers as always.
{Ed001's Note - no, he is busy flirting with Madrid now.}
1.) 04 Jun 2025 10:14:21
Lol what a flake, the guy has no backbone.
2.) 04 Jun 2025 10:22:32
Would not want him anywhere near our club. Can't have anyone with that behaviour. We want players who want LFC like Frimpong, Kerkez and Wirtz. all strongly want to play for the club and the fans.
3.) 04 Jun 2025 10:49:41
If I remember correctly part of his interest in coming to us last season was due to his idol, Xabi Alonso, having also played here. Assume the Madrid pivot is due to his appointment there.
4.) 04 Jun 2025 11:16:30
Does that matter Paisley? He’d all but agreed to join us and then changed his mind at the last minute. Now, according to reports he’s all but agreed to join Arsenal (who he apparent turned us down for which is very odd in itself) and he’s trying to pull out of that to go to Madrid!
I reckon he’s the most indecisive player ever. One to avoid I think.
5.) 04 Jun 2025 12:53:08
I argued over the use of "flake" to describe him during the last window but I have to admit that I was wrong and he is indeed a flake. I'm glad that his move to us fell through. Wouldn't want him anywhere near the club if he reneges on his agreements so easily.
6.) 04 Jun 2025 12:53:31
Man seems to have a serious case of The Mood Swings.
02 Jun 2025 07:25:15
Just putting it out there .
If we do sell Diaz. don't we already have a left sided forward in Chiesa that could just fill in? Rotate with Gakpo.
I would be happy to give the guy a proper go this season . sell him cheap this season for minimal profit if any . or give him a go . if he can contribute and we still want to sell next season . then surely his value would have gone up?
Just think there is a player there if the stars allign for him in terms of injury free . think with a run he can easily reach Diaz levels.
1.) 02 Jun 2025 07:36:34
Based on the last season, it would be a massive drop in quality to let Chiesa has Diaz minutes. In my opinion a very risky option.
2.) 02 Jun 2025 07:41:06
I’m with you mightreds. Clear Gakpo wants to be first choice so it’s either sell both and get a starter or keep Gakpo and have Chiesa as back up for cup games etc. we still also have Jota who can play on the left. Add a.
3.) 02 Jun 2025 09:14:08
2020/ 2021 Chiesa was world class. The fact that he's had a 8 month pre season and still not got up to speed then i can't see what some fitness in Jul/ Aug will change.
Unfortunately the 2025 Chiesa isn't the same player that the 20/ 21 was.
4.) 02 Jun 2025 10:09:10
Chiesa featured in six League games for us and we lost half of them. He also featured in the League Cup final defeat and the losses to Plymouth and PSV.
Stats can be misleading but I would need to see a lot more from him to want to see a lot more of him.
5.) 02 Jun 2025 10:15:08
JK23 he hasn't really had an 8-month pre-season though because he hasn't been given a run of games to build any kind of form. He was also played as a 9 a couple of times which isn't his position. I also think Chiesa is worth the risk because, in case he does fail, we can just play Szoboszlai there as he will no longer be the starting 10.
6.) 02 Jun 2025 10:46:26
I thought Chiesa looked very good against Brighton. He has sharp instincts, italian composure and makes decisive decisions.
7.) 02 Jun 2025 11:16:42
We should have bright cheisa on earlier against Newcastle, he was the only spark in the team when he came on!
8.) 02 Jun 2025 11:29:18
If Chiesa manages to have even a semi decent season next year, his value will skyrocket. I'm sure the bean counters at the club are well aware of this.
9.) 02 Jun 2025 12:23:46
Thats true ArAy1969 that's why i think he'll be loaned out to Italy soon.
10.) 02 Jun 2025 12:33:37
Babbity it probably comes across as I'm being a bar humbug on Chiesa but I'm just being a realist.
Chiesa didn't get a run of games but he's still been in training every day for 8 months. The reason he didn't get any games was because Slot chose not to pick him.
Even after winning the league we had 4 games to go. Slot started him in one, gave him 8 mins in another and he didn't even make the squad of 2.
That's 4 meaningless games so I can't imagine he starts or plays in meaningful ones next season.
He's literally had a full season of not playing football. Yes he had an injury but that was 3 years ago. He played over 30 times last season.
How many players have had almost a year of not playing whilst being fit and recovered.
I really really hope I'm wrong and only time will tell.
{Ed025's Note - im with you JK, i see him as purely a squad player and impact sub myself mate unless someone can tell me where and who he starts ahead of..
11.) 02 Jun 2025 14:16:32
JK23 I think we'll probably know by the end of pre-season whether Slot will give him a shot or not.
12.) 02 Jun 2025 15:14:17
We certainly will mate.
Truth is my heart wants him to do well but my head is saying differently.
30 May 2025 15:39:27
Just a bit of info . sky has got a stats pack up for Wirtz and where he is amongst top players in Europe. have to say quite interesting have a look if you get chance .
Ed1 has already got his player profile ready to hit send as soon as it's confirmed!
{Ed001's Note - hahahaha I am waiting for the confirmation before I start it. I am not prepared to risk jinxing this one.}
1.) 30 May 2025 16:59:37
Ed001, Wirtz or Bellingham which potential signing got you more excited?
I would love to get the opinions of other posters too.
I have never be more excited about a possible signing since Bellingham.
{Ed001's Note - Wirtz because it feels like it will happen.}
2.) 30 May 2025 21:42:54
Ed001 thanks for the response.
It also feels like he wants it more.
If we get this over the line, it would be like winning another trophy.
23 May 2025 11:55:30
One for the eds
I don't know if it's refreshing or concerning but Slot as no quibble about publicly slating or praising any player . when asked
So is this just a Dutch frankness we have to get used to or do you think he is just stamping his authority all over the squad?
Definately different from Klopp days!
Thanks for the insight .
{Ed025's Note - i watched his press conference this morning MR and thought he came across very well mate, he is so calm and collected and honest...its very refreshing actually..
1.) 23 May 2025 12:20:19
100% Ed. If these players can't take a bit of honest criticism, they're in the wrong business. There's nothing wrong with what he said.
{Ed025's Note - yeah Stone im a big fan mate..
2.) 23 May 2025 12:22:42
Yeh he always comes across so well . but the content is a bit unusual these days .
Players tend to get put in a bubble but he seems to just give an honest answer!
Just thought if the modern footballer can cope with negative feedback. publicly.
{Ed025's Note - i like his tone MR, its concise and honest...who could ask for more ?..
3.) 23 May 2025 13:29:51
I love Slot! Intelligent and to the point. His honesty and the way he talks is great. Breath of fresh air. I think he’ll win the lot!
4.) 23 May 2025 14:58:46
Slot is def my type of manager, honest refreshing and calls a spade a spade, plus he is quite a tactical genius.
5.) 23 May 2025 15:25:40
He’s hardly slated anyone this season.
He’s been honest without being overly extreme or fake tough about it.
13 May 2025 12:31:08
Hi eds
With frimpong and kerjez looking really likely. do you envisage a week to our playing style next season?
I know ED1 put the shout out for Slot right at the beginning, does flying fullbacks scream how Slot likes to play.
I say that loosely as he seems very adaptable in his tactics so maybe he or the stats guys know something we don't know in things that they both can do?
Something simple like bombing forward in certain situations rather than as a standard tatic?
Thanks in advance.
{Ed001's Note - from what I saw prior to him joining and from all the tactical stuff out there, Slot favoured inverted full-backs, but that doesn't mean that is the way he likes to play. As we have seen with us, he likes to adapt and alter, so it maybe that he was just using inverted full-backs in the main as they suited the players at his disposal.}
1.) 13 May 2025 13:08:26
Edd001 who starts when both fit? Bradley or frimpong?
{Ed001's Note - it could easily be both. It really depends on how Slot wants to play anyway.}
04 Jun 2025 09:21:05
I've seen in regular click bait nonsense that mac allister has been on the door tmof the recruitment guys telling them to look at him .
TBH . I thought the days of sign my buddy had gone .
Player wise I can't offer opinion as not really ever seen him play other than the world cup and thought he was poor . (finishing wise) from memory i thought he missed more than nunez on a good day. ;-)
17 Mar 2025 13:57:14
Klopp midfield of milner Hendo and wijnaldum was not creative at all and got slated for it. but what they did was work their socks off. tackle . generally horrible to play against . and just pass it to one of our front 3 to do the biz .
22 Apr 2024 15:32:13
It's Alonso. Just said he is staying to get press off his back.
23 May 2025 12:22:42

30 Apr 2025 09:01:26
I mentioned this yesterday. would love for something like this on the parade. Guiness world records for attendance at a parade and world record for the arne bounce. ?.
29 Apr 2025 08:08:39
Hah! Typo . 26th it's booked.
31 Mar 2025 15:45:37
Does anyone know how he plays when on international duty? . if he plays differently it may suggest he can play a different way . but that's just how he is told to play at Bournemouth
Seems like an easy/ lazy buy for me . Hughes would already have all his info on him but it's not like we ever get stung by one season wonders is it .
25 Feb 2025 12:31:31
As in Evans was the manager when I started supporting. I was too young to be able to tell you if he was tactically astute. ?.
