As most have been saying on here for a while, the stats suggest that he would be a good Macca upgrade but he's not the DM that most people are crying out for.

If you have Gravenberch and Curtis Jones, what do you need Wharton for? That's what this graph tells me.

Grav is DM. Reason he has more fwd passes and higher % than Wharton is Liverpool have more possession and last season played so safe that the stats are misleading. Wharton would take more risk with his passes like Trent, meaning we can hit teams on the transition sooner. This would benefit Wirtz. The team should be better managed so less space for players to cover, and if Grav is instructed to focus on being a 6, I think we will be ok.
We did win the league two seasons ago with Grav as a 6, so it is not as dire as people think. Though, of course, if money was no issue I would love a Kante type but not sure there is many of those around?
{Ed025's Note - Grav stank the house out last season MOT, if you cant make a 3 yard pass and amble back when you lose the ball it doesn,t mater what number you are playing mate..

Dead right, that's why we need him back to his form 2 seasons ago Ed, hoping the new manager can inject some renewed life into to him.
