Is it just me or does it not appear that the most logical conclusion to all of this is that PSG agree a deal with RBL that allows Diomande to remain at RBL for 1 more year and join PSG next summer. In the meantime they sign Akliouche and keep hold of Barcola until next summer when they get Diomande.

Meaning RBL and PSG both get what they want and we miss out on both our primary targets I hope I'm wrong, but it just feels like we're getting played here and PSG hold all the cards Hope we have other options up our sleeve!

That's exactly what came to my mind, but I'm not bothered, the Diomande deal feels like I've gotten an email from a Nigerian Prince, Barcola's going to be overpriced, he's nobody's dream signing, tbh, and I don't too much fancy funding PSG signing our no.1 target. I think I'd like to see us bring in Mike Godts on the left, and Bowen or Rayan on the right.

I'm unsure about the RW position, as the market's poor and the talent is lacklustre, so I think Bowen could tide us over for a couple of years whilst we put the scouts to work, he would bring some much needed grit and leadership to the team.

I like Bowen, but I feel we will be overpriced and is probably just last his best.

Very much doubt the Qatari funded back to back winners of the Champions League are struggling for money. Plus, they've just sold Ramos for EUR75million. This whole narrative of us buying Barcola would be funding them getting Diomande is comical.

If we got that kind of money, maybe we should test the Olise waters. Cheeky 160mill bid. He is worth that kind of money.

RabrizioFomano, nobody said PSG needed our money, but in case you didn't know, they've completely moved away from their previous ways of reckless spending to adopt a much more disciplined and sustainable model. They won't be spending excess amounts on top talent without selling, so even though the owners may have plenty of money, we would still be funding their purchases.

RedScarface, now that I can sign up for, he's the only one on the market who looks anywhere near fit to fill Salah's boots atm. I've been wishing the club would make a move for him for at least 2 years now.

Chewy, you are in essence saying they need us to buy Barcola to fund their purchase of Diomande due to them not spending excessive now.
They've just sold Ramos for circa 75 million euros, meaning they would only be spending an extra 30-40 million euros on Diomande, (if figures touted are correct), which they would have made back in Champions League winnings this last season alone so I don’t know where you’re looking at it being unsustainable or ill disciplined.

Do you have any concept of how much £160 million is? It would be the third highest transfer of all time, you don't just put in 'cheeky' £160 million offers for players.

05 Jul 2026 01:22:09
You're all thinking way too much. I guess that's what happens when we haven't signed anyone for a couple of weeks.

05 Jul 2026 04:57:38
RabrizioFomano, no that's the complete opposite of what I said, you're being ignorant by choice now. My literal words were "Nobody said PSG needed our money" So don't make up s*** for the sake of an argument.

All clubs sell players to fund purchases. The funds from 1 particular sale are not directly allocated to a specific purchase; each penny doesn't have an exact destination. Funds generated contribute to overall liquidity, not individual piggy banks with targets' names on them. If PSG make 200m from sales, including a deal with us, we are funding their purchases. End of.

Olise for £160m would be a disaster, he would have to score 25 plus goals a year for five years to justify that, and he isn't a scorer, more a creator. He is also lazy, and I would not sign him. I would much rather a Mane type, someone who works hard of the ball, is quick, direct, scores and creates.

PSG could easily do the following: buy Akilouche with the money from Ramos, agree to buy Diomande next summer as we did with Keita. RBL seem to be more receptive to these types of deals, sell Barcola next summer, Diomande's fee costs them nothing this summer and the Barcola/Diomande fees are close enough to not affect their balance sheet too much.

They may also move on Lee for decent money.
