Don’t know if there’s been a post on it already but Trey Nyoni impressed me with his confidence and the passing between the lines, I know it was only Wrexham in a friendly but still. Any chance he gets first team game time?

Yeah, had a good game. Could be a squad member next season, and if so, I can see Endo going this window. I'd like to see Iraola develop Bacjetic, and we move on Jones this window also. Move on McAllister and bring in Wharton.

He has looked really sharp. If Nyoni was playing for Brighton or Palace, we'd be begging to splash 40mil on him.

I have been saying this for ages, but his line breaking passing is a standout quality about him. Very few players can do it (Thiago, Wharton), and we need to exploit it. If he can develop properly, there is no need for us to spend 70mil on Wharton.

Everyone who's watched Nyoni likes Nyoni. He's clearly a talented boy, but he does need to find a role for himself & focus his development in that direction. Is he going to be a 10? Seems less and less likely, but he can see a pass & has technical ability.
Is he a destroyer? Definitely not. Could he play the 8 role like Macca or Jones? Yes. Could he be a link between defence and midfield, yes. The only worry is that he doesn't learn a specific trait, and becomes a nothing man midfielder.

I know a lot of people mocked me when I said he'd really be pushing for a starting role this season, and that his passing reminded me of Fabregas. I hope people will soon see why I was so high in praise for him.
I wasn't exaggerating or getting lost in emotion, he is just a really serious talent. It is Nyoni's potential why I don't really see the need for a signing like Wharton.

He will be a regular first team member and get good game time. I think his ceiling is massive. We don't need a DM with him in the squad in my opinion. If we move Macca and Jones on, I still think there is enough depth in the current squad to cope.
Both the young centre halves look really promising also, and I like Kumas. If we get a RB/RCB and land Barcola and a right sided striker then we will have had a good window.

Ron, I saw that. He was full of praise for the lad, wasn't he. Having watched Nyoni a lot at youth level and in last year's pre-season, I'm very glad we finally have a manager who historically has put his faith in young players.
It's up to Nyoni now. Being very talented will only get you so far. He now needs to work harder than ever before, act fully professional, stay humble, regardless of any hype, and show Iraola he has a willingness to learn.

Two games in a row that he's played well. And he looks very complete as a midfielder. No hesitation in tackling. Confident in moving the ball forward. Good positional sense. Let's see how he does with the big boys when the season starts; I wish him well.

I commented it on another post about this, and I'm super happy to see that everyone here is recognizing the talent that Trey has. We should absolutely be keeping him and playing him. I can very much see him being a six or playing in that double pivot six when we need calm heads and good defense.

Nyoni seems to have "filled out" in the last 6 months and imo that increased physicality has helped him show his potential.

I wouldn't get too excited. Every time the club bigs up a youth player in pre season they either get loaned or sold before the start of the season.
Expect Nyoni to get sold lol.
