Like many others here I'm very worried about the lack of defensive cover.
Lutsharel Geertruida would seem to be an ideal acquisition - can play right back, centre back and as a defensive midfielder. Premier League proven, Dutch International and available for less than €20million euros.
Seems bonkers we aren't interested.

Why is it bonkers?
Why do posters see someone available and assume they know who we should be after better than the club?
Will he fit the club/manager?
Does the club/manager value him as highly as you?
Do we have an alternative lined up we would prefer?
I just don't get this type of post.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Milan Van Ewijk operates in the Premier League. Think he is similar to Jeremy Frimpong in terms of profile but from what I've watched, probably a better defensive full back.

Hughes should've been moved on, mate.
We've known for over 6 months Salah was leaving, and it seemed he had the eggs in one Diomande basket with no alternative.
A full year, we've known we need a right back.
And an entire decade knowing Joe Gomez is made of crisps and relying on his fitness is total madness.

Paul H, it was Barnstormings view that Geertruida would be a decent acquisition for the club, so there was every point in his post!
Absolutely fine that you disagreed with it & you pointed out your reasons, but to shut down a poster because you thought there was no point pretty much sums up the mood & atmosphere on this site of late!
If someone wants to post their views, fine by me, but some guys can get put off posting, which isn't what it's all about.

Also, wasn't Lutsharel Geertruida a Slot choice? I suspect Iraola will want his own input and not the previous manager's choices.
Plus, isn't Iraola supposed to be assessing his squad before we dive into the transfer market?

I'd argue Geertruida isn't Premier League proven, as he barely played for Sunderland, and was pretty average when he did. Again, another random name of a player who simply isn't up to the quality we need.

People at the club should react on the feelings of individual fans.
Now that would be a fiasco and a mess.
