If we could currently only sign one player with whom we've been truly linked with. I'd take Adam Wharton all day.
For me he makes a greater difference than a Barcola, Minteh or Mbaye. We have so much quality in forward areas. It's not exactly balanced but if the likes of Isak and Wirtz kick on, you've two elite players.
Adam Wharton would be perfect for this team and under Adoni. How can you sell Jones and let Wharton a home grown top talent go to City. The lad wants to come to us. Make it happen.

I agree with Ron Fink, and it was criminal that he wasn't in the England squad for the World Cup.

Disagree 100%, pace on the wings was the main reason we struggled last season and will be the main reason we'll struggle this season, unless it's addressed before the window closes.

Is it Groundhog Day?

It's all opinions, but a non-existent midfield to me was the reason we struggled last season. Couldn't defend for s*** and couldn't attack either.

Absolutely not Wharton.
He'd be a good squad rotation player at best.
We need Barcola to get done.
Don't fully get why people think Wharton will improve our defensive play. Is that a strength of his? Is he any better than Grav or Macca when they actually hold position and do the job they should?
But yea, Barcola, and not because it's dragged on, we need another attacker.
Ekitike is out long term. Isak will likely get injured, which leaves Gakpo as our only senior attacker. Even I've given up on Chiesa at this stage. Munos looks exciting, and Rio is a flashy kid. We badly need an established attacker who will improve our starting 11, and therefore our bench options also.

If it's one player, then it'd be Barcola.
We need depth in quality in the attack.

One player? Sadiki, every time.

If we can get pace on both wings, then I agree with you that Wharton would be the perfect player for us to get the ball to the wings or Wirtz early.
I'd also agree at this point that Barcola is the most important player that we are targeting at present, as a player who can cause absolute mayhem with his running in behind and propensity to generate big chances for himself and others through sheer pace, he is unquestionably the number one option on the current market.

How much space is there to run in behind when most teams set up the low block against us?
I'd imagine Barcola would have dealt a lot with this playing for PSG if that's how teams set up in France, though.
