Guehi deal to City in the final stages! & Glasner going end of season.
16 Jan 2026 15:02:02
Glasner might be heading to the Theatre of Screams with Carrick as an assistant.
16 Jan 2026 15:02:16
£20m apparently. At that price I'm shocked we're not at least making an offer for a player we clearly wanted to sign just 6 months ago. Over £30m I'd understand walking away, but that's a very fair price.
16 Jan 2026 15:07:50
Fair enough FSG don't want to get into a bidding war with City, but surely they can match the offer.
£20 million for an English proven PL and international defender, who could be capatain and be the defensive mainstay for the next 7 or 8 seasons? After all, they were going to pay £35 million or so in the summer for him, so i don't understand why they are letting one of our main rivals to take him without even trying?
16 Jan 2026 15:19:10
Alex Crook reports wages of 300k. Maybe that's why we didn't pursue him. That is a huge commitment.
16 Jan 2026 15:20:50
fooming with this, after Semenyo
Weakens us, strengthens direct rival
They say things come in 3- Just our luck that Alonso replaces Pep in the summer.
16 Jan 2026 15:29:13
What a total F**k up. This is truly worrying in my opinion.
16 Jan 2026 15:35:27
I've never seen such doom and gloom for an average player going to a rival. Yes we need centre backs but Guehi was only ever a market opportunity. He isn't strong enough or quick enough to play in a back 4 for a top side.
16 Jan 2026 15:40:46
Yeah £20m and 300 grand a week. Would he still get a signing on fee also? Or that spread over his wages? Strengthened our opponents again leaving city to take semenyo and guehi I feel. Thought with the summer window we'd turned the corner and actually planned on buying the best available. Semenyo and guehi are 2 of the best in the prem in their positions and semenyo definately should have approached big time to replace salah eventually, guehi an instant upgrade on konate and Gomez.
Oh well, we'll live to regret this to end of season no doubt. No way Gomez and konate stay injury fit till end of season…. no way at all.

Stand up steven caulker.
{Ed001's Note - what is Ozan Kabak up to? Does anyone know?}
16 Jan 2026 16:09:41
Agree with Sean. I can't see Guehi gets many minutes after all their center backs come back from injury. He would be the new Ake for city.
16 Jan 2026 16:15:53
@Sean; he is far from an average player.
16 Jan 2026 16:18:54
They are not going to pay a substantial signing on fee and give the lad 300k a week to sit him on the bench - honestly some of the absolute muppets on this site - the lads the future England captain and we've missed out on him - no other way to dress it up.
16 Jan 2026 16:20:33
Guehi will play, he's a very good defender, he'd probably be their second best CB and so start.
16 Jan 2026 16:35:32
Liverpool have a very strict wage structure. Besides, they're not going to bring somebody in and put him on 250+ out the gate when we have proven senior players on 100k less, it would seriously rock the boat.
{Ed025's Note - but how strict is this wage structure Chewy?, you have one player on £400k a week and a couple on £300k+ mate..
16 Jan 2026 17:03:47
"Hold my pint" Ozan Kabak.
16 Jan 2026 17:20:29
Although a good player he's not a 300k a week player though Aquilani, not near it. City are paying it because short term they are in desperate need, even more so than us. I would not want Lfc to pay him that kind of money, stops being a great deal.
£78m in wages over 5 years. Throw in the £20m fee and signing on bonus and it goes above the £100m. This for a player who was always seen as a market opportunity. I agree with other posters i wouldn't have him ahead of the likes of Gvardiol and Diaz.
16 Jan 2026 18:04:49
I'm a big fan of Diaz but I'd have Guehi over Gvardiol but it would be boring if we all thought the same I suppose Musiala.
16 Jan 2026 18:19:44
Where ever kabak is he definitely won't be any slower than he was.
