Slot is gone come the summer, this was engineered some months.

He knows it, the club knows it and the players know it.

In my opinion, the whole situation has been and is being dealt with appallingly.

Ta.

{Ed025's Note - cheers Carra..

Cheers, Carra, much appreciated as per usual.

Appalling is a soft word, mate. This is a disaster of a season, and I bet we will lose against Spurs.
Spurs are so down, and the only way is up, and they couldn't get a better opponent than us next.

Says a lot!!!

Cheers, Carra. Hopefully him going at the end of the season is irrespective of, by some miracle, winning a trophy?

I just want him gone, and Alonso in. Should have been done in November, but here we are. And, as for Edwards and Hughes, what a complete shambles!

Cheers, Carra, being held appallingly is an understatement. He needs to go now, the players know it makes it the biggest s*** since Barnum's circus.

The only person who doesn't know it is Florina Musiala. His heads too far buried in the sand to see the wood for the trees.

MK S, I would say nobody outside the club knows anything for sure, and I would not be at all surprised if Slot sees out the remaining year of his contract. We may not want or like this to happen, but it is not up to us.

11 Mar 2026 12:13:49
Hi Carra, thanks for the update. Could you pls elaborate on the engineered part? If one is to stick with a manager, at least support him, and keep your cards to yourself. If the players and Slot both know this, no wonder any motivation to salvage this situation has gone down the drain.

Then again, these are highly paid professionals, should they not be giving their all anyways on the field, which some are not doing?

11 Mar 2026 12:26:03
The situation goes a long way in explaining why we're consistently dross and not improving. What a mess of a season. Let's hope and pray we can get a CL spot and reset in the summer.

11 Mar 2026 13:18:57
Negligence on the part of the decision makers at the club, in itself, grounds to dismiss them too.

11 Mar 2026 14:26:19
I think, before Slot, we should let go of the people who have hung Slot out to dry, i.e. Edwards and Hughes. What motivation would one have to come to the job every day knowing he is out in a few months?

It is just beyond bizarre that the team looks like it needs another 500 million to compete, when we just spent that last summer.

We need to let go of Slot, Salah (not the poster here :) ), Konate, Macca, Jones, Georgi, Gapko to start with.

@ MK Scouser: Brilliant.

KBL, nobody knows when he will go for sure, but you'd have to be oblivious to not be able to see he will not survive past this summer.

This has been the worst season for over a decade in my opinion. Probably Roy Hodgson's 6 months is how far back you'd have to go to find something similarly as bad. We're only still in the mix for the Champions League spaces because Villa are wobbling under the pressure and Chelsea/Man United had horrendous starts which resulted in Maresca and Amorim getting fired.

There is just no universe in which Slot is not sacked for this. You simply cannot spend circa £450m on a title winning team and not even be able to play exciting football; never mind actually compete for trophies. Realistically, even if we turn it around against Galatasaray at Anfield, we are not playing well enough to actually win the Champions League, and it'll take a minor miracle for us to beat Man City at the Etihad in the FA Cup quarter finals. They battered us 3-0 there in the league and that score line flattered us to be quite honest. Our owners are patient, but they will not be happy at such a significant outlay being squandered to the extent our revenue for the next financial year is could quite realistically see a 15-20% decline.

People who don't understand the financial side of the game will point towards the net spend (due to albeit significant sales) but those people are failing to realise is that the money we've spent last summer will show in the accounts for approximately the next 5 years (depending on contract lengths, as a transfer fee is spread across the length of a contract). On the flip side, the money that we brought back in last summer through sales will only show on the accounts for the 2025 financial year. If we miss out on Champions league football that £450m split 5 ways, leaves a £90m black hole in the 2026 accounts that we will struggle to fill, especially on top of investing further to replace players like Salah, Robertson, Virgil and Alisson in the next 6-18 months; all of whom are not likely to recoup much, if any money at all.

This dreadful season on the pitch could have a serious knock on effect to our ability to rebuild the team in the face of losing our first choice keeper, our first choice CB/captain, our vice captain and our 3rd all time top scorer. Anybody making light of this seasons performance, or the amount of money we spent last summer is, frankly, being a fool. Slot and Hughes will have some serious questions to answer, and at least one of their heads will roll, probably both. I'm not even in the know and I can say with conviction that Slot will not be Liverpool manager next season.

11 Mar 2026 17:18:56
MK S, I agree with everything you've said there, but all I'm saying is no one knows for sure, and with the like of Hughes and Edwards around, nothing would surprise me. Of course, your reasoning and comments make absolute sense, but do the 2 mentioned above have the same sense?

11 Mar 2026 18:30:57
I'm with MK, I cannot see us beating City at their place in the cup. They've beaten us comfortably twice this season, and as for the home game against Galatasaray, Slot has normalised losing at Anfield in a way that makes Roy Hodgson look competent.

It's more likely that we get nothing out of that than somehow claw that one back. They know how weak we are in midfield and defence, and Slot has not bothered to fix that, but instead he's rigidly stuck to tactics that have failed all season long.
