Hi gents,
It’s about 3am now and the club had an insanely busy day. Now after so many months of negotiation, I can exclusively confirm that Barcola deal is Done. And I don’t mean done and it’ll be announced on last day of the window, I mean Done as in negotiations have concluded and major news outlets will announce it today. This has been a long and tiring sage so I’m just glad that the deal has finally concluded.
Midfield…I am not aware of any talks with Monaco for Camara, I’ve said it few weeks ago. I don’t think midfield is a priority now (although it should be). Wharton was a priority for Slot before he got sacked, but Iraola wanted a different profile to Wharton hence the interest cooled off.
My sources told me that Mbaye will still very likely get done. We enquired for Rayan but Bournemouth wanted to keep him for another season. A lot of friction going on between Iraola and Hughes, Hughes kept pushing for the Data centric signings despite Slot sacked and Edwards having already left the club, but Iraola wanted his own set of players. It has been a really challenging summer for the club, I’ll reveal more soon. For now just wait for the Barcola announcement coming today.

Though I am not privy to the daily operations of the club, I am sick of Richard Hughes and will be glad to see the back of him. A textbook example of the problems that arise when people recommend their mates into positions demanding high competence.
The only other issue is that his replacement will likely come from the incompetent group working under him now.
{Ed666's Note - Do you think the new consortia namely Bhattia as a board member have an input on who replaces Hughes or is Gordon calling the shots on that particular decision mate? I would have thought Gordon would have enough nous by now to appoint a stellar candidate?

I agree with something Ed001 said the other day - There's no way they'd have demanded seats on the board if they had no interest in running the club. The club is in much better hands if Gordon is running it day to day than the likes of Hughes, but my problem with FSG has always been that if they'd shown more interest and oversight in making our operations effective rather than just growing revenue, the likes of Hughes wouldn't be a factor and we'd win a lot more than we do.
Liverpool have the money and prestige to hire pretty much the best there is, so why don't we?

AA/Robbo/Carra, is Barcola an Areola preferred signing or more a push from Hughes? I wonder, did Areola have other players in mind, and Barcola is just a project from the past we are now closing because of all the work that has gone into it?

Like I said to Robbo, I will sit tight and believe it when I see it. Nothing on any media platform this morning to suggest anything is done either. I also think a few unknown/surprise signings will be made too.

Appreciate the post, AA, but one thing: the sentence 'Barcola is done' is most definitely NOT exclusive. In fact, we have all heard this all summer and even enjoyed a philosophical debate about what 'Done' could mean.
Someone even took the time to create a Done Scale. (Was it Fornax?) Perhaps your interpretation, AA, is on that scale, but it sits there along with many others who have come before you.

Would like a dm but we won the league without 1 and should revisit in January. Hope Wirtz comes good, but something tells me he will struggle and he's not a No 10.

Morning gents,
Didn't expect this to get so much attention, so I'll just clear some things up.
While I might not be the 'first' to confirm Barcola being a done deal, I can only share what I've been told (working late night here in London is a nightmare, mind you).
Barcola was a signing presented by Hughes. He was on a list of names discussed with Slot before he was sacked. On that list was also Wharton, Lacroix and Tchouameni.
I'm sure there are others, but Barcola was the only one that interested Iraola.
Any additional signings after Mbaye are not expected. The main focus after should be outgoings. Hughes is struggling to move Elliot, Chiesa and Endo, which frustrates Iraola even more. I'll be off to work soon. Will share more throughout the day if I have anything new. Talk soon.

I love rumours, as I've said before, but this summer has been ridiculous. Seriously, how credible do people think that suddenly from nowhere we've had about 8 or 9 new people with genuine info?
