Fantastic start! Everyone looks great and up for it. I feel we're a better team when szobo isn't playing. Could see him going in the summer.

Not many teams can accommodate two CAMs in the starting 11. Profile of our midfielders is pretty similar, Grav, Macca, Slob and Wirtz can all play that 10 role and sometimes we get caught because 2 or 3 of them are trying to occupy the same space.
When one of them is missing it's 1 less trying to play the same way as 2 others. We are much better today, but you can still see we are easy to play through at times. We will get better though.

We look great today but I don't think that's because Szobozlai isn't playing.
It's a squad game, especially if you want to be competitive in 4 competitions like Liverpool do.
Shout out Macca who has had a terrific season so far — working so much harder, making more sprints. Hopefully continues.

@FM, it's the reactionary stuff that was under discussion yesterday - it's Szob's turn, is all. If we were to beat Chelsea 6 - 0 and Arsenal 8 - 0, Ali will be singled out for not making any saves.

It’s not a case of devils advocate I just say it how i interpret it..my truth may not be someone else’s truth and that’s ok because we can’t agree on everything. Like no one can persuade me that Gakpo played well today and that’s not me being harsh it’s just what I saw. His decision making was lamentable at best.

The root of the issues is a lack of a midfielder to pair with macca. When szobo is on the pitch those around him look worse.

I agree with your Gakpo narrative Ed but the one thing he did do is carry the ball extremely well. That was key at certain points in the game. Yes, frustrating as hell when in those last moments but he was involved, he was lively and he worked hard. He was part of the reason for the team to win today and you have to accept that.
The frustrating thing is, we all know he can finish, he has a wonderful right foot but its almost like he becomes too single minded in those moments maybe too selfish and confident in his ability to do it alone. Doesn't seem what we all see and he looks average in those moments.

Gakpo was absolutely rubbish today, greedy and selfish, cost us several goals, could have put the game to bed and added a couple of assists to his tally, he's not a team player from that left-hand side.
