Liverpool patch journos saying no more signings. Awful window.

So we've signed Ndukwe, a young talent that looks good. France star Barcola, from Europe's best side in recent years. France's young super talent Jaquet. Belgium's top GK prospect, albeit he doesn't join until next summer.

A young, hungry Spanish talent in Munoz, and are pushing for a rw. Oh, and another huge talent for next summer.

Are you now saying that is so bad that even 24/25 signings of Chiesa and Mama was better?

31 Aug 2026 16:36:31
And yet still end the window with glaring issues in midfield and right back. So, whereas it's not as bad as the first window slot was given, let's not pat ourselves on the backs and say Iraola has been fully supported, particularly given that Hughes signed more players for his new employer than his current one.

31 Aug 2026 16:38:58
I don't mind any of the signings so far, Big Hairy Ape. All good. I wouldn't have sold Jones without replacing him though. For all the stick he gets on here, he was better than Macca and Gravenberch last season.

31 Aug 2026 17:05:49
You can only judge this summer transfer window and a player's overall performance at the end of the current season. The window still has circa a full day to go. Sometimes players leaving the club also improves your club in the long run.

I also had some of your concerns last year, and was critical of Florian, etc. I honestly thought he had his best ever game in a LFC shirt on Saturday; however, one swallow doesn't make a Summer.

There is Autumn, Winter and a Spring before the next Summer. There is only one reason for Florian enjoying his football again, that is AI. You only win trophies with graft and hard work, there is no other way. "Overnight success" is only for the Roy of the Rovers supporters!

31 Aug 2026 17:33:31
It's hard to give it more than a 2/10 window. Barcola is brilliant and Jacquet will be too. Munoz I like the look of, but we're going to persist with 2 of Mac Szob and Grav in midfield, which hasn't worked for 18 months. And never worked with Wirtz ahead of them. It's not going to start working. We don't have any good full backs either.

We bid for 4 right wingers, Mbaye, Minteh, Diomande and Sarr, and came away with none. Chiesa, Tsimikas and Endo still lingering around. It's been a disaster. Set the manager up to fail, there's going to be the same boos from last year in the stadium before Christmas. I think if we got a DM and put Szobo at RB, we'd have some chance of doing well.

31 Aug 2026 17:38:42
Ignore the journos don't have a clue. We will see more additions.

31 Aug 2026 17:25:35
Big hairy ape, tell me which one of them plays DM and which one plays RB again?

31 Aug 2026 20:47:02
Nyoni is the Jones replacement FM.

31 Aug 2026 14:47:35
2 more days only. And then we can resume normal conversations.

If the first 10 games end up in draws would you sack Iraola?
Since nobody is bothered about rb and Lb we will keep shipping goals and because of quality upfront we will keep scoring goals.

31 Aug 2026 16:37:20
No, I'd not sack him simply because the imbeciles above him have failed in their duties.

31 Aug 2026 17:28:30
No, there's nobody to replace him!

31 Aug 2026 17:36:32
Zero chance he doesn't win any of the first 10, but if he didn't, then he should absolutely be gone. Any manager would be the same.

31 Aug 2026 14:25:09
Afternoon

Barcola is done, contracts signed, so expect official LFC announcement shortly. Also expect a huge late push for Rayan. The committee realise we are light and Rayan is seen as a backup to Isak and rotation will get him sufficient minutes. If Rayan can't be budged it will be Sarr.

Toodles

Rayan won't be sold. Their business is done. Best to go for him next summer at £87m release clause.

31 Aug 2026 17:35:16
Let me get this straight: Rayan, who's a RW, is considered backup for Isak, who's a ST, and Rayan will get sufficient minutes in rotation with Isak even though Rayan's a RW, and we currently don't have a RW?

From the BBC:

Liverpool have completed the signing of France forward Bradley Barcola from Paris St-Germain for a fee worth up to £123m.

PSG initially valued the 23-year-old at £145m, but Liverpool will pay an initial £106m plus £17m in potential add-ons.

Finally confirmed!

Thanks to those that stuck their necks out to say it would get done!

Hi all, quick update from last night.

Confirmed Incomings…

Djylian N’Guessan, 18, striker from Saint-Etienne. Fee TBC. Player terms done and medical authorised. Joins summer 2027.

Lucca Brughmans, 18, goalkeeper from Genk. €35m package agreed, medical authorised. Also joins summer 2027.

Next expected in.

Ismaila Sarr, 28, RW from Crystal Palace. Around £50m.

Lamine Camara, 22, midfielder from Monaco. Around £50-60m.

Next expected out.

Cody Gakpo, 27, to Man City. Around £85m.

Harvey Elliott, 23, likely Valencia. Looking like a loan.

Still expecting another defender to pop up before the window closes.

31 Aug 2026 15:47:57
So we loan Elliot and lose him on a free. Now that's great business. Palace want 75m for Sarr, so it's a no for me. Use it for Minteh.

31 Aug 2026 16:05:18
Camara is due to go Chelsea, mate. We spent that money on an 18 year old keeper instead. Another masterclass by Hughes!

31 Aug 2026 17:08:40
He's got 2 years, @bighairyape.

31 Aug 2026 17:32:22
Caicedo went off yesterday with a reported very bad injury, after coming on as a sub. Camara interest could suggest a long term injury for Caicedo

31 Aug 2026 10:47:01
We have agreed a fee for Lucca Brughmans from Genk… That would cement that Georgi will be leaving for Notts Forest.

Agree2

31 Aug 2026 12:16:23
Does it? Lucca's not coming until next summer.

31 Aug 2026 12:29:42
Meanwhile, Guela Doue, an RB, has gone to Leverkusen for EUR30m. ? Just got to laugh or you'll cry.

31 Aug 2026 14:13:20
Does anyone think the new goalkeeper signing is actually for Becker, who is out of contract for the next summer transfer window?

31 Aug 2026 15:49:01
That's my thoughts, 007. Huge fee though so must be great.

31 Aug 2026 15:59:38
Could well be 007.

31 Aug 2026 10:19:57
At the risk of being torn to shreds by the masses (nah not really bothered).
Would Alvarez not be of interest this window even if on a short term loan?
He wants Barca I'm sure, but if he is pushing for a move away anyway would we be a suitable destination for 6-12 months, allowing Gakpo to leave for a few we might not get in January?
Might allow Isak to drift more perhaps.

Just a thought.

I'll have some of what you're drinking, Qwertzy.

31 Aug 2026 12:34:59
He doesn't want to play in England, perhaps if we moved Anfield into Spain then this could be a good option.

31 Aug 2026 10:14:18
Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster.

Firstly, thank you to all the Eds and posters who make this site what it is.

Needless to say, my first post is a bit@h and moan one. One aspect of Kerkez's game that has me tearing my hair out is his crossing into the box. I mean, he rarely gets the ball past the first defender or it's too long. Prime Andy Robertson used to ping absolute gems into Salah and Co. Regardless of everything else about his game, I had assumed that crossing in balls from the wing would be bread and butter for an elite footballer.

I'm no expert though, so I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

I think you are right, in the last 2 games the delivery from both fullbacks has been poor.

This doesn't mean that they are both poor players who can't cross a ball. It simply means they've been poor for the last 2 games.

It really is nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of extra training on their delivery into the box. Show them what they did wrong and coach them to do it better.

It doesn't mean we should throw the baby out with the bath water.

In truth, Robbo's delivery into the box has been poor for the last 2 seasons too.

It's very easy to get drawn into thinking that Robbo always picked out a man in the box, he didn't.

One thing Robbo and Trent had, though, is runners. Prime Salah and Mane would make good runs and be ahead of their markers so they can get on the end of crosses. Diaz too.

Gakpo and last season's version of Salah were always behind the defender or not even making the runs, making them more difficult to find with a cross.

I have no doubt it will come with a bit more coaching and when everyone is on the same page.

31 Aug 2026 14:53:08
Our play is now much slower than under Klopp.

Not saying they are great crossers (Kerkez or PingPong), but by the time they are in a crossing position, the opposition box is packed with players.

Robbo and Trent invariably had space to hit, a lot easier than trying to pick someone out in a crowded box.
