Would a midfield of Nyoni and Grav work better with Wirtz in front and Szobo on the right? Or Munoz on the right with Szobo in behind the strikers? Feels wrong to drop Wirtz and had hopes for him working, but doesn't seem to be clicking for him now and the price tag for him is looking huge.

Ideally get a winger in and a mobile ball winner. And a new right back but time is running out.

No reason Szob can't do a job on the right, in my opinion. If we don't sign a winger that can play that side well in the next few days, I'd opt for that. Either way, though, we just need a DM or Grab needs to be told to hold, or at least rotate with whoever is alongside him.

Why does everything keep posting, we need to sign a CDM, asking each other, when are we signing a CDM?

Yes, I agree we 100% need one, but the boss't want one.

Wirtz needs dropping. It's like playing with 10 men, he offers absolutely nothing going forward, poor passing, woeful finishing.

Chew, with this squad, I would have Macca and Gravenberch or Nyoni any way round with 2 of them playing behind Wirtz and Szoboszlai in the right.

We're not going to address midfield and that is going to cost us this season. We've too many similar profiles. All attack minded box to box midfielders with no defensive nous. Weak, soft and tackle shy. A sensible well run club would address that. We'll carry on playing square pegs in round holes and keep conceding cheap goals.

In my opinion Wirtz should be playing on the left wing or not playing at all. He's not strong enough to face up to big center backs.

Gakpo (everyone's new favourite this week) can only play on the left, but he is very predictable. Wirtz is much more inventive and would have more time to pull off clever passes, which we know he can do.

We already know that Gakpo cannot play central so Wirtz and Gakpo can battle it out for that position, may the best man win.

I have seen enough of Frimpong to know that he's not good enough. Not strong enough, fast enough or composed enough.

Can't wait for Bradley to come back.

I think Jaquet looked slick and confident and if he has someone reliable in RB I think he will get better and better.

Araujo looked bigger and more powerful than I remember so between them hopefully they can be good partners for VVD.

Keekez doesn't seem to excel at anything, he's a bull in a china shop and a liability.

Rio is too weak for the prem at the moment and is a bit naive.

I think Isak will come good.
Munioz looks strong and hungry.

Gakpo got his goal when he came central. He offered nothing whilst being out on the wing. The lack of threat in wide areas allows teams to pack the middle and crowd out Wirtz and Isak, and it draws the other midfielders forward to try and help out, making it even more crowded, and giving the opposition space to counter into. It also allows the opposing wingers to push up on our fullbacks without fear.

Although it is not entirely our wingers' fault, as they got little-to-no support from other players, once we get a couple of rapid, direct wingers in, I think we will see a big improvement across the whole team. The other thing that needs to happen is that our defence needs to engage with the opposition rather than just constantly backing off.
