Ok so now we are out of the Champs league and struggling to finish in the top 5 in the prem. It’s time to get rid of Slot. Not in summer, now.

14 Apr 2026 22:11:36
Sorry, not gonna happen.

14 Apr 2026 22:14:50
"It makes no sense to sack him now. Should leave him in for the rest of the season."

- Eejits.

14 Apr 2026 23:04:44
Got a horrible feeling the club stick with Slot.

14 Apr 2026 21:56:21
I think this is pretty telling with where we are under Slot. The crowd amazing as usual, but you can just tell it’s hope more so than the usual belief we have. As with the Barca game, I’m pretty sure everyone had 100% belief we were going to do it.

This has always just felt like we are doing ok, but I hope they don’t score, rather than we just need one and we will steamroller them. Luckily we are about as horrific as the other teams around us in the PL so we could still get 3rd somehow.

14 Apr 2026 22:15:33
Hopefully, Bob, with the other fixtures & Villa still in Europe, 3rd place is doable, but unfortunately don't think we have the energy or mentality to push on after tonight. Fingers crossed. ??

14 Apr 2026 13:59:58
Regardless of what happens tonight / if we go onto winning the CL there is no return for Slot in my eyes.

He has said to many negative narratives towards the club and fans, the way we have played almost a full season after spending "only "£200 Million" after sales or whatever spin you want to put on it. He needs to go and I believe regardless he will.

I never want LFC to lose and will be watching and hoping tonight, but as a realist, we are a sh*t show due to Slot and his inability to get the players fit and play a proper formation / tactic.

We have no chance of turning this around, I believe like anyone else, but I know what Slot will do, and we all know he will go for Slotball.

The whole narrative change around Slot is plain stupid. He won't be here next season regardless what the club darling journalists say and I for one will be delighted to see the back of him and his management team.

14 Apr 2026 14:26:44
If we do win the CL then I very much doubt Arne would be asked to leave. The decision would be down to him, but you'd have to wonder why he would want to leave after securing the two biggest trophies in club football.

He's only a young guy in football managerial terms so you'd think he'd see out his contract, unless he's so home sick he just couldn't face another 9 months in the UK.

{Ed025's Note - i have a feeling you wont have to worry about that after tonight Overkill.. :)

14 Apr 2026 14:37:31
I'd agree Ed, I can see us winning but not by three. I can equally see us losing tonight, we still look very fragile.

{Ed025's Note - the first goal will dictate everything Overkill, if you get it then they could get very nervous..if they get it...its goodnight Vienna mate..

14 Apr 2026 16:36:26
Unlikely we win Big Ears, but unfortunately for the OP, if we did manage it, Slot would be a hero. A new contract would be signed, and we would be looking at that beautiful shiny head for the foreseeable. On the plus side, we'd have a winning manager at the helm, ready to lead us into an era of dominance.

{Ed025's Note - i think you may be turning into Donald Trump mate..

14 Apr 2026 16:43:35
Absolute Nonsense, Florian, and you know it.

14 Apr 2026 17:20:29
What part is nonsense, Klopp?

14 Apr 2026 18:00:43
Him staying, FM. He ain't. Regardless of winning or not.

14 Apr 2026 18:14:42
You think he leaves if by some chance he won the Champions League, Shanks? He'd leave alright, and walk straight into a job at the Bernabeu.

14 Apr 2026 18:21:04
We're not winning the first half, never mind the competition, get a grip.

14 Apr 2026 18:40:12
Didn't say we were, Chewy.

14 Apr 2026 18:42:08
I do FM. It's beyond results. There's a disconnect that, unfortunately, developed, festered, and is irreparable. I wish him all the very best, but his time is up, and I believe everybody, club, and Slot buy into that.

14 Apr 2026 19:02:01
Fair enough, Shanks, and get your point. Just don't think anyone at the top would want to part ways with a manager who'd have won the two prizes the fans covet the most in consecutive seasons. He would get another huge budget to complete the squad, why would he leave? Personally, I think we'll go out tonight. Hope with all my heart I'm wrong.

14 Apr 2026 19:22:57
Fulham had 19 shots on goal at the weekend and could run through our midfield at will. PSG have better players than Fulham do, and if given the same opportunities (which is more likely than not, given Slot has shown no willingness to change his daft midfield tactics), they won't be so generous.

We lack the pace, physicality, defensive nous in midfield and tactical set up to get past PSG. Slot isn't winning the Champions League anywhere but on his PlayStation back in his hotel room.

14 Apr 2026 19:33:55
So you're saying there's a chance tonight, Victor?

14 Apr 2026 22:12:51
Florian, you are Lloyd Christmas in disguise.

14 Apr 2026 22:55:54
If you shook him, he'd rattle.

13 Apr 2026 19:00:52
Good evening,

As much as I’m praying slot goes at the end of the season and Carra and Robbo LFC keep saying he knows he’s going and wants to go back home himself.

Then why don’t he or the club come out and say he will be leaving at the end of the season by mutual consent? Just like Salah has and Robbo? Instead of all this, the club has his backing and slot saying he has their backing etc?

Agree5

13 Apr 2026 20:54:25
Squeaky bum time. ?

14 Apr 2026 02:20:36
It's standard procedure, clubs always back the manager, right up to the second they give them the sack.

14 Apr 2026 05:55:38
In England, whenever a club has announced that a manager is leaving at the end of the season, has the season ever ended well?

14 Apr 2026 12:00:26
Rightsaidred, why would the club come out and say Slot wants to go home? The whole club would take their eye off the ball. No, buddy, no need to say anything until the fat lady sings!!!
Oh, here she is calling me for me breakfast.

{Ed025's Note - dont let her see this page Albey, there is a very long wait in A&E at the moment mate.. :)

14 Apr 2026 12:49:18
I've posted on Banter. I think Slot's here next season. Based on me knowing nothing.

14 Apr 2026 16:37:31
Does that qualify you as an ITK, Rome?

13 Apr 2026 18:59:53
Lots of chat on here about Alonso not having prem experience and they being a factor to choose Iarola instead.

Klopp never had prem experience and will forever be with us. Didn’t have a attachment to us before he came but we won’t break our bond to him now.

Would you guys say the same if it was a between Enrique and Iarola?

I want Alonso, yes he didn’t come to us but at that time I remember it being said that he said he would one day manage Liverpool.
He’s been one of us, he's coming home all.
2027 champions

13 Apr 2026 20:11:33
He played 143 PL games for us. I would argue that is more PL experience than Iraola.

13 Apr 2026 21:07:40
SK, I'm assuming they mean prem manager experience, mate.

13 Apr 2026 21:39:00
For me the key is about knowing the league. Doesn't matter if it is whilst being a manager or a player. I actually think that being on the pitch and in the middle of it all gives you a better understanding than standing on the sidelines watching.

14 Apr 2026 12:05:34
Alonso brought his all conquering team to Anfield and got an arse slapping, so is his system going to work in the Premier League?
Iraola has a system that has caused us problems over a few seasons and beaten us with it too. YNWA.

14 Apr 2026 12:36:11
Iraola every time for me. He is an excellent coach, develops young players and plays attractive football.

14 Apr 2026 19:37:18
Brendan Rodgers and Roy Hodgson had more Premier League experience than Jurgen Klopp, but you'd not want them above Klopp, would you? Alonso took a completely unfancied team and made them not only competitive, but he broke Bayern's stranglehold on the Bundesliga. Leverkusen are not called Neverkusen for nothing. To me, he has to be the top candidate. He has experience of winning a title against tough competition, he's built a winning squad from nothing, he likes his teams to work hard, and he knows the club and the City. Madrid can be disregarded largely because of what a toxic khazi the place is and what a group of dickheads the players are.

That said, a 71% winning percentage is still very good, and no one knows if he'd have been able to win the title because their players were being asked to actually work and cried to Perez. He only lost his job due to a weak board. The other question is, how many progressive managers from mid/lower table clubs have gone on to success at a big club in the Premier League? I'd suggest not many. Potter & Maresca failed at Chelsea, Bodgers failed with us. I feel like I'd rather have someone with an actual track record of success in overhauling a tough opponent with greater resources who knows the club, than gambling on a coach from a lower team.

14 Apr 2026 23:23:04
Alonso hasn't been in the Premier League since 2009, 17 years.

That's a long time, it's changed.

13 Apr 2026 17:05:38
Bruninho Braga - Athletico Paranaense - 17yo.

Effectively the left footed Ngumoha. Remember the name, before he's signed by FC Porto / Brighton.

With Liverpool's recent keenness to sign young defenders, I'd love for us to finally join the 'Young Brazilian Prospect' party with this man.

Merci.

13 Apr 2026 22:57:51
Off to Shakhtar apparently.

14 Apr 2026 07:11:59
Fair play to him if he does.

It always baffles me when 'Big Clubs' like Liverpool allow incredible talents to join a 'smaller club', with full knowledge that if they develop how they hope they might, they'll cost a fortune.

Surely signing him, then loaning him out, would be the financially smart move, although having said that, I'm probably imparting far too much of my Football Manager strategy to the real world.

Merci.

14 Apr 2026 13:04:51
Maybe something to do with the 50m asking price to the big European clubs (us, City, Real etc) before it's announced a short time later he's off to Shakhtar for 12m.

13 Apr 2026 00:30:00.
Read that Juve may have to sell to comply with financial rules, so Khephren Thurman may be for sale. Would be a good addition/replacement for Mac players in a double pivot, defensive-minded one we looked at along with Manu Kone under Kloppo.

Going back to January 2023 targets wasn't on my bingo card.

12 Apr 2026 23:56:50
Congratulations Rory, even though you are a Manc!

13 Apr 2026 00:38:04
Yeah congrats Rory will be a big party here in Augusta tonight. Was pulling for Rosey. He won't sleep well tonight after the 3 putt on 13 and the short miss on 17. I've been to US Opens but nothing like witnessing the Masters up close. Best tournament in golf hands down.

{Ed078's Note - was tough concentrating on my own game today whilst streaming the final round on my state of the art ICON golf cart wide screen.
Still managed a respectable 75 off the stick.

13 Apr 2026 07:50:22
And what did you score on the back 9 Ed078? ?

{Ed078's Note - oi, cheeky :)

13 Apr 2026 09:50:50
Golf i thought this was a football site!!

{Ed025's Note - a couple of mentions for a great sporting achievement never hurt anyone Albey..open your mind mate..

13 Apr 2026 10:27:11
It's the best golfing tournament in the world, alongside the Ryder Cup. I would like to have seen Rose win, too. Fair play to you Red Flyer.

13 Apr 2026 11:14:47
Totally agree Rome. I've watched every Masters since 1989 (was a big Nick tFaldo fan, still am!). The drama of 1996 (different to the drama of 2022 as the one I was rooting for won!) was unmatched until the Miracle at Medinah!

13 Apr 2026 16:07:10
Ed, that's a nice round and even under what we could describe as mitigating circumstances! I really thought Rosey had it and I'm just gutted for him!

Rome, if I had to pick, It would be tough. The Ryder Cup has become immense. I fancy a trip for the day next year but I think I'd go on the practice day. From what I read this last time, it's very hard to see the golf up close.

{Ed078's Note - Today? An 82. Brought back down to earth with a thud.

12 Apr 2026 21:35:23
I hate to say it but I just don't see slot going in the summer. It makes zero sense that Salah and Robbo are leaving if a new manager comes in. Also he's been under so much pressure that the club surely would just announce he's leaving at the end of the season for family reasons etc to save face. It would stop the negativity instantly, lift the fans and players and he'd get some level of thanks for what he did last year rather than the toxic situation that's occurred.

I hope I'm wrong. He should have gone months ago and I'd love Xabi to have a chance. Just doesn't add up to me and I think a lot of us will end up disappointed come the summer.

Agree2

13 Apr 2026 09:53:24
Slot does not hand out the contracts, kipwilbo, so it does make sense that they are leaving and Slot to at end of season, buddy. YNWA.

13 Apr 2026 10:29:53
Would have thought both players would have jumped at the chance to work with Xabi, who is mosts choice to be here next season. Especially Salah, who actually had a contract for next season. Seems strange.

14 Apr 2026 03:16:02
Slot's got nothing to do with contracts. Robbo wasn't even offered one, so he has absolutely no choice in the matter. Salah has been pushing for a move since last year. Why would he wait around for 6 months to see whether or not the manager is staying? Also, there's no chance Salah could have known whether or not Slot would be staying on back then. Not even the board knew at that stage. His legs are gone, and he knows it. For a player whose speed was so key to his game, bouncing back from this season's performance at his age is nigh on impossible, no matter what managers are in charge.

Generally speaking, clubs don't announce they're going to sack a manager in 6 months' time. The few times something similar has happened, it always has a terrible effect on performances, something the club cannot afford. Not to mention, Slot has massive credit in the bank, and the club would be more than happy to accommodate a mutual parting as a professional courtesy, and of course there's nobody the club deems suitable to come in as caretaker.
