I think the bigger concern is the form of Salah and Gakpo. Wirtz can't do it all alone.

Football Inquests only begin at the end of the season, not the start of the season.

No goals, no assists in premier games, however the team he has been in and played his part in games has only lost one premier league game, individual performances are not as important as the team winning, winning results are all that counts, and not getting beat also helps, their is no worse result than a defeat.

There are no easy games in the premier, every game is a final nowadays, this is the toughest league to win in the world.

European Leagues are farmers leagues in comparison, summed up by PSG and Bayern Munich, RM/ Barcelona have nearly won their leagues before Father Christmas has come down the chimney, of course there is always a Leicester in any league, Jurgens BD, Alonso's Leverkusen but they are done with exceptional managers at the helm, who are no longer there.

Bayern Munich has won the Bundesliga 18 times since 2000, and won it in eleven consecutive years from 2013-2023. That is the biggest reason that European Teams have won the European Cup more times than British Teams, they effectively only play half a season to English teams, throw in a months winter break and that is a huge advantage also, for clearing up niggles?! one could suggest.

There's no crisis. It's simply the bedding in phase. The only concern is defense.
I do not believe in chopping and changing every game and especially this early on. People saying for bradley to rotate. The lad needs regular football which he didn't get much of last season. This is like a new season for him because there's no trent. He has to play most games if fit if he is our future right back. Kerkez too. They have to consistently play to bed in and perform with confidence. It's easier to take them off or even a midfielder than the likes of konate.
Make no mistake about it. We have a real issue defensively and konates a massive part to that. I expect slot to play him Saturday and I expect more of the same. It's madness but then I'm also thinking slots afraid of gomez ironically picking up an injury. But if konate continues and performs like more of the same we're going to suffer more than we should.
I would also mention, jotas tragic passing could be playing a role here.

Disappointed with Bradley, he had moments of brilliance, but he looks way off the pace now.
I'd also be concerned with him starting as he is looking quite petulant with some of his tackles, quite a few stupid yellows.

Bradley is a constant red card waiting to happen, needs to learn when to just stand up his man rather than constantly going all in every tackle.

Slot has literally said today that he can’t play Bradley or Frimpong in every game because they are both coming back from injury so need protecting.

This is what people are failing to understand. The manager is having to try to integrate new players whilst at the same time manage players workloads as it’s early in the season and they have all come back at varying levels of fitness. Some because of injury and others because of a lack of preseason and some because of both.

We just need to have a bit of patience, when everyone is fit we’ll get a better idea of where we are. I don’t think there is any doubt this squad is now far superior to the squad that won the league at a canter last season.

Issue for me at the moment is that our full backs are a downgrade on what we had previously and don’t yet understand our system and Wirtz is extremely poor on the ball and lacks energy in midfield.
The rest will fall into place.
For Saturday our midfield should be Gravenberch, Szoboslai, MacAllister and our RB should be a right back (Bradley)
Salah to return, with Isak and Gakpo up front and I’m confident we can do Chelsea 3-1.

How can wirtz be getting judged when macallister has been in the worst form I've seen.

He came on and managed to misplace all of his passes.

Wirtz hasn't exactly hit the ground running but he needs players making runs to do what he does best. He certainly isn't our most underperforming midfielder as Dean points out. Within seconds of Isak coming on last night he made a run in behind and Wirtz put him through 1-on-1. Unfortunately Ekitike then got injured and Wirtz had to go out on the left where he is wasted. Wirtz is not the problem. The team not having any urgency or movement and not being able to play a 5 yard pass accurately is the problem.

Slot wants to play a very specific way to move the opponent around and create the spare man all over the pitch. This requires players to be confident on the ball, courageous and on the same wavelength at their team mates.

Ibou and Macca not being at it has a massive effect on the whole setup. This for me is the key issue.

After that, we still need time for Kerkez to feel confident enough to push on and for Gakpo to actually acknowledge his team mate as well.

Wirtz is perpetual motion. Problem is, we cannot find him. And he then gets frustrated and comes deep looking for the ball.

I agree with that Pelican. When the new players are bedding in, we need to rely on our regular players to pick up the pieces while covering for them. Unfortunately, Ibou, Macca, and Salah have been way off it. People forget that we essentially have to bed in a new RB, a new LB, a new CM/ AMC, and a new St. That's a good quarter of a team there.

The football is too slow we push the ball across defence several times pass it forward and it goes to edge of their pen area then passed all the way back to Ali . Why? Do the players have shooting practice because they very really have shot and if the do they miss the target .

I am not moaning about the team just the build up i can go make a cup of tea and when i come back the ball is where it was before i went to make my cupa to slow to boring YNWA.

The level of quality has dropped from a top team to 12th place level

Should be interesting to see how the manager handles this conundrum - will he change tactics - or be be stubborn Amorim
