I hear Iago Aspas is a target. Any other clubs interested in him?

Whenever it comes to our players, I always try to think would I buy this player if he was not already at LFC. I think that answer is a definite yes for Allisson and a maybe at best for Kelleher:

Don’t get me wrong - I am a big fan of Kelleher’s, but you can pick only one goalie and Alisson is the best out there.

Thanks for your predictions Macca. IMHO you will get 2-3 out of the 6 right.

Tarkowski - Unlikely - Like many of the other posters I hope we get Ben Mee instead of Tarkowski. Klopp likes ball playing centre backs, and Tarkowski may not fit the bill

Fekir - Possible - Makes a lot of sense given where he plays and how he plays

Dembele - Ousmanne or Moussa?
Ousmanne: I would like it to work out but unlikely given the price Barcelona are likely to ask for him. He is a two footed player which is good, but he has lower workrate than what a Klopp team tends to demand

Butland - From your previous post, I reckon this one is likely to happen. It makes sense because a lot of our players are not homegrown now (Lallana and Milner are in the twilight of their careers, Ward may be looking to move on to get first team opportunities, and the rest of your list of desired players are not British)

Cabellos - Possible to happen - he is a good player, Zidane may not rate him as much as he would have liked

On top of your list, I have a feeling (no source or anything just a random fuzzy feeling) that we will buy one player from Leverkusen this season on top of the list shared. Which one of Tah, Bailey, Havertz, Henrichs, and Brandt i don't know.

Could it be Moussa Dembele and not Ousmanne.

Thanks for the update, Macca. Greatly appreciated as always.
If it is a ‘top, top player’ it would have to be an established international, and TOP 5 player in their respective league. Some of the options based on the responses above could be:
1. EPL - Sanchez, Ozil
2. La Liga - Gareth Bale, Suarez, Oblak
3. Serie A - Dybala, Donnarumma
4. Others (French, German, etc) - Veratti, Kimmich, Lewandowski

I think it has to be one of these 10 players. Which one, is anybody’s Guess unless Macca wants to help us with more clues?

Ed002 - I know that Julian Brandt was rumored to be looking for a move away from Leverkusen given inability to qualify for Europe. Liverpool seem to be looking at other options for now, but do you know if there are other teams interested in Brandt at this stage? Not seen a lot of press on him of late.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very keen and he was the first choice. The issue was that I guess he looked at the squad and thought how does he fit in. Hence the question - will I be starting? The massive advantage of Brandt is that he is a proper left winger with the ability to play across the forward line. The others are generally right winger with the ability to play across the forward line. He was the number one pick and he would bring more to Liverpool than the others being looked at. Both North London sides have shown an interest in him but right now neither is making any real effort. Bayern may look to him again as a Costa replacement.}

For the club it is one key player. For us as fans it is one key player. For Trent it is the story of his entire life. He should do what fits his own narrative best and that’s what he is doing. Good luck to him at Real Madrid. I have no doubt that we will find a solution and move on to new heights.

I never end up seeing the live chat link… where is it? Or am I banned?

w0rdsmith

{Ed033's Note - w0rdsmith is on the approved list. The live chat link appears on game days around 11:15am i think, either above or below the Ed2 Tributes button.

I grew up in India with limited football telecast in the 80s and 90s, but I played for the youth teams of some good clubs (East Bengal), and liked soccer.
Finally got my hands on fifa 98 as the first soccer game on my first computer. And I just loved playing with Fowler. It was between Liverpool and Wales to play using Fowler - and Liverpool it has been since :-)

The treble in the Houllier era helped cement it.

Fully agree. I also think Klopp deserves some credit for setting up this squad and team spirit before he left. Couldn’t have left the team in a better shape.
