Heard Liverpool has reached an agreement on the Compensation fee with Feyenoord, apparently it's €12m, everything between Slot and Liverpool is agreed so I'd expect an announcement by the weekend.

KopKevin

1.) 26 Apr 2024 12:22:18
Hope so, speculative and pure click bait is annoying. Want to thank the 'EDS' for all their time, efforts, knowledge, wit, and sarcasm over the years i've been following.

2.) 26 Apr 2024 14:10:43
Is he available before the West Ham match. Ha.

3.) 26 Apr 2024 14:25:59
Heard they'll have to pay for Slot's two assistants too that will follow him. Around £13m.

4.) 26 Apr 2024 15:00:34
Why would you want him before the West Ham match?

5.) 26 Apr 2024 15:32:39
Hope he will SLOT right in!

6.) 26 Apr 2024 15:33:25
scouse john L8, because we are absolutely rubbish at the minute maybe?

7.) 26 Apr 2024 16:06:56
“ john L8, because we are absolutely rubbish at the minute maybe? ”

Sitting third with a trophy in the bag, three points off top with four games to go.

Whilst the performances have clearly dropped off and we are all gutted, maybe just think about what we consider“absolutely rubbish” now and compare it to what we would have said was “absolutely rubbish” 9 years ago.

As I said the football recently has been crap and I have seen more pulses in a morgue but looking at it objectively we’ve come so far.

8.) 26 Apr 2024 16:10:07
Going to face all the same fsg problems Klopp good luck to the poor bloke, he’ll be tired in a few years too.

9.) 26 Apr 2024 16:17:04
Scouse, I think Mark was having a laugh.

10.) 26 Apr 2024 16:22:14
Just one thing, probably showing inexperience, but I knocked Amorim for it so I think its only fair to knock Slot too. Can he not keep his gob shut until the current season ends?
I wouldn't be too happy to hear my manager, with games left in the season, to be talking about how happy he is to be going to another club.
Now, as I said, it's probably down to inexperience but I would think the top brass at LFC aren't too happy about it either.

ANYWAY, hopefully Slot moves smoothly (slots? ) into the position of LFC manager and uses the talents he will have at his disposal to have a very sucessful career at our club. Looking forward to it actually.

11.) 26 Apr 2024 17:08:06
Will he bring Bakayoko to replace Salah?

12.) 26 Apr 2024 17:12:45
I think Klopp's and Slot's statements to the press are to allow them to keep control of the narrative to some extent and curtail the worst of the speculation when things inevitably leak.

13.) 26 Apr 2024 17:49:03
The Ha at the end should give it away. But Klopp can’t motivate the players properly so a new voice is very much needed.

14.) 26 Apr 2024 18:38:48
Surprised me too PC. maybe putting pressure on his club to get it done.

15.) 26 Apr 2024 18:44:59
Do you not think a agreement with a manager secretly agreed before klopp devastating announcement would not of caused or eased the unrest which is clearly running through the club now? Or even a quicker decision on who we wanted? Still would of loved alonso, even amor in really excited me but slot is well respected and he's got feyernoord playing decent footy.

16.) 26 Apr 2024 19:37:17
I like the guy saying unambiguously that he's up for it. He's also not jeopardising his current team's future by coming out with it now. Feyenoord are pretty much guaranteed to come second in the Dutch Eredivisie. They're 9 points behind PSV with 3 matches to play and a negative goal difference of 30. Meanwhile, the third placed team are 12 points behind.

17.) 26 Apr 2024 19:43:22
Lets hope and prey we are not getting a ten hag.

18.) 26 Apr 2024 21:55:45
Ten Hag is terrible with the media and I can't imagine he's much more charismatic with his players. I know nothing of Slot and quite frankly I'd never heard of him until 02 mentioned his name. Trusting in what I'm reading and Ed's rubber stamp.

19.) 26 Apr 2024 21:56:21
@JLDA agree mate - the bloke is just being honest - he was asked a question and he answered it honestly, fair play to him.

20.) 26 Apr 2024 22:18:26
Damnded if you do and damnded if you don't.

21.) 26 Apr 2024 22:53:37
WDW3 - A lot of the stuff I've read on Slot stresses that honesty is one of his big features.

22.) 27 Apr 2024 02:42:06
Damn the man - what will we do without the tapping up rumours?

On a more serious note - as a Liverpool fan I’m happy that he is joining. He seems honest and capable from the little I have read and those qualities aren’t a bad start in my opinion.

23 Apr 2024 17:11:18
Looks like Arne Slot is the new man.

KopKevin

1.) 23 Apr 2024 17:42:46
I expect a period of transition no matter who the manager is but so long as we play exciting football to watch, I’ll be happy in the short-term.

2.) 23 Apr 2024 18:08:22
Respect to Ed02 who has been suggesting Slot for a while now.

3.) 23 Apr 2024 18:10:30
Ed2. Has been mentioning Arne Slot from the beginning.

Paul Joyce tweeted 2 hours ago “Feyenoord coach Arne Slot interesting Liverpool. “

Fabrizio Romano just tweeted the following “One more direct contact will take place soon between Arne Slot and Liverpool board to discuss more key points of the project.

Slot, keen on Liverpool job and concrete option as he’s highly rated by #LFC. ”

I don’t know much about him as I don’t watch the Dutch league. All I know is he turned down both Spurs and Chelsea in the last few years.

All I know is when Joyce is very reliable when it comes to our Liverpool affairs. So it looks like our next coach is Arne Slot.

4.) 23 Apr 2024 18:43:07
*All I know is Joyce is very reliable when it comes to Liverpool affairs. So it looks like our next coach is Arne Slot

Autocorrect ?‍♂️.

5.) 23 Apr 2024 18:54:00
Impressive call by Ed to be fair. He did say he would be a good choice some time back and the one to watch.

6.) 23 Apr 2024 19:12:03
Mr Amorim (or his agent) might have blown the opportunity to manage LFC by being too quick to yap to the media too often.
As we all know LFC like to keep things inhouse and he has shown himself to be the exact opposite.
We don't need a drama queen at this club.
Rumours have it he is also looking for £200,000 per week after tax!
A double barrel straight in the foot there.

7.) 23 Apr 2024 19:27:23
I have a strong preference for not a Dutch manager. No disrespect to Slot or any other Dutch manager some of whom have been great players and outstanding coaches in the Dutch league. But, culturally they are not as compatible with the English game and player/ club culture as some other cultures. I'm not going to quote names, but there have been more than 2! This is not intended as anti-Dutch, its just an observation.

8.) 23 Apr 2024 20:06:12
I can think of some very successful Dutch Managers. I think ETH at Man Utd has people worried that every coach from the Dutch league will be as bad as him.

I have no idea about Slot. He could be just as bad, he could be worse or he could be amazing. He has done well in his short managerial career so far.

If he gets the job, he'll have my full support, just as anyone who we hire.

9.) 23 Apr 2024 20:22:25
I'm inclined to agree with Viva. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but a Dutch manager has never competed for a title in PREM and have only been decent 'cup' managers.

He might succeed where gullit, Jol, van gaal, de boer, ten Haag have failed but I think Dutch coaches are too wed to the 'dutch philosphy' and not really flexible enough to succeed here.

10.) 23 Apr 2024 20:51:11
Hiddink did okay at Chelsea.

11.) 23 Apr 2024 20:58:51
English and Scottish managers are by far the most successful nationalities in English football so the next manager has to be either Gareth Southgate or Steve Clarke.

12.) 23 Apr 2024 20:59:52
Not like those German managers with their 100% win rate.

13.) 23 Apr 2024 21:10:26
In fairness Nevada, none of those managers had squads or were at clubs with a structure to win a title.

14.) 23 Apr 2024 21:15:32
I'm not overly in awe of Slot as a choice either but if it is him he'll have my support.

15.) 23 Apr 2024 23:19:23
Isn’t it a fact that no English manager has ever won the prem?

{Ed001's Note - yes. But how many of the top clubs have had English managers?}

16.) 24 Apr 2024 04:25:24
How many top grade English managers have there been in the PL era?

17.) 24 Apr 2024 08:05:39
Are we saying that football management ability varies from nationality to nationality? That’s a pretty wild theory. Wouldn’t it be more the case that footballing management ability varies from person to person?

22 Apr 2024 17:42:39
Apparently Amorim has flew into London on a private jet to start talks with West Ham.

KopKevin

1.) 22 Apr 2024 17:59:55
If Amorim goes to West Ham that just means we don't want him.

2.) 22 Apr 2024 18:08:00
Carra saying Richard Hughes wants de zerbi. Don’t like Hughes already.

3.) 22 Apr 2024 18:11:35
Surely his club would be apoplectic about this?
Have they still not got games left?

4.) 22 Apr 2024 18:54:46
Who is on the flight tracker?

5.) 22 Apr 2024 19:07:13
He’s probably seen the FSG transfer budget and thought I’m off to an ambitious club owner.

6.) 22 Apr 2024 19:37:24
Carra is an imbecile at the best of times. Let’s hope he’s as wrong about this as he is most other things. De Zerbi would be a disaster.

7.) 22 Apr 2024 19:39:10
Alonso and Amorim were my first choice. I’ll be honest, I’m not keen on De Zerbi or the other names mentioned. But I have a feeling that we might go with De Zerbi. Tactically he is very good, which you only have to see the brand of football they were playing before this season. And the way managers, not to mention players past and present speak about him. It’s his combative nature that I’m worried about. I will have to trust Edwards as he has brought in players not so favoured who turned out to be brilliant for us. If it is De Zerbi, maybe he will be the same.

8.) 22 Apr 2024 19:57:28
Seems like a strange development. Perhaps part of the dance around conditions.

9.) 22 Apr 2024 20:22:20
If we get De Zerbi I’m sure going to miss some posters next season and I’m sure YouTube will miss them also.

10.) 22 Apr 2024 20:23:40
I’d be De Zerbi out from the start. Some people have no business being at the club, much like Diouff, Hodgson or Rodgers. De Zerbi would be a huge failure.

11.) 22 Apr 2024 20:25:03
Tbh if Amorim is out of the frame, why not just take a punt on Stevie G, would rather him than a 3rd choice. Maybe Jose was at fulham yesterday as an advisor for Amorim but can't see em going for jose mouriniho.

{Ed025's Note - seriously...Gerrard????..

12.) 22 Apr 2024 20:25:47
If a manager prefers West Ham over Liverpool then there’s absolutely no way I would want him managing our club. Even contemplating West Ham over Liverpool would show that the person has no idea at all about what Liverpool is all about.

Not saying I necessarily believe the gossip about Amorim, more talking in general terms about a person’s suitability to manage our club.

13.) 22 Apr 2024 20:50:06
It’s the lure of London
His wife is a designer I think so probably thinking about her business interests too

And - he may have more say in transfers at Wet Spam plus a bigger transfer budget.

14.) 22 Apr 2024 20:58:19
WDW if we’ve told Amorim we’re no longer interested in him as our first and are looking at other options (including failures like Kovac), then he has every right to look at any job he wants. Should he wait around for us to change our mind? To me it sounds like we might have messed him around or annoyed Sporting (again), both of which are very probable given our previous.

15.) 22 Apr 2024 21:19:56
It's hilarious how Victor takes assumptions and runs with them as facts. There's been nothing concrete regarding Amorim and Liverpool except for a couple of random Portuguese journalists and he's just made the jump to we've messes him around.

16.) 22 Apr 2024 21:26:17
Jose special Mourinho was at the Fulham game, fuelling a bit of gossip on social media about being manager . I would have took a prime Jose. but think his time is done at top flight . I loved him years ago, him against the world etc but the man got results.

17.) 22 Apr 2024 21:56:30
The Sporting President reckons he can persuade Amorim to stay.
There’s usually something in it when they say that.

18.) 22 Apr 2024 21:59:55
I wouldn’t call Ornstein a “random Portuguese journalist”, Thunderbird, he initially said that Amorim was our main choice after Alonso laughed at the possibility of becoming manager. Ornstein has now said Amorim is very unlikely that he will now join too which does raise questions as to IF that’s true, why would it be unlikely that one of the best young managers wouldn’t be in the frame. Also, Ed002 was the one who reported our self inflicted issues with Sporting after our unseemly business with Ugarte, so it’s not beyond the realms of probability that our poor relationship with Sporting would impact our ability to recruit Amorim. Also you may wish to take some English comprehension lessons as I didn’t state it as fact, I merely speculated. This is a rumours site after all.

19.) 22 Apr 2024 22:06:52
If Jose was a electrician I’d rather sit in the dark than call him.

{Ed025's Note - i do like a bit of light humour John.. :)

20.) 22 Apr 2024 22:11:43
That Klopp announcement was just the Start of the end ? years of protests and disappointment await.

21.) 22 Apr 2024 22:29:21
Ornstein has never once said Amorim was our main choice, he's never stuck his neck on the line regarding any potential candidate being first choice. Another mistruth Viktor.

22.) 23 Apr 2024 06:38:30
To openly state you would be De Zerbi out from day one is a reflection on yourself, not the manager.
We all have opinions and preferences on players and managers but once they're in they get a chance and our full support until they show us otherwise.

The changing if the guard after such a successful period, not just in terms of on the pitch but also in terms of the fans connection to the team, was always going to be difficult. We all just need to get behind the team regardless of who comes in, any 'manager out' talk or banners will simply make it a harder and longer process, look at United.

23.) 23 Apr 2024 06:53:18
Ahhh Anfield Andy the classic “let’s just get behind the team” comment means we’re not if we want what’s best for our club. De Zerbi will be another Rodgers a cheap FSG option who will try and be tactical and shrewd rather than going for quality. We’ve struggled to win one league with Klopp, we won’t get close to any under him. Welcome back to mediocrity folks.

24.) 23 Apr 2024 07:25:12
Slot now the bookies favourites, not that this means much.

25.) 23 Apr 2024 07:25:50
Here we go, didn’t take long before the FSG clowns surfaced….

26.) 23 Apr 2024 07:41:33
I couldn't more agree with Frode kippers.

27.) 23 Apr 2024 08:00:30
“De Zerbi will be another Rodgers a cheap FSG option”

What does this even mean?

Klopp earns a huge salary at the club which shows they will pay salaries for managers.

Also ed002 has said already on here that the club won’t have an issue paying the salaries of Amorim or other managers.

28.) 23 Apr 2024 10:05:32
I find it interesting that the bookies still have Amorim as the favourite to be the next Liverpool manager. His odds have obviously lengthened given what is happening but he is still much shorter odds than Slot as second favourite!

29.) 23 Apr 2024 11:15:11
After doing some reading, I think Arnie Slot would be very good. Plays beautiful attacking football and a real personality. Clearly very highly rated and in demand.

Ed002, there was mention of release clause available this summer but he then signed a new contract. Do you know what the situation is now?

After winning the cup and Feyenoord almost guaranteed to finish second, perhaps an agreement can be firmed up quickly. Surely this would helpful to affirm summer transfer targets.

. probably more twists to come.

{Ed002's Note - The release clause was removed so Feyenoord can demand whatever they want.}

30.) 23 Apr 2024 11:50:51
Thanks Mr ED002!

31.) 23 Apr 2024 12:04:41
@Victor, you - like the rest of us - don’t have the first clue what is happening behind the scenes. You’re basically putting forward assumptions and opinions as fact. That’s ok, everybody is entitled to their say. The thing is, if you offer your opinion on a discussion site, you have to be prepared for some people, in this case me, thinking that your opinion is incorrect.

32.) 23 Apr 2024 12:11:50
@TheBeeKeeper - there are tablets you can take for that.

@Frode do you think Klopp was / is a cheap option? Do you think it’s FSG’ fault that Klopp has decided he has given all he can give? Do you think it’s FSG’s fault that Alonso want’s to stay where he is and give the CL a crack next season with a squad / club / fan base that is right behind him? Do you think that it’s FSG’s fault that the quality of other potential candidates isn’t up to your exacting standards? Making out it) s FSG’s fault is complete rubbish.

33.) 23 Apr 2024 12:54:04
WDW, I would say it’s FSG’s fault if they get it wrong, like they did with Rodgers. By the sounds of it it’s not going well if we’re entertaining applications and talking to the likes of Fonseca and Kovac, both of whom are utterly hopeless and would be out of their depth. As would De Zerbi, Frank or Gerrard.

{Ed002's Note - FSG take advice from those with more appropriate knowledge.}

34.) 23 Apr 2024 16:06:07
The summer months sure bring out the crazies on here.

35.) 23 Apr 2024 17:19:39
Wow, read some crazy things on this thread

Someone will be out on a manager from day 1?

Someone thinks we’ve struggled to win one title with Klopp?

The 30 year title drought really left some generational trauma on a lot of fans.

36.) 23 Apr 2024 20:09:38
Not at all Frode. Everyone should have an opinion now, but once that decision is made get behind the team and give the new guy time. We know that no one realistically has any major impact for at 6 months. I couldn't stand being a 2 or 3 managers in the space of 2 seasons kind of club.

37.) 24 Apr 2024 08:02:31
Frode only sings when we’re winning.

Personally I think Arne Slot will be our new Manager, and I'd be happy with Him over Amorim, anyone else?

KopKevin

1.) 20 Apr 2024 16:46:16
Slot seems like he’s charismatic and gets a lot out of his players, could be worse, it could be De Zerbi or Nagelsmann.

2.) 20 Apr 2024 16:54:38
I’d like tuchel now.

3.) 20 Apr 2024 16:56:02
Wouldn't want de zerbi or nagelsmann anywhere near us tbh, they both come across as arrogant and a pain in the arse if I'm honest, Arne Slot for me, failing that, Amorim.

4.) 20 Apr 2024 17:59:52
Arne Slot. Simply so he can to the forwards, "lads just do what my surname tell you". Jota will be his number 1 forward.

5.) 20 Apr 2024 18:55:55
The only club I want Tuchel at is United. He’d make that club even more toxic than they already are.

6.) 20 Apr 2024 19:16:19
If it's not Amorim it'd be Emery for me. I am quite surprised we've not gone in for him as a potential candidate to be honest.

7.) 20 Apr 2024 20:45:01
Doubt he'd want to leave anyway Salah, doing well at Villa and champions league football to come, he does better at a lesser team imo.

8.) 21 Apr 2024 00:47:51
@KopKevin, agree with that, there are certain managers who are very effective at certain levels or in doing certain things, like avoiding relegation etc) but don’t perform as well in the ‘big’ roles. I’ve never really understood why, I suppose if I knew I could make some money out of it.

9.) 21 Apr 2024 01:35:36
KopKevin, that is true mate, it'll certainly be interesting to see how far he takes them especially in the CL.

10.) 21 Apr 2024 11:05:47
Love your posts Salah and always a joy when you’re on live chat.

Keep them coming mate.

11.) 22 Apr 2024 00:44:55
A bit late to this one JK but thank you very much mate, I too, enjoy reading your posts. Hope you are very well mate!

Evening Fellas, been reading this forum for a while now, some great content and people in here, the Eds Knowledge is also very much appreciated.

Just a message to see all your thoughts on next season and what awaits the Football club, regarding players out/ players in and for now the most likely, new Manager, Ruben Amorim.

If Amorim is to be the new Manager he has big boots to fill but in my opinion he looks capable enough, and brave to take on such a job following from a huge figure that is Klopp, so he has my respect already.

Curious though as to what formation he will play, currently looks like a 3 4 3 at Sporting, and can that work at Liverpool with the current squad we have?

For me, " maybe I will get some stick " but if he is to use that formation that could mean that a few players are to be sold, for example would Diaz fit in? Robertson? Even Trent?,

Obviously they're great players and massive in their own right, but for me I don't see a left wingback in Robertson, that's more suited to Tsimikas in my opinion, also with Bradley playing the way he is ( special talent ) I'd say he's absolutely nailed on as a right wing back. Regarding Diaz I think he is just a natural winger and loves to hug the sideline too much and I think he would be out of place and wasted.

Interesting few months ahead, and personally I see this to be the end of Salah unfortunately, with the club looking likely they won't offer him a new deal, or maybe he wouldn't take one anyway, I personally see this season his last. My feelings is we will need a left sided Centre back l, and I do think Inscio will follow Amorim, with us being previously " linked " I see it happening. I think we possibly need a versatile forward and maybe a defensive midfielder. Endo is great and Bajcetic looks to be coming back so who knows, I suppose only the new manager knows and we will have to see.

Sorry for the long message, but thought I'd get your opinions on next season and introduce myself.

Cheers
Kevin.

KopKevin

1.) 09 Apr 2024 20:53:41
good post Kevin, it all depends on what formation the new manager uses , didn't klopp favour one set up but used 433 so it could be that he works around the the players he has.

2.) 09 Apr 2024 20:56:30
I like forward to a refresh to be honest. Especially his approach and the way he sets up his teams.

3.) 09 Apr 2024 21:23:12
If he goes with the 343 formation I think we need 2 x cbs in summer due to konate inability to stay fit and vvd age, can't expect him to continue to play game in game out at 33 and we will have champ league football next season so will need strong team out in that. After that i think it will depend on departures.

4.) 09 Apr 2024 21:50:47
I think with a 3-4-3 we could easily have Trent bring more advanced on the right and may even see Szob pushed forward as part of the front 3.

For me I would think in this formation the width would come from the 2 wide players of the 4 meaning all of the front 3 would require the technical ability to play within the width if the area and in tight spaces.

5.) 09 Apr 2024 21:54:41
No need to apologise for the length of the post Kevin. I personally enjoyed reading it. In regards to Klopp. I love the guy and thank him for everything he has done. And want him to get the best send off possible by winning the league and Europa. A true legend in every sense. But I’m with Mizer, in that I’m looking forward to the 3-4-3 formation and a move away from the 4-3-3. And just excited for a fresh approach.

I’ll be honest. I would be shocked if Inacio doesn’t follow Amorim to our club as we need a LCB anyways. And don’t be surprised if Amorim brings two centre backs with him in Inacio and Ousmane Diomande. Both are young with a high ceiling and importantly both are performing well and understand his system. I say two centre backs is a possibility because Konate struggles to stay fit all season. And we need to plan for VVD leaving either next summer (2025), or the summer after next (2026). Quansah is the perfect replacement for VVD as the central centre back in Amorim’s system. Inacio and Diomande can be our LCB and RCB respectively for the next 10 years.

Trent and Robbo would suit Amorim’s formation down to the ground (see thread further down) . Ait-Nouri might be brought in, which would see him and Robbo rotate. Trent can rotate with Bradley on the opposite flank. Amorim’s system sees two midfielders at the base of the team. One is a playmaker that can orchestrate from deep but often pushes forward in advance spaces further up the field. This position is tailor made for Mac Allister. When this happens the central centre back (VVD) pushes forward into that midfield space they vacate alongside the DM (Bajcetic or Endo) to form a two man midfield. Too many intricacies in Amorim’s system, which is why he is known as being exceptional tactically. I think Salah and Diaz are gone this summer and if that’s the case I would like and expect Amorim to bring a finisher with him, ideally Gyökeres. But I guess we will see how everything unfolds over the next few months.

6.) 09 Apr 2024 21:57:42
Genuine question bit did Pep play the same system at Bayern and Barcelona as he does now at City.

I’m quite excited to see what the new manager brings to the team next season as far as ideas, selection and formation to but I don’t think it will be a forgone conclusion that it will necessarily be the formation he used prior.

We have an extremely talented squad here who we know can play 433 or 4231 so would it be an unnecessary change that could hinder the squad or will it be a change that takes us to another level.

I suppose only time will tell.

Very true Digger - Although I'd like to see Sepp back, him and Quansah could learn a trick or 2 from Virgil, I'd be happy with Virgil, Konate, Gomez, Quansah and Sepp, with the additional Left sided Cb, wether that will be Inacio remains to be seen.

8.) 09 Apr 2024 23:03:06
Maybe Amorim is playing 343 because of the players at his disposal at Sporting requiring him to do so to get the best out of the team.

Yes maybe it's his preference as well. But if he is a manager who knows only one formation, then I don't think such manager is good enough for big clubs.

What I'm saying is, seems he is the priority target now, so I think he's capable enough (in the club's eyes) to adapt.

9.) 09 Apr 2024 23:09:57
Btw, I don't know why I am having this impression that great managers don't bring in players they used to manage from the clubs they managed prior. I could be wrong on this though.

But often I noticed the managers people are hyping on, they usually brought in same players from their previous clubs, and usually these managers ended up aren't doing that well in their current clubs.

10.) 09 Apr 2024 23:38:49
Trying to second guess what a new manager might do is a bit odd - we haven’t appointed one yet and to be honest if you went back to last November very, very few people now offering their opinions on his skills and capabilities wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a police line-up.

11.) 10 Apr 2024 00:24:02
West Derby. I say this respectfully because this has happened before with you and projecting your limited knowledge on European football onto others. Just because you don’t watch football outside of the Premier League doesn’t mean others don’t.

Now if you were to ask me about football in the Championship and below. Or even the French League, I personally wouldn’t have the foggiest. A number of posters in here would though. Same goes for any other leagues across Europe.

Also, last time I checked this was a football forum. And on football forums, people usually discuss who is widely reported as the new incoming manager. Not to mention their thoughts on the style of football they would bring, potential players coming in and potential players going out. I find it odd that you find that odd… ?‍♂️.

12.) 10 Apr 2024 01:46:06
Good post mate, keep them coming :) .

13.) 10 Apr 2024 03:34:47
@Alonso, sorry I seemed to have touched a nerve. I haven’t ever said that people don’t have a right to express their opinion, however non/ ill informed. As an aside, given everybody has the right to express their opinion surely that extends to me too?

Couple of questions - how do you know I don’t watch any football outside of the PL? It just so happens that on this particular point, your assumption upon which you based your opinion is factually incorrect.

Second question, how many Sporting games have you watched this year? And were they all on social media. I try not to read too much into a game if I’m watching it from 10,000 - 12,000 miles away as you don’t get the big picture (pun intended) .

Of course you can think and say what you like about Amorim, as you rightly say it’s a football forum and people can express their opinions. No problem with that at all, the problem for some comes when someone has a different opinion, apparently.

14.) 10 Apr 2024 06:51:26
Alonso
Maybe big Seb Coates will make a return.

15.) 10 Apr 2024 09:34:00
@Irish. Haha love it. He does score spectacular over head kicks though. Shame they are spaced out once every 8 years or so.

@West Derby. You would think you work for the tv licence company with the amount of times you question posters on what they watch. And the touched a nerve line is honestly played out mate. Anyways, loosen up and try not to get so uptight on posters “trying to second guess what a new manager might do”. Because you might see that a lot on a football forum ?.

16.) 10 Apr 2024 10:24:47
Allison.

Konate. Vvd. Gomez

Taa. Macalister. Slob. Robertson.

Salah. Nunez. Diaz

Looks good to me ?.

17.) 10 Apr 2024 10:48:32
Great debate. Honestly, I have no idea about Amorim and his football philosophy. Also, no idea if he would want to implement a 343 here in the Premier League.

I would say that the squad we have is pretty versatile already and is playing a number of different systems in game.

I was a big fan of getting a left footed CB last summer but that was because I had foolishly lost a lot of confidence in Virgil after the horror season (for everyone) .

I do think we need a new CB but I'd be looking at Leny Yoro. In fact, if we could make only one signing this summer, Yoro would be it. He's the natural successor to Virgil in my opinion.

Sounds like PSG and Real are clear favourites for him though.

It might sound mad, and I think someone else mentioned it here. I could see Trent playing as a third CB - left or right. don't shoot me!

18.) 10 Apr 2024 10:51:50
Amorim could play using a 3421 (with the wing-backs providing the width) :

1st string:

Alisson
Konate VVD Inacio?
Bradley Macca Trent Robbo
Elliott Szoboszlai
Nunez

2nd string:

Kelleher
Gomez Quansah Chambers
Diaz Endo Grav Tsimikas
Jones Gakpo
Jota

Assuming we sell Salah. And will probably sign 1 or 2 more, which I haven't accounted for.

19.) 10 Apr 2024 12:58:09
Alison
Kounate vvd inacio
Trent macca bajetic robbo
Salah nunez wirtz

Or aside from my dreams ?
Alisson
Kounate vvd gomez
Trent macca bajetic robbo
Salah nunez diaz
Either way look pretty good, hopefully can adapt quickly to the new manager, as much as I'll miss klopp, im still excited to see how it goes with amorim if he is to be the new manager.

20.) 10 Apr 2024 15:14:05
couple of very good teams there, great to see Baj Btrainin no sure on wirtz and Salah could be gone.

21.) 10 Apr 2024 16:19:38
Wirtz is a brilliant player kop that, we won't get him as he'd cost too much unfortunately.

22.) 10 Apr 2024 22:59:01
Wirtz is a brilliant player but yes he will cost too much plus I think that he will stay at his club another season for sure.

23.) 11 Apr 2024 00:15:43
@Alonso, genuine question, does Amorim have them set up as 3-4-3 because of the players he has in the squad or does he prefer that particular formation?

Given the squad at Liverpool do you think he will play 3-4-3 if he takes over and how do you think that will impact the squad’s perception of their worth to the club or do you think it might lead to an entirely new formation? I ask because I notice that you have been a staunch advocate for a good five or six weeks now.

24.) 11 Apr 2024 09:01:48
@West Derby. Good question mate. He does favour the 3-4-3 formation, and has been using it for a number of years now. Admittedly, I have only started watching games from the Portuguese league on a weekly basis since the start of this season. Specifically Benfica, Sporting and Porto. Same goes for the German league, which was helped by their games now being shown live on Sky. But what I do know is he has used it prior to this season with great success.

I have been adamant in that he will use it here, but we do have a talented squad so he could adapt. I could be wrong but if he does tweak his formation I don’t see the 4-3-3 formation being used. It’s a tough one, because he could go in a completely different direction with us due to a number of standout talented players in our squad.

Someone who I think could play a major role in the system he will use is Trent. He could easily go back to right wing back and then the 3-4-3 can be implemented, with a few additions. Or he might put him in midfield in the 3-4-3 formation. Or he might put him in midfield in a completely different formation. Mac Allister is probably the most suited to his current formation. So, he might build the team around him instead. If he is about to sign as reported, I’m sure he has the system in mind and what players he would like to bring in to implement it. Saying that, I would like to see Elliott play more games though as I really like the kid.

25.) 10 Apr 2024 22:44:46
Like JK says, did Pep play the same at Bayern as he has at City? No he has changed. I’d say Amorim will play horses for courses too as he’s a very bright talented manager, pragmatism is a good thing. Even Klopp changed his heavy metal football a bit to meet the demands of the league. If we’ve bagged Amorim then we’ve got the best we can get.

I really hope not. Can't see him leaving Tottenham if I'm honest, especially this early, think he still thinks he has a lot to do there.

Doubt he'd want to leave anyway Salah, doing well at Villa and champions league football to come, he does better at a lesser team imo.

Wouldn't want de zerbi or nagelsmann anywhere near us tbh, they both come across as arrogant and a pain in the arse if I'm honest, Arne Slot for me, failing that, Amorim.

Anything can happen, but if we play the way we have been playing since the United defeat in the FA cup, we will lose another 3-0.

I've never seen any evidence of that, and I can't think of a single player LFC signed young, developed, then sold for a huge fee. Apart from Coutinho and Sterling, but they both handed in requests to leave.
