Hi ed01 if your around mate. I'd love your opinion on Robbie Keane shirt time at Anfield. I was watching highlights on YouTube yesterday with my 4 year old (obsessed Liverpool fan) and wondered what went so wrong for him. Thanks in advance.

Snagred

{Ed001's Note - he was a dick who let himself down.}

1.) 17 Feb 2018 14:56:39
Was he that bad ed1? I know it was a move he'd wanted all his career but I'm not sure he was really wanted when he arrived. I remember sky making a big deal about him being a Liverpool supporter at the time and interviewing him in a cringeworthy made up kids bedroom. I'm not sure he was the type of player we needed though- I'm also fairly certain he never really got a run of games. Was it down to attitude or ability? I would be very interested to hear more though if you have a moment. After the match perhaps? Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - attitude, though imo he was nowhere near good enough anyway.}

2.) 17 Feb 2018 15:07:09
In what way ed? I was young enough at the time and just remember him getting very little time as Rafa didn't want him.

{Ed001's Note - Rafa did want him, that is nonsense. He didn't get games because he did not deserve them and he couldn't be kicked out the door fast enough.}

3.) 17 Feb 2018 15:08:26
Well done aoe. Up to my neck in wedding details so much I thought we were playing today. Nope. 24th. Now what am I going to do with my Saturday?

4.) 17 Feb 2018 15:23:46
He should never of joined in the first place, useless signing.

5.) 17 Feb 2018 15:37:13
Rafa wanted him and realised pretty quickly he'd made a mistake. I gather Robbie was rather fond of a pint at the time.

I also heard he's the meanest, most money obsessed git ever and after he went back to Spurs he arranged a lads' weekend out in Dublin for the squad. For £15k a man. Of which Robbie personally pocketed £5k. When 'arry Redknapp found out he basically told Keane he couldn't play for Spurs again, which is why he ended up on loan at Celtic and subsequently departed the club.

6.) 17 Feb 2018 16:45:37
I don’t think pints where the problem.

7.) 17 Feb 2018 20:44:28
Didn't we get rid of Peter Crouch"aldinho" to make space for Robbie Keane? I was absolutely gutted when we sold Crouch.

{Ed0333's Note - my recollection is vague but Robbie Keane was a marmite signing. Some people thought he was a stellar signing and would be the missing link to a title push and some thought he was not of Liverpool standard. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. As things planned out he was a massive waste of time, money and space.

8.) 18 Feb 2018 00:14:17
I heard that it was something that he was having with his pint, and it wasnt a scouse pie .

9.) 17 Feb 2018 23:14:48
Was in a store with my wife when he came in with his, what a total dick. I’m Irish so was kinda chuffed to see him walk in but his attitude to the staff and other people was unbelievable, what a complete tw*t, he wouldn’t give time to kids who were in with their parents.
Not only the worst ignorant footballer I’ve ever met but the worst human I’ve ever met, complete ****.
Sorry about language Ed but I’ve never met a worst person in my almost 50 years on the planet.

{Ed001's Note - he did not exactly manage to endear himself to anyone while at Liverpool either.}

10.) 18 Feb 2018 01:54:00
I still wonder why Rafa bought him instead of Berbatov.

11.) 18 Feb 2018 08:20:40
"He was a d**k who let himself down". Well, that that was quick.

12.) 18 Feb 2018 09:51:58
Well Rafa wanted a wide player / second striker for Torres and decided to buy Keane. Robbie was a boyhood fan of Liverpool and had a very good stats at Spurs! We paid £20 mill back and recouped £13 mill after 6 months. Scored an excellent goal against Arsenal! We had practically no back up for Torres under Rafa.

13.) 18 Feb 2018 09:52:32
At first I didn't think Keane would be good enough and then I succumbed to the hype and thought he would do the business. Was he post torres? Hard act to follow if so.

14.) 18 Feb 2018 10:11:02
One of those signings I had a bad feeling about from day 1. We did well to get rid of him 🤝.

A question for ed01 if your around mate. First time poster so go easy on me! Where do you realistically think we can finish this season.
Thanks ed.

Snagred

{Ed001's Note - I still think we can finish in the top 4, but we could literally end up anywhere inside the top 6.}

1.) 14 Feb 2017 12:15:32
Thanks for the reply ed. let's hope we can do it. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say 2nd😀.

2.) 14 Feb 2017 12:41:49
the vantage should be with us now that Europe is kicking off again.

1 game a week at the most from now until the end of the season.

Whilst the other teams above have probably 2 games a week.

3.) 14 Feb 2017 12:48:01
Two or three losses by Chelsea within the next 13 games (can very well happen) and the entire complexion of the season changes. It becomes one of the tightest races seen in quite a while. Two losses by us and top 6 seems about right. But I still think, we're going to win it!

4.) 14 Feb 2017 13:17:52
Champions 🏆.

5.) 14 Feb 2017 13:29:50
Same here mate. Top 2 in my book simply coz title was gifted as valentine day present to Chelsea. Second is the minimum I expect from here on.

6.) 14 Feb 2017 14:19:16
im going to say 3rd. 1st Chelsea 2nd City 3rd Liverpool.

7.) 14 Feb 2017 14:41:21
I'm going to save all predictions till i see us convincingly beat the parked bus, the Spurs game just proved what we already knew.

8.) 14 Feb 2017 14:45:50
I don't know why we can't win it. Chelsea won 13 games in a row so there's no reason why we can't win 14.

9.) 14 Feb 2017 14:56:18
Ron, your posts should be prescribed as anti-depressants.

10.) 14 Feb 2017 15:18:38
We have a couple of very tough games in Arsenal and City and we've been inconsistent of late, but i do think we'll get better at breaking down other sides with Mane back and Firmino, Llalana starting to look a bit more dangerous.

Others have theoretically tougher run-ins so I'm hoping for top 3 but it's going to be close.

11.) 14 Feb 2017 15:25:05
Haha, brilliant comment redbull.
Seems like the only time I post on here is to praise Ron Keague for the unswerving optimism!
We need more of it please.

12.) 14 Feb 2017 15:41:39
I have a feeling Chelsea have peaked too early and have become "the team to beat".
They will now have to deal with packed defences and counter attacking teams.
No matter what anyone says to me, Chelsea's defence is not that good, take Kante out and they are very vulnerable.
Courtois is always a candidate for a rick too.

There's a third of a season left, we only have league games left, the only team in that position.
We can do this 🏆.

13.) 14 Feb 2017 16:21:28
3rd for me no problem :)

14.) 14 Feb 2017 16:47:37
Dont get ahead of yourselves, see how we go against Leicester.

15.) 14 Feb 2017 18:21:51
I think 88 points, which is where we will finish, should be enough to win the league.

👊 @ Ron.

16.) 14 Feb 2017 21:40:37
i like what gini said about losing focus on the aspects of the game and their destiny that they can control. shifting focus from the performance and onto as-yet-to-be-determined outcomes can really derail your mentality for the game.

one game at a time.

17.) 15 Feb 2017 14:28:39
The title is still on without question. We've had our blip, Chelsea will have theirs, Spurs and Arsenal are well, Spurs and Arsenal, City have just lost Jesus for a while which will hurt them and Utd are crap. You might as well hand us the title now 👍.

18.) 15 Feb 2017 19:34:55
Some serious optimism here guys. Top 4 is achievable, but we shouldn't expect anything more than that.

19.) 16 Feb 2017 01:45:09
Guys, we're 11 points behind with 13 games to go. I know the absolutely outrageous has been achieved in the premier league recently, but seriously, the chances are bloody slim. Do we really expect Chelsea to suddenly crash and burn so close to the finish line?

20.) 16 Feb 2017 06:22:01
we will win the title. we have had our blip. rest will have theirs now. fatigue will kick in for others.
My top 4 liverpool chelasea united ( misers) arsenal.

21.) 16 Feb 2017 16:46:46
Zed 👊
Robin - you say "so close to the finish line". The reality is Chelsea have over a third of the season to go. Don't forget how close we were in 2014. There is plenty of time for a few twists - imagine if Kante gets a red card 3 game suspension?

We just have to keep taking 3 points.

22.) 16 Feb 2017 18:17:54
Got to hand it to Conte. Back in august I figured at least one of the three new high-profile managers would crash and burn. Out of him, Pep or Moaninho, Conte was my pick.

The others have done OK, but no more concidering the amounts spent. Still hoping for a JM vs Zlatan or Pogba clash though.
