Rumours today that Newcastle are interested in Jota this summer, any truth to that Ed's?

If we could get a good fee for him it might be sensible in order to raise funds. Good player but increasingly injury prone, and am sure we would be able to find a good replacement for a lot less - someone like Nakamura from LASK or Lindstrom as Ed002 mentioned?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Newcastle.}

If they offered 70m as rumoured I’d bite their hand off.

Think i would too, really like Jota but gets a big injury every year. Use the money to sort the 1st eleven as Diaz will be 1st choice on the left once he's back fit.

I've heard it said, by those who know more than i do, that Jota's link up play is not great, and although his goal scoring record and his pressing abilities are positive, could it be that there is a better 5th option of our newly forming front line?

Jota is unique in the squad in that he can cover anywhere across the front three. Versatility is a positive attribute. Keep.

I'd like to keep jota coming into his prime now. But I can see us selling somebody like jota to raise funds.

Cos our sell to buy policy has done us well so far.

Does anyone remember the two previous puddings Jurgen sold to Eddie Howe while at Bournemouth Dominic Solanke and Jordan Ibe for circa 35 million combined.

Not saying Jota is any way a pudding as the above two, but he does have a long injury record the last and present season, is it time to cash in on him, as Carvalho does seem to be his replacement for the foreseeable future?

I don’t think you will find better “5th” choice forwards but it would be difficult to turn down a £70 million bid.
I like him, he’s different to what we have up front.

{Ed025's Note - hes certainly different irish...the others are good..

Harsh 007. Didn’t we get a hefty amount for Brad Smith too from Bournemouth?

Jota is a definite keep for me.

He offers something different and is versatile.

We should be strengthening the squad and selling Jota would be a backward step IMO.

Out of all our forward options he's the one I’d let go. Can’t pass and also can’t seem to turn without falling over….

You must be one hell of a good footballer 007 to call Solanke a pudding. Out of interest how many top flight goals did you score in your career?

Are fans here seriously saying Jota's link up play isn't good? His vision is top drawer. I'd sell him for £70m, but show him the respect he deserves.

Jota is not on my list of players that we MUST keep. He is not someone I would actively look to move on but if a good offer comes in, I wouldn't mind moving him on.

Would be foolish not to take £70m for Jota.

We'd still have Salah, Gakpo, Nunez, Diaz, Carvalho, Elliott and Jones who can play in the front line. 7 first team players. Not to mention some of the kids like Doak, Gordon, Musialowski, Stewart, Cannonier etc who could start knocking on the door in pre-season.

I wouldn't be against signing a replacement for Jota/ Firmino but I'm also a big believer that we shouldn't have signed Carvalho if he's going to be 7th choice his whole career here.

We’d definitely be foolish to turn £70m down for Jota but not as foolish as the people offering the money.

just going on from that point that Jota may be up for sale who does everyone think is our best frontline at the moment, I saw that someone thought Diaz woul dfirst choice when he gets back, In my opinion and only my opinion i think the 3 at the moment will be the first choice Nunez, Gakpo and Salah, so it will be a matter of keeping Diaz and Jota happy so i wouldn't be surprised if one left.

I agree Worzal. Salah will play virtually every game so i think Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo and Carvalho should be enough for the other 2 positions. Like you, i see Nunez and Gakpo as the first choice players.

@MK - you don't think Diaz makes the starting 11 when fully fit!? He's our most valuable asset, no?

I’m a big fan of Jota and want him to stay as a solid rotation option. But £70m? Yeah I’d take that. Sorry Diogo!

@47, at the moment, Nunez, Gakpo, and Salah have formed a decent partnership and are firing on all cylinders. I don't think Diaz would just walk in and take the place of either of them once he is fit. He has to bide his time and show that he is better than those three to take their positions.
