Thanks for the read. Given how Jota is turning out to be, do you think he will be used more up front and perhaps taki on the left as cover?

Taki seems abit lightweight to play the false no. 9 role but isn’t exactly fast enough for the outside forward role. Yet he works hard, has quality on the ball. Just not sure where he did fit in.

{Ed001's Note - I really don't know mate, it will depend on injuries and form.}

Thanks again for this and so early on a Sunday morning to enjoy with the obligatory brew.
It was so positive yesterday and even more exciting when we read your reports Ed. Even some positives about Keita. But it is 2 games in against two teams that most top teams view as must win. So we must keep our feet on the ground. Next game may show us more how we are looking.
But a few thoughts:
How relevant is confidence. It really is Huge! Hopefully Mane has it back fully.
How good is it to have a manager that is tactically brilliant and seems to have the full backing and even love of his team.
How good is it to have a bench that looks good.
How good is it to have young players looking good.
How good is it to have a solid defence and keeper.
How good is it to have a crowd.
Brilliant!

{Ed001's Note - cheers denzil. I agree to a degree about must win, but we have struggled against Burnley in recent years at Anfield, so it was big. Added to that, Keita has struggled with physicality, picking up niggles far too easily, so to come through against Burnley is a big thing for him.}

Totally agree about that I was nervous and Burnleys physicality is always a problem for us. That's why I said most top teams not us as recent history shows.
On another point I was looking at players that had been mentioned for Liverpool and that we all thought possible and affordable, but obviously not, Rafinha and Bissouma. If we had those with Shaqiri, Origi, Keita and Minamino moving on I think we would have a more than amazing squad.

{Ed025's Note - yeah denzil burnleys physicality was a big problem, they had the audacity to challenge for balls and make tackles and its just not on, klopp was right, how dare burnley make contact with liverpool players when we all know there is an exclusion zone around them, he really needs to concentrate on the game and how well the team played rather than whining and crying about the clarets not rolling over and playing dead....get a grip jurgen you big tart..

Great read Ed, thanks for the constant tip top effort writing these.

On Alisson, should that be a foul you reckon or no?

{Ed001's Note - no, he just misjudged it.}

Ed 25 again I agree. I didn't get at Burnley for their physicality I said it's always a problem for us and it was good to see us handle it. Klopp should have said that and not moaned about it. Agree.

{Ed025's Note - hes better than that denzil, great manager but needs to concentrate on the game for me mate..

Ed do you think we should have handled their physicality by falling over in the box after a slight pull of a shirt like DCL or going in for a rugby tackle and turning into a bear hug like Mina.
By the way don't bite, only joking!
I like to see Liverpool handling what different teams have to offer. Burnley are physical let's see a massively different test at Chelsea.

{Ed025's Note - its a contact sport denzil and the sooner people like klopp realise that the better, quit the moaning and mind games and concentrate on the game,
It should be a great game against chelsea mate and its one im really looking forward to...come on chelsea.. :)

Ed25 - I agree to some extent and Klopp has gone overboard, but it's also clear under the new rules there are a lot more late hits and cheap physical shots coming in, when players aren't aiming to get to the ball at all. I am a big fan of the general direction of the rule so we don't have players dropping to the floor at the slightest touch, but I still think physical but fair is an important guide to keep.

For example, I think the physical manhandling of the keeper in Tarkowski's first goal vs. Brighton was clear foul play.

{Ed025's Note - there will always be fouls SG thats just part and parcel of a contact sport mate, yes burnley put it about a bit, lets be honest if they tried to play pure football against the likes of liverpool it could end up a cricket score.
There is more than one way to skin a cat as they say..

Don't be like that. You know you like a good liverpool win.
I know you like the physical battles Ed 25. What did you think of Mina?

{Ed025's Note - i dont rate him to be honest denzil, and the way he went down when bamford brushed his cheek was downright embarrassing mate..

Nice one tris and very early too top man! 👍🏼.

{Ed001's Note - as we were the early game I was able to work on it most of the afternoon to get it done. Stopped me falling asleep during the Man City game like normal....}

As I said yesterday Robbo has a fight on his hands this season which can only be good for the team. Unless Kostas is injured I really can't see him being dropped. As for the way he fought for that ball and won there and then he won us over.

I might have misunderstood or maybe I'm looking to bail him out but I thought the ones Klopp calling out were those sort of non-challenges that strikers do were they back up in to a defender jumping for a ball, you know the one Kane does all the time? I really dislike those ones as they seem really sly to me and could really hurt someone.

Nice read Ed. Managed to watch Match of The Day this morning as well. Difficulty to tell how we played with highlights and radio commentary, but sounded like we played really well.

Agreed with all VAR decisions from what I could see. Ed025 definitely a foul on Calvert-Lewin for me yday, clearly stopped from getting into a goal scoring position. Those ones are similar to what Harry Maguire got away with a few times last year, stone wall penalties for me.

Have to agree Ed025, i’d much rather we treated it as a contact sport again where fouls are awarded for clear obstruction and not just any contact of any kind at all, has felt in recent years that some players just play for fouls rather than actual football and it’s been ruining the game *cough* Grealish *cough* Zaha *cough* a much needed and very welcome improvement to the league imo :)

{Ed025's Note - very clever by klopp actually AW, you see if liverpool get beat by being muscled out of a game he can then say he told us all about this even when liverpool were winning!, hes no fool mate..

Ed, where do you think Dyche will end up? Could he end up at Arsenal if they decide Arteta isn't right for the job? I'd like to see him as the England boss personally. Also, I'm curious to see how Klopp rotates players this year especially regarding Henderson and the two center backs. Agree 100% on the left back battle. Good read as usual.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think Arsenal would consider him to be honest. More likely I would think Palace when Vieira gets the boot. That would be my guess. Thanks mate.}

it's really a shame that they wouldn't consider Dyche. He would bring Arsenal the toughness that they severly lack. Oh well, just another blokes opinion.
