Aside from the players who thrived off their tough guy image like Keane, Souness and the likes. Of course they could probably back it up in a pub and were also great on the pitch. Who would you guys not want to get in a barney with? Most forwards from the 80s for me but Maradona. The man got kicked to shreds every single game against some middle weight boxer sized defenders but generally give it back and the ripped them to bits with the ball.

Adebeyo Akinfenwa. Not only could he crush me with a cuddle, but I'm so out of shape even he could catch me pretty quickly!

He's a big lad alright. And he plays the game like I would. A big fat bloke with a smile on the face. Not that he's fat obviously. But I am.

Jimmy Case.

Just to set the record straight, Sourness wasn’t a hard man off the pitch - I once saw him sailing across the bar in Kirkland, way back in the day.

Agree Roma. Case was a hard man.

I met souness at a charity event after he had his triple heart bypass. He was not only really nice but still looked healthier than me!

Always been Souness for me. He still looks like he could knock you out with one punch.

Big Dunc all day how many burglars has he battered? Apparently one of the guys heads had swollen twice the size and big d was covered in blood and had them both pinned down unti the police came. Proper hard knock.

Ages ago, the guy who always sent shivers down my spine when i saw him playing was Joe Jordan. Front teeth missing and running wildly towards the ball. The kind that take *ss and kick numbers. 😨.

There's footage of Big Dunc working a boxer's heavy bag. And as a burglar or two will tell you, he knew how to throw a punch.
Just a pity he was a bit of a loose cannon with it.
Tommy Smith was a tough cookie, it was mostly overlooked that he was a damned good player too.

Jimmy Case maybe, but Tommy Smith. Jesus.

{Ed0666's Note - There’s legendary stories about the brute force of Tommy Smith

I'll add a ref to the mix, Uriah Rennie. Remember him standing up to Roy Keane back in the day and Keano backing off.

My namesake Tommy Smith the first Liverpool player I idolised, but if looked at another player with no bias, Billy Brenner that wee Glaswegian was the epitomy of hard man, apparently used to take his teeth out before a fight.

I meet Heskey and my god he's a big dude. TV doesn't do him justice. The guy was lovely but I wouldn't want a dig off him.

West Derby, you may say souness wasn't that hard off the pitch but il say one thing I wouldn't of had the stones to pull the flag stunt in Turkey lol.
