I think I missed something crucial during a bathroom break. When did this "Klopp defering to Lijnders" thing happen? Is it really a thing? If it's a thing can someone point me to the thing? Thanks. I promise to pay more attention in future.

Hello delvecs,

Something will give soon and the "Truth will Out"!

Time is the only resolution sad to say?

It was one of the eds who said they thought that's what was happening at liverpool with klopp deferring to lijnders and now people on here just take it as gospel.

{Ed001's Note - never said deferring.}

Delvecs. This is a forum of mostly opinions, unless an Ed or a poster with inside information, relay something to the rest of us. Then it's for us to decide as to whether it's a "thing"or not.

Ed001 has mentioned that Klopp has taken a step or two back and given some responsibilities to Lijnders. And there have been several stories in the media that both Nunez and Gakpo purchases were brought about by suggestions from the coaching staff (I'm sure all departments discuss "things" with each other anyway) . This could be a spark that starts a fire if you want it to be that (by adding 2 and 2 and getting 22; Lijnders is closely connected to both Portuguese and Dutch Leagues, and maybe Ward is miffed by these two purchases and put in his papers) .

If any of this is true, then it certainly happened during far more than just your bathroom break.

All just unnecessary noise that will eventually result in Klopp walking away.
Fans are doing a lot of damage, we just need to spend some money on the squad and focus On the problem.
The team isn’t good enough. We need signings, Period.
The fans are putting too much pressure on other things, just look at him, he doesn’t look well, it’ll all end in Our great Manager walking away and it’ll be because of the Fans blindness to the actual problems.

Liverpool FC8, I don’t disagree that the team needs new players, fresh legs if you like but when a whole team drops off completely compared to where the team was last season then, for me it can’t be solely put down to an aging team. I mean first of all the players aren’t THAT old that they’ve all just capitulated in the space of a few months? Even if the argument was just age they would still be able to at the very least compete against 75% of the teams in this League. So while I agree that the team needs investment, there HAS to be more than just that imo. Cheers.

Cheers ArAy1969. Says more about my toilet breaks than the wisdom here. Much obliged. I would say though that regardless of IF Klopp did "defer" to Ljinders and Lijnders were "responsible" for this state of affairs, then he would obviously step in. He's not blind or blindly loyal. Seems a bit reductive this theory.

I agree Irish. But it’s because of the lack of investment in the areas we needed.
That’s where the rot began and the “reason” for the players downing tools.
Like I said on here a few games in.
If the club is not bothered and not signing midfielders.
If the manager is not bothered smiling on the touchline.
If the players have given up because everyone around them is strengthening and we are standing still.
The fans should also be not bothered, it’s a season off, but because all this noise and focus pointing out problems elsewhere other than the obvious lack of investment in the midfield.
It’s breaking our manager, and he will walk.

Nah LFC08, ain’t buying that fir the umpteenth time regardless of how many tiles you say it. Klopp is the one who wanted to keep these same players you say should not be kept like Milner, Matip, Hendo as well as the Ox’s, Gomez’s etc. He wanted to keep them hence, the legendary Michael Edwards extended their contracts. So your beef is with him.

You say we should spend some money. You do know that LFC was ranked 3rd in player spending overall in 2022 calendar year, right? Also, Klopp has spent 200m since last Jan in players so where has he not been given money to spend? What stopped him from using all the money he has lavished in other areas to sign a midfielder? I await your answers with impatience.

You can try as you like to blame everybody else under the sun for the things Klopp is ACTUALLY responsible for BUT it won’t change the fact that he is in charge of player personnel, end of story.

Oh I do blame Klopp also Oli. But like you in summer, he didn’t want to buy a midfielder. After all, you was the main Voice for the no midfielder brigade.
Are you now the main Voice now for Klopp out?
I want him to stay. Let’s make that clear. I want Jurgan Klopp as Liverpool FC manager.
But the whole reason, the entire problem we’re having, is because we didn’t sign any midfielders.
Like you asked. Then you disappeared for a while and came back pretending you wanted one all along.

I just hope you all don’t force him out now because he did what you all wanted.

Cripes, Oli mate. You are really angry at Big Jurg eh? Take a breath.

Yes he's responsible for a large portion of what is happening right now. I have been openly critical of the decision-making and non-decision-making over the last year and a bit and even more so of the coaching seeming to make players regress.

However, there's been some green shoots in the last couple of games - even if we haven't got the results, we have pressed a bit better. Hang in there.

I'd love to see him add another coach to freshen things up a bit. Could be just what the doctor ordered.

Dont get me wrong. My head will probably need a wobble when he parachutes Hendo and Milly into the lineup and drops Darwin vs Everton haha!

I never read one poster on here arguing against buying a midfielder LFC8. Some of us were just willing to accept that for reasons that have been done to death that none would be added before this summer.

The fans being concerned about the very clear, starkly obvious disruption and friction has made Klopp unwell and now he wants to leave? But if more people on the internet complained about the things you want us to complain out, namely lack of investment (like anybody disagrees with you), then he wouldn’t be unwell and he would want to stay?

Absolutely outrageous to say my friend. Don’t let your dislike of the ownership drive you to typing waffle. I think we can all agree that lack of signings and investment is an issue, but it’s just one of many factors, and many of the other factors are things that Klopp is directly responsible for.

@Bill Shankly. That’s it. Lfc08 made all that stuff up in his head and keeps throwing it back at me and if I ask him to produce the post where I said we didn’t need a midfielder in the summer, he cannot produce it so I just let him say it cos it makes him feel smart.

@FlyPelican. I’m not angry at Klopp. Not at all in fact, I feel sorry for him cos those he trusted are letting him down. That said, I refuse this pathetic thinking that all our ill’s on and off the pitch are down to the owners even tho, there is proof to back up the absolute contrary. Won’t stand for that. Whoever is to blame SHOULD get the blame, period. As long as people don’t want to do that and want to blame the owners for Joel Matip having a stinker can do that. I’m STILL out here. Come at me, bro.

@AW, with you 1000%. I don’t even think it is a lack of investment per se cos we have seen several cases where Klopp literally refuses to strengthen an area of need and would promote from within EVEN tho, funds were made available to him so how is that FSG’s fault. These people would rather believe the lies they make up about FSG than the actual truth about FSG in reality. Not here for any of that mess, bro. If we are going to debate stuff then let’s base it on the truth, NOT on someone’s unhinged emotions.
